Will be interesting to see what sort of fee he commands. Obvious talent - rarely expressed or impacted games and may well be suited to a higher standard. Without dragging up the anti lowe stuff again, this was a signing we made when we couldnt afford Pearson and had to draft in the dutch duo. There were rumours that we were taking him in the short term to offload him later to Arsenal for a fat wedge.......................let's see what we get for him

Remind us again why you were banned 4 times

It's deffo gone...for the time being. Anyone else laughing:smt116

Don't know why..... but think you could be right
-
I would have thought so ... given his comments on al falhim "Putting up or shutting up" and his attempt to buy the club over aaa. Be interesting to see what happens next. He has effectively bought the club for nothing, but guranteed the debt.

Just out on the BBC; http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olliewilliams/2009/08/how_violent_your_teams_fans_ar.shtml http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/football-arrests-0708?view=Binary The PDF shows us as 21 banning orders for football related violence in 2007 / 2008 (Latest available) which is failry low compared to some and at a quick glance would have us towards the bottom of a league table for the championship teams (Nothing were not used to) ...conversely skates are top (Worst) in the premiership with 91. No apparent issues for Saints then, which may be a surprise to some, given some of the "Trouble at game posts" over the last couple of years.

They have just updated it. Al falhim has only guranteed the debt...gayboy is off the hook...........however (And they have even changed their tag banner at the bottom) they were at pains to say....only al fahim is claiming this has happened, they have had no confirmation from the club or gayboy or storrie. Basically he has got the club for free on the basis he guarantees the current debt.

Well as you were banned under them, I assume you no longer have access to their inbox

Errr no...... " It would have been in the Gym at Ringwood, where i used to live"

Whilst i personally would have liked Le Tiss to speak out sooner, i think it tells you something about the man that he kept his counsel for so long regarding lowe. I could be wrong but from memory even during wildes first takeover, the recent ex pro's (Le Tiss, Benali, Dodd etc) all kept quiet and didn't talk up one camp or another. It strikes me (And again i could be very wrong) that MLT's first public criticisms of lowe came only after ruddy cheeks did the media rounds telling everybody it wasn't his fault we were in administration..... as a pure guess; I think that was "the straw that broke the camels back" and MLT couldn't keep quiet any longer
-
Cheers for that , I've never read that before...... Very easy to drift back to being in the archers when Le Tiss hit the winner in the last game at the same time a fly must have got in my eye and made it water;)

I think he is holding out for the warash wasps under 10's job

Part 1 of a few - Dave Jones: No Smoke, No Fire
Gemmel replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
Completely disagree (As much as i like Dave Jones). It was an impossible situation for all concerned. You could'nt give the job the effort and concentration needed, whilst having to fight against those sort of charges and the reality was we were 2nd from bottom and in dreadful form...... he could well have been sacked anyway. Whilst lowe made many mistakes, i really don't think this was one of them and actually dealt with the situation very well. The cause for blame, lie s firmly at the feet of the CPS and Police force for ever letting it get that far. -
Part 1 of a few - Dave Jones: No Smoke, No Fire
Gemmel replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
These types of cases are horrible, but my overiding memory was something quite different - Infact the opposite. Obviously there were those who went down the lines of No Smoke etc etc, but most people I knew were far from convinced he was guilty. Leeds fans gave a rendition of "Wheres your ball boys gone" and Saints fans replied by singing DJ's name. Fergie asked DJ to walk out at old trafford with him, (I'm assuming that was our first away game once the story broke) and when the court case finally came, it was dismissed out of hand by the judge................ I think DJ is the only person i can think of who has walked away from these types of charges without so much as a dot on his character (And quite rightly so). We do tend to judge people without reason and we are all guilty of "No smoke without fire" mentality, but with Dave Jones, that never really showed and he had and still has the footballing worlds respect. -
I dont think he is saying they are lying, but Southampton Leisure holdings had a company called Southampton Stadia (or stadium , can't remember) who would have billed the club for the use etc etc , so whilst all part of the same company, it might make sense for ML to operate along the same lines. The reality is we are debt free, how ML decides to bill or structure individual parts of the business is down to him

The actual stadium debt was just under 22 million. If the 12.5 million purchase price bandied around is correct, then Aviva would have got around 8 - 9 million, which is less than they got back from the Ipswich deal (Bet Aviva are glad they went into financing football stadiums), so yes it would just be the running costs. In the Premier (Someone can probably tell you the exact breakeven figure) but from memory it was around 22,000. Given the current squad, i suspect somewhere around 10 - 12,000 would be a breakeven figure. But i would imagine we will add to that and are costs will go up

With the exception of the kit, what is about the picture that suggests this is a professional footballer - The stance, posture, body shape to control the ball, the unique trapping the ball with your nuts trick????????????????? I'm sure SG will be chuffed
-
Hi Nick, I'm certainly no expert, so happy to be wrong, but genuinely feel that a number of indidviduals, don't look "professional sportsman" fit. However if Pardew is happy, then nothing to worry about.

Sat next to the subs bench on Saturday and heard everything that Pardew was shouting out to the team. His favorite word seems to be "Relax"(Which he must have shouted 1000 times) but during the first half the instruction was simply "Give it to Adam" "To Adam" regardless of who was on the ball. He didn't do it in the second half, but reminded me of how Bally used Le Tissier with the rest of the team. I am a big fan of Lallana but he will need to seriously step up, if that is going to be the tactics. The free kick goal, was straight off the training ground and he was made up with it - Must have been something they had been working on as there was a bit back slapping amoungst the coaches. Midway through the second half Wotton chested the ball down to his feet and passed it about 20 yards to the wing. Pardew shouts "Hooray, about blooming time" - may be I wasn't the only person who thought Wotton had a bit of nightmare As lots have pointed out already, it's hard to read to much into friendlies, but having seen most of ours this year, my biggest worry is the shape, because we just haven't got any! Fitness is also an issue and dissapointing to see Thomas cramp up on 70 mins and murty blowing out of his arse after 20 mins, but all things that can be addressed. I'm not one of those who "Can't wait for the season to start" because if i had my way i'd delay it for another month.....were just not ready and will need some decent signings to compete. Interesting guest there as well, I havent seen him mentioned but Andrew Lloyd Webber was there with his son....may be there was something in the rumours

no....just ask the lawyer from the FA

This has been a pretty accurate blog and gives an update on where things stand (Posted by MB on another thread) http://dralfahim.blogspot.com/2009/07/portsmouth-takeover-not-all-it-seems.html The reality is they still haven't been taken over. At this point in time they just have a new chairman. Expect Crouchs value to drop

I'm a smoker and the ban hasn't bothered me at all. I would never have smoked prior to the ban around someone eating or someone that didn't like it. I am sure it has had some impact on pub business, but i would imagine the biggest impacy is the credit crunch, coupled with the fact that supermarkets are selling beer cheaper than coca cola. I used to go out once a week, but its probably more like once a month now (Not including football) and am quite happy with a few cans / bottle of red, indoors with a couple of mates round.
