I have to laugh when people question his resale value ! I don't think there is any team which has profited as much as Saints in the transfer market in recent years, even accounting for 2 demotions and an administration, we have still managed a very healthy plus in terms of youth development and player trading in general ! Given that Fonte has signed a new contract, others are assuming that Cork will not be offered/or agree to one as it hasn't yet been announced ! It's not quite as simple as that when a player has a monetary value to the club (which doesn't apply in normal jobs) though ! The club always has to evaluate the best approach to maintaining the selling price or risk losing a fortune !

From what has been said, he was called in and told that he would not be granted a move because he had a further 3 or 4 years (not sure which!) left on his contract which they are prepared to hold him to ! Seems fair enough to me, his only argument is that his mates managed to break their contracts so why can't he ? IMHO, tough sh#t ! You don't fancy the contract, don't sign it !!

I've got my 7 yr old grandson with me at the moment and every morning he asks me if we've signed anyone ? It breaks my heart to tell him most days that we've sold yet another of his heroes !
