Agreed but it's also a measure of incompetent transfer dealings that we are lumbered without an adequate replacement at a critical stage of the season !!!!
-
Uphill struggle now ! Would have been a good day to score just one goal with other results in our favour !
-
You've mentioned 15 to leave but hey, look on the bright side, we'd still have Anthony Pulis !!!!

So Beckham wants to buy a British Football Club?

Don't worry Mick, the men in white coats will be around soon to take them away !! -
I'm finding it difficult to shake off the feeling that we are 'doomed' !!!
-
So am I at the mo, in Tokai (Cape town), have access to Sky Sports on the web and watching Champs League live ! Praying for saints win, COYS !!!!!

Just please don't tell us that this was a strategic plan B, as we all know that it was more by luck than judgement on Rupert's part ! FWIW I am delighted that MW has made a great start and has given us renewed hope. Long may it continue and if anyone chants his name I'll be happy to join in, no probs !!!

Me on the left, Rupesy on the right ! Deep joy !!!!!!!!!

SFC - Have we finally passed the lowest point ?
eurosaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I suspect that you are twisting the facts here : a) Nobody is (anti) our good young players, only the fact that they were all thrown in at the deep end together ! b) Stupidity/incompetence was the cause of playing too many youngsters at the same time, surely that's what managers/coaches are there for, to get a balanced team capable of getting results, no? My opinion is not borne out of hatred for Lowe, it is based on proven logic in the football world and most certainly is no reflection on individual youngsters in the squad !!! -
Fans parliaments/forums etc.. are all well and good as long as direct questions are asked and answered ! Ie. a) What happened to Hockaday & Webster ? b) Did we have valid financial reasons for not playing our experienced players earlier in the season or was it just bloodymindedness ? c) Why were our loan signings all young/unproven instead of experienced to give us better balance ? d) Why are pictures of trains more important than mementoes of our history ? If we get the PLC chairman reading a (probably the one and only) letter of congratulations about his wonderful achievements then please just forget it !!

Was Lowe a lot closer to being right than we give him credit for?

It's been very interesting to read about Rupert's strategic plan B and how smart he has been to have kept it up his sleeve until just the right moment ! With all the surmisal and speculation as to what he 'may' or 'may not' have been thinking, I feel that there is one strong element which is missing here and that is : Good communication between club and supporters, featuring - openness, truth, honesty, humility & integrity ! If it ever happened then sorry, but I must have missed it ! Arrogance, secrets, lies and spin have been the order of the day and I'm afraid you can fool some of the people some of the time but you cannot fool Saints supporters all of the time !!!! -

Dear Trousers, Please stick to the caption competitions cos when it comes to the more serious threads you are just 'pants' ! All IMHO you understand ! -

Please excuse me while I pick the diced carrots from my keyboard !!! -
The Saga loan was one of many atrocious footballing decisions that Rupesy has made this season ! The premise that saving a few bob on proven players wages is better than plummeting towards the 3rd division is baffling to me ! (For those who are about to say that we had no choice) I would point out that the total cost of Smith, Gasmi, Robertson, Pekhart, Pulis etc.. must equate at least to Saga's package and in the end 'quality is better than quantity' !!!
-
Drink is not the answer ! Cheers :)

I feel sure that the fan reaction at the Donny game was the catalyst for JP's (or maybe Rupert's) decision! Coupled with the appalling home record and league position something had to give! Sadly, getting shot of Rupesy might not be so easy, grrrr....
-
Hopefully we do get to see it again cos it often looks very different than in real time ! Who knows, you might well be right but at that moment I thought it was sublime !! Any which way, he kept it out and that's the main thing, 3 points and moving on up ! COYS.

Cardiff fan dead/on life support machine...

The road was blocked going south out of the stadium after the game and the OB were all over the place (at least 6 squad cars!). There was obviously something heavy going on !!! -
Just as a matter of interest, where were you sitting ??
-
Christ, you're hard to please ! It was down my end of the Kingsland, I had a great view of it and I would class it as 'spectacular', particularly as he had just got up from making another good stop !
-
Play the same (winning) team as last week and forget all the cr@p about them being a good side ! Arsenal's kids could have taken 10 off them in the cup so we should concentrate on what we ourselves can do best ! All the chopping and changing has done b*gger all for us so far this season so let's at least give stability a chance !!!! COYS.

Strangely enough I could never get it on my part the Isle of Wight (still can't get radio Hants) but my son in Belgium listens to it on matchdays on the net ! Ps. I don't actually blame Rupert for the reception zones, I'll leave that to Stanley !
-
The catering has never been anything other than ordinary! The radio station was losing a few hundred thousand a year and eventually went out of business! These projects were a distraction to what should have been the main aim of keeping the football club at the highest possible level ! Rupert's obsession with non first team issues were nothing more than a smokescreen and did nothing to benefit the wellbeing of SFC ! All IMHO of course !

The forum reflects the mood of the moment, it's a bit like market forces in the economy ! If we were flying high the talk would be about goals, players, signings, league position etc.. The fact is that we are in the mire and those deemed responsible are tarnished with underachievement/incompetence, therefore negativity takes over ! It's the way of the world I'm afraid and only improved performance or outright takeover will change it ! I post less than before but still scour the site for the odd snippet which might make me better informed about the club (sad I know, but reality!).

On the route back from Glasgow to my home in the south I decided to take in the Saints game at Everton. I followed my nose till I saw the stadium and then stopped to ask a copper " where can I (safely) park my car around here? " He looked at my shiny new BMW and replied in a strong scouse accent "Manchester" ! We got tonked by 7 goals that day but at least the motor was ok when I got back to it !!
