My kids are still young (6&3) so this still works, although as they get older I can see it being a problem. Still it's better than the naughty step which I used once on my oldest. Ended up with him working himself up, crying and coughing so much he threw up all over the stairs!!

It's just brilliant. The only gripe I have with the coverage is the highlights show. A couple of times when I've been out and missed stuff live I've had to watch it, and to be honest the 'highlights' are terrible, far too short and don't give you any feel for how the event panned out. But then I guess they are trying to cram an awful lot into one show.

If my children need punishing then I just ban them from tv, ds, laptop etc for a period of time. Smacked one of my kids once and it made me feel so bad I won't do it again.

Possibly would have been gold if she hadn't slightly stumbled on her dismount. Great performance though. Katie Taylor for Ireland in the women's boxing is a class apart. Man oh man she was absolutely brilliant.

In my opinion the best commentator in the country is Mike Costello who does the athletics and boxing on 5live. He is consumate, knowledgeable, and best of all doesn't just chuck out knee jerk opinions like most of the loons doing the football. On TV I'd say Hugh Porter on the track cycling is the best by a long way. He's an ex world champion on the track too so has plenty of experience to back up his commentary.

Nicola Adams was excellent just now. Sadly there's no gold medals for mud wrestling.

Brilliant last round comeback from Luke Campbell in the boxing earlier. Guaranteed medal after reaching the semis. No messing with a 3rd/4th fight to decide the bronze, both get one. He really should win the semi too, he's much better than the Japanese bloke he's fighting.

Fair play to Hansen and big congratulations to him, but I feel for Clancy. He lost the Gold by not being in the front group that gained a lap in the scratch race. A ridiculous Kilometer time from Clancy though that would have won many world titles in the past. Especially good considering it came after 2 previous events on the same day.

O'Shea of Australia is very, very strong (already has silver in the team pursuit) as is Hanson. Zack Bell will challenge too. Not sure about anyone else, sorry!

That was an amazing ride from Hanson. Still a chance Clancy can win gold as he's the best in the field at the kilometer. However it all depends on how the others above him place. Definitely on for a medal of some sort though.

And that. We could win at least 3 more golds in the velodrome. Boxers doing well too. Reckon one of them will grab gold.
