If this were to happen then the whole discussion will go on forever and remain an unresolved issue ! IMO the sooner someone comes out the better, does anyone actually think that Gareth Thomas (rugby player) and Thomas Hizlesperger have negatively suffered because of it ? I consider them to be proven strong characters and from what I've read they both feel more comfortable for it !

Strange that people who hold the opinion that this subject should be treated as a 'non issue' are deeply involved in a 4 page (and rising) thread ! I guess that's part of the problem and personally I'd like to see some players 'come out' soon because after an initial media spree I would expect it to die down very quickly as it did in rugby and American football ! The worst thing IMO about making a 'non issue' an 'issue' is that it keeps it going ! Let's move on..............

Having read through this thread, I have come to the conclusion that the Tories play the media better, are better at political opportunism and generally get all the good breaks (like not being in government during an economic collapse) ! I guess that this means Labour are either plain unlucky or maybe just too honest for their own good ! The only other conclusion could be (as Lord Duckhunter already pointed out!) that lefties never blame their own inadequacies, it's only ever someone else's fault !

Tim, do you honestly think that only Mail and Express readers are swayed by what they read and that Mirror and Guardian readers are not ? The anti Britain comment is clearly born out of Corbyn's anti monarchy, pro IRA, pro Hamas, pro Marxist stance and although (IMO) unnecessary is certainly quite tame compared to the current shadow chancellor's comments about murdering Margaret Thatcher ! It is pretty clear to me that insulting behaviour is not exclusive to the Tories, not by a long way !

I don't mind paying my fair share but I can tell you from personal experience that having paid 67% tax under Labour in the 70s, it was soul destroying to watch it being frittered away subsidising dead duck nationalised industries run by 'loony left' union barons ! Not that I'm too pleased paying 40% tax on my hard earned pension for which I contributed handsomely over the years either !

Nice to see someone mention my team - The Jags ! They were my first love as I come from there but I married into Southampton and have been a fan since 1971 and never really looked back !! Clearly only time will tell if he himself is proven to be corrupt but the fact that he has presided over an organisation riddled with scandal and controversy should have been enough for him to stand down and allow a proper external investigation to take place, the fact that he hasn't is quite a damning indictment in itself !!

If he doesn't sign it, this could possibly bring a negative vibe to the club and perhaps dissuade new targets from coming in ! Bl##dy newspapers, it's not as if the club have announced it but these things have a way of causing unnecessary aggro which inevitably has a destabiling effect ! Grrrrr....

I think that he's going to have to ditch the 'Angela asks' and 'Marie says' quite soon because serious political figures need to display their credentials for running a country of nearly 70 million people ! It's a bit like saying "my mate down the pub told me" when referring to football matters, it's just not statesmanlike ! The job requires top level diplomacy, negotiation, consultation and and much compromise along the way ! Sticking to his long held principles of republicanism etc. will not encourage the majority even if they respect his conviction and his right to think and do as he feels !

I met him in the players lounge at Chelsea some years ago and made a bit of a prat of myself ! The pitch was sodden throughout the match and I asked him how he found playing on it (Yes, I had watched the whole game) ? His polite answer was that he didn't know, as he had remained on the bench as an unused sub ! We had a laugh about that and he couldn't have been more sociable, mind you, I think he fancied my daughter so maybe it was nothing to do with me anyway
