  1. I see what you did there.....:yawinkle:
  2. ditto - and specifically those OLD "pre-shops" being open wet & cold Sunday afternoons in the winter - Ski Sunday was a ray of light and yes in the days when my knees still worked he more than any drove me to discover the joy and freedom of skiing
  3. lol in the IT Industry we have had a long standing mantra called RTFM*. Seems many on here don't do that and then go off on a rant about democracy. I agree we SHOULD have had the A team vote first, but then any voter now on here should understand 1) Who THEY want for the Left sided striker in the A Team and 2) Vote tactically so that their chosen A Team player does NOT get in to the B Team... So yeah - more complicated than it should have been but that's why everyone loves democracy! *(Read the flippin manual for non-IT types)
  4. Interesting post but Allen was a failure at Brentford why would we want him back to replace JP? Oh....
  5. Forgetting our own opinions of DMG for the moment..... Many names on that list are targets for the BIG clubs with BIG cheque books, enough of this negativity, DMG is the next Messi/Henry/Drogba. Get with the programme gang he's gonna be worth billions. Come on Barca, Real, Inter - you KNOW it makes sense, get him now while he is still affordable, he's all yours for 10 mil and a sell on clause (cash in advance please) (ironic winky smiley thing as in how well did TSF rate the new Didier Drogba in his time with us - ie Kenwyne - in the year we all wanted him shipped back to where he had come from.... and in I wonder if we could do a Kevin Davies for him)
  6. Couple of shorties and a funny Long time back Salisbury Saints had a Race Night at the back of a pub in Wilton, think it was a testimonial event for someone. Anyway, Holmes, Moran, Armstrong and I'm sure others were there, great fun great night and strangely that is ALL I remember of the evening.... Back in the 80's when I was a sales rep, stopped at the pub near Winchester (where the A34 used to split off the A33, nice thatched place good lunches) - placed my order, sat at a table for two waiting when Bally asked if he could share the table. Of course as he was at Sk*tes at the time I sort of joked no way, but ended up having a fantastic 2 hour lunch talking about old games at Saints (inc THAT Coventry game).. And funnily - following from FM's line, here in Dubai I have been lucky to meet lots of famous people (besides EricofArabia), drink with or talk to them, sometimes I even remember them. Over the years working as a Senior Marshall at Golf events had got to know Mark Steinberg who is Tiger Woods's manager (and yes Tiger has bought me beer more than once and yes I have the photos). Anyway 2 years back he was walking round watching Tiger so I collared him, had a quick light hearted chat and asked about Tiger's investment strategy in sport, and yes (as posted on TSF) I did ask if Tiger was interested in buying a football team ie US... Mark roared with laughter and said it was the funniest thing he had ever heard on a Golf Course.... He also gave me 10 out of 10 for effort and bought a beer later and got the great man to pose for photos with me along with his buddy Roger Federer after the man had finished his round... Great thread FF, and SB you stupid sad fool, not everything in life has to always be about politics
  7. Went to the Ugg factory last year down south of Perth. Can't say it was even remotely interesting but it was the 10 minute stop over on an all day vinyard tour. I got given a pair of purple crocs.... Think they are the ugliest things ever BUT bloody useful for slipping on quick to go get a pint of milk from the corner shop (but not in winter in Blighty) Sad to say actually saw a cute chick in the local supermarket wearing Ugg's - it was 25C outside. Didn't notice the boots at first, noticed the "strange perfume"
  8. Lol the way the thread got hijacked. The title is about opinion - ie most hated, not "who is statistically the best/worse" so it is about emotions and feelings engedered by the names. So Branfoot clearly for me is the most hated. He came in when we still felt we had a "right" to be successful and tried to turn us into a poor man's Wimbledon of the time by playing pinball. The worst for me is Burley, not for any other reason than I FEEL, he allowed something to "get to him" and so he lost interest around October/November of 2007. It was the time he lost interest that resulted in our collapse when we still felt we would push on. No professional in ANY walk of life should allow that to happen. Others may have been incapable or incompetent, he was just metally wrong. Wigley - EMOTIONALLY doesn't even rate a mention as it was all simply wrong, (anyway he was Head Coach (lol)) And Rednutt, nah he was the worst con-man we've seen, promising to do a job and then not delivering. Sort of in a MW role in my emotional view of things instead of analytical
  9. Gets better and better Sk*tes Spuds & Geordies favourite for the drop, Go on Kinnear, you know he's the man you need!
  10. Who the h**l is that muppet, he couldn't hit a barn door Me at Victoria Park Salisbury in a pre-season friendly making (I think) his debut for Saints The player was MLT who missed about 3 one on one's.... Ho hum,
  11. Thanks for clearing that up for us MB
  12. Agree that we need experience up front. But let's assume that the formation/style is not going to change, so do any of the three (Rasiak, John, Saga) actually fit into the system? Hypothetically If we had a blank sheet of paper would we actually pick any of those 3 to play up front in the style that we seem to be landed with? Saga to me is more of a player who brings in a big CF (like his time with SJ) but not so good when he was paired with GR. Will he and DMG actually form a partnership? Or would should we have a different player in that role.
  13. Also depends on how much faith they have in Forecast, this is football after all and KD is always only an inch or so away from getting an elbow in the cheekbone or a stretched hamstring too far. IF Bart goes then we have to be happy that we can get enough points to stay up with Tommy in goal.. Balancing act, good idea on paper but footie is played on grass, glad it's not my call
  14. Just been mailed by a friend Articles online today in Polish media Simply Bart is fed up warming the bench would like to go to a good club, Saga is happy but worried if we can afford his 7.5k a week wages (interesting that figure was mentioned) Will let you google guru's translate! http://sport.wp.pl/wid,10742319,kat,1744,title,Anglia-Bialkowski-zmieni-klub,wiadomosc.html http://sport.wp.pl/kat,1744,title,Maja-bol-glowy-z-Saganowskim,wid,10723842,wiadomosc.html http://sport.wp.pl/kat,1715,title,Saganowski-rozwazylbym-oferte-z-Legii,wid,10724234,wiadomosc.html
  15. Sorry CM but you are being VERY unfair, space is a final frontier, never a waste and that is where that "gentleman" should be sent. And how many years has he been retained? and how much did his company charge in fees? I go with SSA's approach FAR more likely to get a deal on Dragon's Den, who should we send? No, not Chorley And FFS not LLS Tijuana T? nah on and on and on Rupes/Leon/Wildebeast hahahaha No we'll send Master Bates - imagine how good his powerpoint slides would look!

  17. You have to find "A Compelling Business Reason to Act". ie why your approach is unique? and not another money grabbing me too football club following the same throw money at us as we are nice fans approach. When you find that please email it to any one of the shareholders, directors or wannbe's so they can use it to raise some money...... ah ha see the problem

  19. Kids from academies that don't have a process to go from U-18 straight into a team... Wonder where that was heard before? Oh yes SCW's mandate in an interview when he first talked about coming here Before the politics & redd***p got in the way. Neat idea, large investment, could make some good money if they turn out a couple of players a year
  20. JP's inexperience is shown up yet again. The old joke about having to flood the pitch to bring the "sub" on was totally missed as he felt it was another of Lowe's Sports Science strategies. Forecast (2nd from left) also wondered about the possible long term health risks of wearing the emergency underwater breathing apparatus every week while warming the bench
  21. Once upon a time I was promoted to my first proper management role. I was sent on a "managing people for beginners course". The very FIRST thing we learnt became my mantra and led to me having a successful career, a happy workforce and over achieving annual targets for more than ten years. That magic line was simple - "What do YOU propose?". Now, the fundamental issue that I see at this time with Rupert is that while he is exeperienced, he may have become a fan, and he may well be the only person capable of taking on the dirty jobs that cutting out losses entails, I am willing to guess that at no time has he used that phrase with anybody in the football club. Now when you consider that it is impossible for a leader to know every detail about every job, project or customer in a large business organisation, it must be equally so in a large football club. My success was to listen to experts and their opinion, use that opinion along with any other knowledge I may have and come up with a decision or a strategy. What worries me is that when he came back I worried we were taking one risk too many with the cut-backs, the kids and the management choices. So far it is not working well enough to save our club. So Lowe is the only experienced candidate who has "stood up" to do the job, but I feel that the PERCEIVED inability to take all possible avenues of experience and ideas when making strategic decisions at the club may be the failing that could kill us. FWIW this is also the issue I have at the moment with the protests, there still isn't a concrete proposal that the fans including myself could actually get behind. Lowe Out, Recession Go Away, MRSA to be solved, Climate Change to be stopped, yep I agree with all of them, and happy to go on a march, but not seen anything that yet comes across as a viable strategy - eg no point one person stopping using electricity to save the planet if 6million people in China et al just keep making things worse by using what you saved. Not saying it is hopeless, just not YET viable
  22. Muse - Dubai Desert Rock (about 6,000 fans just after they sold out at Wembley for 2 nights) Leonard Cohen - Glastonbury - wasn't even planning to see him but was stunning Queen + PR - Dubai Biggest let down MGMT at Glastonbury most worryingly entertaining - Kylie
  23. Think you got this wrong it's supposed to be untrue things said... Oh yeah ok when he was with us fair enuff but now? he's so good Stoke want him oh:smt078
  24. And my favourite one back at me... "I saw GB at 11:14 in the De Verre blah blah blah" response Source?
  25. I think a good one (not on here) was "The academy is a good plan that will produce our own players like Man U so that we can push on to the Champions League Mate in the pub
