  1. He will be a Saint within the week
  2. I got stumped by a Saints question the other day; Did Matt Le Tissier ever score a competitive goal at St. Mary's.
  3. AB InBev would be my guess
  4. That article is just complete rubbish ( No offence Ant) and is way off any real facts.
  5. I remember a match at the Dell in the early 00's when the old bill decided to clamp down on swearing. Old bill at both ends of each line of seats...................It lasted about 20 minutes before they gave up.
  6. You might have already guessed pap, but I have a view on most things, but the drug "Debate" leaves me without opinion or stance. I recognize that some seemingly normal people use, enjoy and manage illegal drugs without any issues. The flip side of course, is the trail of destruction it brings to many lives and ultimately how many lives (In many ways) it can take......And that is even before you get into the debate of legalizing it or not. I can see the arguments for legalizing it, but could never tick that box, based on the pitfalls of these drugs being more freely available, but think that we can all see "the war against drugs" isn't one we are winning. Conversely, whilst it remains illegal, it will continue to be driven by crime gangs and barons and the users are often forced into crime to fund their habits and the whole cycle from start to finish impacts society. It seems a question that we have no answer too, yet at the same time, know that our current stance, isn't working.
  7. Indeed and a significant number of the long balls were across the pitch (Literally from one side to another) as opposed to down it. We did that an awful lot (Couple of times it went out of play) and I am assuming that is why the stat is so high.
  8. Its irrelevant without knowing the other terms of the deal. The press bandied around anywhere between 10 and 15 million, but no figures to my knowledge came out of either club. Without knowing those, we don't know if it was a **** deal for us or a great deal. What if sold for 5 million + 10k for every game of 20 mins played? - Not for one minute suggesting we did, but without all the facts, it could be that Arsenal are the ones laughing.
  9. 3000 hours of unpaid work - Nice touch from the bluefew
  10. I think we al realize that football deals these days are much more complicated than yesteryear. When Keegan left Saints, it was a groundbreaking deal that linked His Newcastle salary to season ticket sales. What I did find just as interesting, is that it seems are deals are negotiated by an external team By then Oxlade-Chamberlain had, unknowingly, been the subject of a complicated economic formula established by the Harvard business boffins employed on a sizeable retainer by the club It does seem that we go for the very best in every aspect of the Club.
  11. Scott parker to fulham - Decent signing
  12. That's my opinion on the situation as well. The meeting in May was based around how the club was run (Hierarchical structure) and Cortese seemed to win the day. The idea that he could run that business completely independently with an open cheque book is fanciful at best. The point at which the loans were converted to equity ,made perfect sense as the riches of the Premiership lay ahead. From a business perspective, the timing also represented the optimum in terms of a return. To see any significant rise in the Clubs value at that point would need serious serious investment, without any guarantees. More recently we have seen through Companies House, "Statements of Solvency" and a reduction in share capital, both of which would not represent a huge leap in faith to suggest that a sale or transfer of ownership is on the cards. - That said they could mean completely other things. My best guess is that Cortese was allowed to continue to run the club independently, within it's own means. Whether these signings remain "Within our means" we shall see, but lets not forget there is a charge against the club for all assets. It will be worth keeping an eye on that to see if it has been satisfied or whether it actually increases.
  13. The op has a valid point. Keep your eye on the details. We will not be owned by the Liebherrs by the end of he season
  14. Wont ask why - But cheers fella
  15. We sold a player for more than the club cost
  16. Feel free to drop me a line. Incredibly over zealous stewards who completely manhandled him for going to congratulate Rickie, who himself came towards the fans. Totally inappropriate reaction and physical restraint.....I think they were just ****ed off we had scored.
  17. Thoroughly deserved three points. Ironically, Ricky is the hero after a very below par performance....But who cares. MP has stamped his style all over this team. We dictate the tempo of the game. End of. MS is one of the best players I have ever seen wear the shirt. You wont see it in the papers, or the player scores, but that was a 10 out of 10 performance..... didn't put a foot wrong all day and covered very blade of grass at least 20 times. Incredible. JWP - Take a bow. Wanyama is a ****ing tank Gaston wont last long with performances like that .......12 million quid regardless. Chambers must be buzzing.......4 homegrown players on the pitch. Southampton Football Club, take a bow. Boruc. Awful distribution and then when it really mattered a truly world class save...Gordon Banks style. Welcome back Adam - Top draw.
  18. FFS - They really are full of ****e aren't they.
  19. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, but know that whatever highs and lows the season produces, I will ultimately end up disappointed - We are Saints - It's what we do. The public ambition and expectation that the club have shown, is in my opinion at odds with the squad and the strategy......... But I will for the time being indulge myself in thoughts of glory and a top ten finish, simply because I have done the same at the start of every season for the last 36 years :) :) In a more sober moment, survival remains our key goal. There is patently (IMHO) something happening on the ownership side of things, that I hope doesn't impact us on the pitch later on in the season. We need a fast start and will be heading off tomorrow morning to help that happen.
  20. I've got footage of Fox playing for Saints but wearing another teams kit. Just because the Saints fans didn't notice, doesn't mean it didn't happen. He actually scored the winning goal of the match, even though the press reported that Saints won the match. ****ing loonies, you cant fool us.
  21. Just mikey dropped a bollock last night by closing the original thread, but hopefully they read the comments and take things on board.
  22. I cut down on my away days (From about 60% to 30%), when local pubs started showing the games live.
  23. Something to do with a Sky Interview.....................
  24. I thought he was the "engagement manager"......promotion already? http://fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=508365
  25. But the bestest fans set up a fund for him........ http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/fans-start-fighting-fund-for-under-fire-blogger-1-4847361
