The talk at the time was of balance between 'young guns' and 'old heads' ! Given that we had a number of young ones at the club already, surely the sensible option was to sign up a few oldies ? Subsequent signings of Gasmi, Pulis, Smith, Robertson etc.. really do make you wonder whether this balance was ever seriously considered at all !!

Did we really need a huge report just to tell us that we are on the slide ? Gives a whole new meaning to the chant - " we're sh1t and we know we are" !

Having lived and worked in Belgium for 13 years I can only say that you are talking out of your @rse ! I don't particularly like Stella (Leffe blonde is my tipple!) but you will find it in thousands of pubs throughout the country !! Maas and Jupiler are probably the mainstream lagers but whatever your personal taste it is carbage to suggets that it is not availaable in local pubs !!

Given the big build up at the start of the season about this ' continental style, revolutionary, all inclusive new system' it strikes me that we have a manager (Poortvliet), a reserve team manager (Wotte) and the other two (Henderson and Hockaday) looking after the youth side ! It strikes me that this structure is about the same as most other teams and means that it was all just spin to make us feel good and buy season tickets etc.. ? 'Total football' was also touted but now just seems to be a mixture of playing people out of position or running around without any clear direction ! Excuse me for being cynical but when I look back a few months and consider the bold optimism on offer I am beginning to feel a bit disappointed to say the least ! I feel sure that the players and coaching staff are doing their best but perhaps the hype was just too much for them ??

The BBC report says that Boyd reacted to GB's critical remarks of him on telly AFTER the match ! I can't understand why it is necessary for the manager to be negative about someone who did not actually play and this is why I question Burley's man management skills ! Ps. I also think that Boyd is an @rse for refusing to play for his country in future but as this is a Saints forum my only point was about Burley !

I think that my facts are better than yours ! a) Maloney is right sided and playing on the left (that's what I said!). b) If playing one up front was changed at h/t then surely it was wrong in the first place ! c) If Boyd was DUE to be dropped why the hell pick him in the first place ! d) Please re-read the BBC article and you'll find that Boyd reacted to GB's comments on TV, not the other way round, there is no mention that Boyd said anything prior to this !! Anyway, it's all history as far as Saints are concerned but I could detect similar weaknesses to his time down here, that's all !

Our former manager seems to be repeating some of his strange behaviour in his new job: a) Played a right sider on the left wing ! b) Played one up front in a 'must win' home game! c) Played his most creative player as lone striker with his back permanently to the play! d) Took off his best player (having played out of position) after 65mins ! e) Has now upset a striker with negative comments behind his back, causing him to walk out!
