Is this the best depth of squad we've ever had?
Saint_clark replied to Saint Jude's topic in The Saints
Not sure about that, up until the Arsenal game Fonte and Yoshida had started all League Cup games. My guess is that those two will play together either next thursday or tomorrow with VVD and Fonte playing at home to Beer Sheva in a must win game. -
I really hope he goes to Barca when he does go, then we don't have to deal with him and he plays at a level he deserves. If he goes to United, Liverpool etc chances are he'll never play for one of the big three in the world as he's already 25.
-
Shame they missed him going past another one just after that at the byline, after he gets the ball back.
-
Summer no, probably not. But we won't sell him in january unless it really is something absurd like £80million.
-
We gambled on Rodriguez and that hasn't worked, Long has lost his scoring form and Redmond will take probably the entire season to adapt to the striker role (which I still think he can). Puel has got things spot on so far - evidenced by the fact we're still challenging on all fronts - with the only exception being Hull away. Why oh why we tried to coast on a 1-0 lead I do not know, and can only assume that was him using his experience against poorer teams in the French league who really would be out of it at 1-0. Lesson learnt, hopefully. For me, we really need to be a bit ruthless and call it a day for Jrod. Try and sell him on and get someone else in, recall Gallagher or just give Sims his spot in the squad.

Last time I did Palace was 2005, that Higginbotham goal! Is the Railway Telegraph still overtaken by Saints fans before the game?
-
I dunno, Van Dijk is usually rested for League Cup games and Fonte plays but he didn't yesterday. Perhaps a Fonte/Yoshida partnership on saturday with our first choice pairing v Beer Sheva?
-
Always said he looks better when playing further forward, not as an attacker just getting closer to the edge of the box instead of sitting back.

23:05 train from Waterloo after the Arsenal gane
Saint_clark replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
Glad I decided to rent a flat through Airbnb for the night, heading back on the train now in relative comfort. South west trains are terrible at gauging how busy their services are going to be. -
********. ****ing fix to try and get a United Liverpool fixture...why were the balls already in the bowl?
-
Poor signal on the train and can't get the underground site to load, can anyone confirm if Vauxhall to Highbury and Islington is affected?

Financial commitment of saints fans

Marco w*nk? -
Well what would the benefit be for us then? We pay him more to sell him for less?
-
Poor f*cking Gardos. Tbf he's been fit all season I think so doesn't look like he was in Puels plans anyway. Which is a shame, I thought he looked decent and could have potentially been a ready made replacement for Fonte or Van Dijk.
-
JWP keeping a Yaya Toure in his prime in his back pocket at just 17 was something special.
-
Easy to lose count at that many!
-
I knew he'd be a hell of a talent since I saw him in the 6-0 destruction of the Pompey youth team.
-
Only 22 though tbf. Got another 3 years before you'd say he should be as good as he can be, and the signs are all good.
-
His good games are becoming more and more frequent where a couple of years ago he'd have one a month if that. Needs to keep up that tempo of passing, moving it quickly.
-
We've been playing this way for a long time.
-
£30million, lul. If we sell for any less than £40mil I'll be p*ssed and really, if the market was any kind of fair (I know it's not) he'd be going for £50million. Maybe we should point to their acquisition of John Stones as proof his value is that high.
-
If his face was bandaged up, how can you be sure it was him? Were his earlobes sticking out?
-
To this tune btw...
