It was very poorly attended, so I am not surprised.

I Was there yesterday- Old Rupert lowe would have cried his eyes out. It was a corporate bash and there was a disproportionate amount of scousers serving us. I asked one of the waiters if he was red or blue and he went on to tell me they were all blue - As they were actually from Everton FC. He went on that apparently Everton have world renowned catering and their Chef for corporate is famous for his mass produced corporate quality and in the close season they get booked all over the place including the whole of Ascot. It could just be the event company for Everton or Everton themselves - Which is an interesting revenue stream for a football club.

You need to see the impact and role, real captains of other teams (Steven Gerrard is the first that comes to mind) provide to understand the delta between them and what Lallana offers us as Captain. In recent years it seems to go to the best player or handed out as a thank you or reward for something, to the point it becomes meaningless. I hope we change Captains, not least for the fact that this is a big year for Lallana coming up and he will need to focus entirely on his game, without any other distractions, just to stay in the starting 11.

Chelsea have about 9 scouts down here (I've been out of it for a couple of years, so not sure if it is more or less these days). These guys are not all that (With the exception of Kev Coates). We had a team that was chosen to play against the Chelsea academy, and then trialists from across the country, over three matches at their training ground in Cobham. We won the first two and they refused to play the third :) :) They were well out depth and this was supposed to be the best of the best. They can come down here all they like - they are not in the same league as Saints scouts.

Can't argue with that

It's Not Just The Bales, Walcotts and Chambos That The Academy Produce

Fill your boots....another team that has (And this is a guess) 5 academy players playing professional football across all leagues - outside of man u. I think our total is somewhere near 15. The point is we are pretty good at that side of things. -

Because you have five players who are playing professional football, that started off at Saints and are plying their trade across different divisions. Very few clubs could lay claim to that......Which was kind of the point of the thread. They might not all be top flight footballers in the bale, Walcott, Oxo model, but there are plenty out there that have come through the ranks that are playing professional football. -

Morning All, There are a group of young lads and lasses in the middle of a 200 mile bike ride to raise money for some of Southampton's less fortunate school kids. They are not after your money as such (Well they are - any sponsor or donation would be much appreciated) but they would welcome any tweets of support (Which will also help raise the profile) or encouragement, as they start to flag and get cold / wet. This is specifically for Southampton kids, so if you have a couple of seconds start following them on twitter and drop them a line on; TSP@TestlandsSP Cheers

Verisona Appointed to Help Save Second Football Club Post date: May 2013 After its high profile success in saving Portsmouth Football Club last month, law firm Verisona has already been appointed to provide legal advice for another football club that was put into administration yesterday. It has been announced that Aldershot Town Football Club is to be placed into administration and advertised for sale in the next few weeks. Administrators Mr Carl Jackson and Mr Paul Goddard of Southampton based Quantuma LLP will be now be running the club until a successful option for the club’s future can be assured and their legal advisor will be David Oliver, Insolvency and Business Recovery expert at Verisona. ‘Verisona has been advising Messers Jackson and Goddard in the lead up to this announcement and will continue to do so until a sale of the club is concluded and an agreement has been made with creditors,’ explains Oliver. ‘With the expertise and subsequent reputation we have earned a result of our historic win for the consortium which now owns Portsmouth Football Club, we are proud to have been chosen by another organisation in need of guidance and suppor

I don't think I saw him put a foot wrong when he played and have an endearing memory of Kompany being forced to hoof the ball out like a donkey as Ward Prowse came steaming in. A huge talent, that perhaps we (Fans) are guilty of overlooking a bit as we have sat and raved about Luke Shaw. As mentioned above, he is going to struggle to force out Morgan or Cork and I can't help feeling that the expectations and talk of a higher place finish (Top half -Let's not go near Europe or top 4) are at odds with the ambitions of blooding more youngsters and bringing more players through the academy. That's not to say it is impossible, but it makes it a whole lot harder. Good luck to him, he has obviously got the right attitude and I genuinely think he has a huge future. Pochettino, will play a big part in this lads career, if he (MP) can manage him the right way - As in keep him happy if he is not playing every week.

I assumed the first part of your original post was cut and pasted As for Chelsea and springhill. The police decided that for that match they would keep the Saints fans in and get Chelsea down to the train station and out of town. This was a first and they ended up outside the Milton waiting for Saints fans who were locked it. Saints fans then kicked the old wooden doors of the Milton down to get at them. It was my first ever bloodbath As 12 year old kid, it was exciting, scary etc...... seriously messy. Chelsea did then go on to smash up springhill and also the convent (Classy eh) up the road. They were then banned from the Dell for the following season.... Which was great as my old man was away on business and I sold his season ticket to a Chelsea fan for 40 quid...... Big money in those days for a 13 year old.....We won one nil if I remember correctly :)

Marsden became a bit of cult hero, but to suggest he anywhere near good enough or close to getting a call up, is stretching a bit........ Having said that there will probably be people who say the same at my shout - Matt Oakley
