  1. Sadly all too true. I've done a bit of coaching with 7-11 year olds. We had one kid who was a brilliant finisher but he told us his manager played him at centre back for his club because he could kick the ball the furthest. Quite often the players with the best control and short passing ability at that age were girls. What delldays says is also true. Or maybe it just sounds like that at games because they shout the loudest.
  2. All down to terrible youth coaching full of blokes shouting "get it up there" and "whack it forwards". Until we finally teach our youngsters to get the ball down on the floor with their head up and pass, move, pass, move, pass, move then nothing will change. At least the FA have finally woken up to the reasons why and will start the younger kids playing on smaller pitches in 9v9 games soon. It's 10 years too late though.
  3. Indeed. I have a friend who lives out there. He's 40 and looks a bit like Boris Johnson yet still manages to get plenty. He also has a facebook friends list full of young, fit, blonde women that most men over here would give a right testicle for.
  4. Defended well throughout the team and limited France to shots from distance. Very encouraging really as I thought we'd struggle to get anything from that game. Fair play to Hodgson for making us hard to break down. First time I've watched an England game with my 2 sons. The 3 year old got cross when England scored because he wanted the blue team to win. The 6 year old was quite insightful by declaring the ref was an "idiot", but then he's seen Saints play quite a few times over the last couple of years so is used to hearing people shout that out.
  5. Yes it was, because by now he would have a Championship winners medal and a starting place in the Euros.
  6. I don't think we need to sign players as cover, we need to sign ones who are as good or better than our current ones. They all need to be competing for a place and not here just to warm the bench.
  7. If anyone starts a song with "J Rod" in it I'll be wading across the stands to kick their face in.
  8. My friend wrote that article. He's been doing quite a few bits and bobs for WSC lately. I've seen Forcast play a couple of times and he is indeed completely terrible.
  9. I dunno, he wasn't that bad and did score in the FA Cup semi final against Watford which has to be one of most fans' favourite games.
  10. Iain Dowie got loads when we first signed him. Remember his name being booed when it was announced on the tannoy after he'd scored for us. Dixon & Speedie were also given a lot of abuse. During a hideously dull League Cup draw at Gillingham they were both roundly jeered and sworn at. This was pretty much justified though as they were both completely terrible.
  11. It's not just the Northam. I'm in the Kingsland and quite a few people around me give him abuse for no reason. Also happens at away games too. There really are a lot of Saints fans who don't rate him at all. I'm not one of them though, I think he's ok and has done a decent job for the team and made many vital contributions.
  12. What is it with the name Diaper? There's cack loads of them around here in Hamble and Netley. Never hear that name anywhere else. Half of them do look inbred though.
  13. Putting this in some sort of perspective, Arsenal's cheapest season ticket is £985 according to various newspapers (although it includes 7 cup games too)
  14. Am I allowed to not be excited by friendlies? I'll go to some pre season Academy games to run my eye over the nippers and have a chuckle at Forecast, but otherwise I'm just not interested.
  15. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2793687,00.html Only £975 plus VAT for the season. If I could be arsed to trawl back through my posts I'd link to the one where I said this was happening and launch myself up the Saintsweb ITK league to at least a Europa League spot.
  16. I won't believe he's here until someone spots his yacht in Shamrock Quay.
  17. This type of abbreviation should only be used if we sign Martin Offiah's younger brother Fred. Otherwise, anyone doing so is a C Unt
  18. Can we stop calling him J Rod? It just sounds so lame. Are we all 12 year old Americans on here now?
  19. Hmmm. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18235961
  20. My mate lives in the Ukraine. He says it can be pretty tough for black people there and the amount of racist incidents are very high.
  21. Why must it constitute the bulk of our transfer budget? And why does it matter what order we try to sign players in? For all we know we have put in bids for other players that haven't yet come to light.
  22. The next time we hear from him will be on the front cover of the first programme of next season. Similar pose to last time but with his no doubt huge cock hanging out.
  23. Funny that people are mentioning Chelsea fans. I know one who lives in Southampton but never goes to see Chelsea (too expensive he says) yet he has been asking how he could go about getting a season ticket at St Mary's next season. Here's an idea. Why not use the £600 you are thinking of spending on a ticket for a team you don't support and put it towards supporting the one you do?
  24. They are playing a glamour home friendly on 4th August. I'm sure their best fans in the world will be flocking to Fratton for the visit of high-flying Bolton. Likely to be their only home friendly according to Solent on twitter.
  25. Cheers for those. Doesn't seem too bad. I've checked out that route Scooby and it seems pretty direct and always best to avoid the main roads as much as possible. Looked at trains, only problem is that it's too far from the station and have free parking anyway so it would have to be car all the way.
