Personally I believe him when he says that he loves the club but in the final conclusion he let us down ! There was always a heavy suspicion that he and Wilde returned together to protect/salvage their own share values over all other considerations ! Given his best intentions for the club I simply cannot believe that he could not bring ANY serious investors to the table. I realise that we can now be bought for a knockdown price but the administrator has managed to get 34 statements of intent in a week (even if only a few turn out to be viable). !! This sort of proves that there always was interest out there !I am still left with the impression that Rupert was holding out for reasons of both ego and payout ! Did he ever seriously tried to find us a buyer !!!

I first took my son when he was 5 and it was done for the very best of reasons ! Basically the wife informed me that if I insisted on going to the football I had to take the little brat off her hands otherwise it was a non starter ! Around this time I had a contact at Fulham and used to sit in the director's box, I took my lad along once and he amused himself by running along the rows systematically flipping the seats up and then running back and flipping them down again (the box was never full in those days!) needless to say he wasn't welcomed back !! From about the age of 6 he was a Junior Saint at the Dell and we loved every visit in those days !!

If it wasn't for your swearing filter it would have been even closer !!

I found some interesting quotes from (allegedly) interested parties from the continent : a) "We could get involved but we'll see what comes out in the wash" ! Vim van Persil (Den Haag, Nederland). b) "It may happen for us, I have a nose for thees theengs ! Mathieu Le Depardieu (Paris, France) c) "We checked the 'world class catering' on Saturday, you takin' da pizza" ! Francesco Benalini, (Rome, Italy) d) "The stadium looked good but without underground facilities it was a non starter" ! Rupert Fritzl (Vienna, Austria) e) "We may take a gamble ! Mustapha Punt, (Istanbul, Turkey) f) You vill know that we are coming when you spot a submarine in Southampton water! Boris Von Briefcasky, (Moskva, Russia) g) Our family consortium considered it but felt that we'd be too similar to the previous, failed board of directors ! B und CH koontz, (Hamburg, Germany)

The daftest, most self-centred and most myopic rescue proposal yet..

I suppose at least you realise it !!!! -
They are pretty similar, you must admit ! I hope that somebody tells the lad just why he was booed, otherwise he may get a complex about it !

I would expect a statement from the admin guy (Fry) giving the facts of our situation. Let's face it it's only one page and is normally drivel anyway ! I could write it myself saying welcome to Charlton, get behind the lads, we need your support and it'll all come good in the wash !!!

As it was my suggestion, I would like to exclude all previous directors from the deal ! If the council buy the stadium and rent it back to the FC under new ownership then I reckon we could be on the way back from oblivion !!!
-
I really don't know any details and am sure that there would be a minefield to crawl through to get there but I was trying to think 'out of the box' and maybe just sow a few seeds !!!!

I assume that Jackson's Farm would have a real value if the council planning dept consented for residential use ? That being the case, why does the administrator not propose to them that they take JF in exchange for SMS ? The city retains it's football club, the council gets a valuable asset and the taxpayer doesn't lose out ! Win, win, win ??? Maybe I'm dreaming a little but perhaps there is something of this ilk that can be looked into further ????

It won't happen, mark my words !

I hope that people are working on banners. I suggest : 'HATE RUPERT LOVE DUCKS'

This gets my vote ! Why don't you contact Rupert's publisher's directly ?
-
Looks like it won't be a bestseller then ??

I would be happy to pledge a wedge (top end of the poll) but would need some sort of commitment from the club ie. long term s/t . I know someone who blew a few million on a club similar to ours and not only did he lose the lot but he got abused into the bargain so it's important not just to blindly throw money at the problem ! COYS

If Rupert decides to write an autobiography what do you reckon : a) Title of the book ? b) Would you buy it ? To start you off : a) Rosy Cheeks and Relegation ! b) Definitely yes !

Reading this thread it sounds like the Skates are a lovely bunch of people after all ?????

I presume that you will be dragging your husband from his gardening duties and will drop in to your old watering hole to buy me a pint, adding even further to your new spending spree ?? I am presently in BRU but will set off at the crack of dawn to ensure that I have a beer in my hand by 14.00 latest !!!!! Life begins again

Rupert glares at the lunatic fringe as he marches to his old used Skoda where Scooby the driver is loyally waiting !

I think that the current situation is getting to some of us !
-
It would be interesting to see if any of them actually play for nothing ?? With 7 games left they don't have any chance of going elsewhere so what would they have to lose? I'm not holding my breath, mind !

For all his faults I have heard from other clubs directors and also from the FA (indirectly) that Rupert always championed the Saints and held his corner every time, he fought like a tiger to get the best deals for us, that I know for sure ! Being an egotist, however, it manifests itself in all sorts of ways (ie. he thinks he knows best on everything) He should have worked much harder on his relationship with the fans and should have left footballing strategy to the experts! In the end of course it is now history and we all have to pick up the pieces but IMHO he believed he was doing the right thing even although it ended in disaster ! I await a torrent of abuse.........

Spot on ! They have just announced the player of the month ! (must deem this to be more important than going bust ?).
