Whilst I agree with the margin for error argument, I can't understand why that diagram uses Frame A "Passer has not touched the ball" and Frame B "Passer has already touched the ball." Frame B shows ball still in contact with passer's boot. Surely no pass has been made until it has left his boot, so yet another Frame C is required for accurate comparison.

Night before a game? Throw the book at them. Any other time, not a problem, probably even beneficial as a chance to get their mind off on-pitch problems for a while

Nope. Our only other Amazon game this season is away to Chelsea on Boxing Day

The all new relegation priced thread 2019 (it gets earlier every year!).

Sounds right to me. -
Think he just needs that confidence boost that will come with his first goal. There was one cross from Cedric (I think ) on the right that fizzed across the 6 yard box about 2 yards in front of him. A player with confidence would have gambled and been on the end of it but you could almost sense he was just holding back a fraction. Guess that also comes with not being a regular, Ings would probably have expected Cedric to put it exactly where he did, Adams needed to wait and see, by which time t was too late. Still think he'll come good for us, but he's oing to take time.

Checked all my TV settings before tonight's game. First half was worse than yesterday, poor quality pic and constant buffering after the half hour mark. At half time I checked the back of the TV and my nice yellow lead was nowhere to be seen, so TV streaming via WiFi ( which to be fair should be sufficient to handle it). Found it, hardwired tv back to my router and absolutely perfect for the rest of the game. Lesson learned, check the obvious first, it's usually that

Did anyone else watch any of Amazon's coverage last night? Watched 10 minutes of Palace v Bournemouth and gave up. Not because of the game but the picture quality. Can't put my finger on it but it just doesn't seem right. Not techy enough to know if it is down to frame rate, speed of streaming or the way it's filmed but it just felt wrong. Maybe down to mt equipment ? 50" HD smart tv, watched via the app on the tv. Can't really explain it, it was almost a dreamlike quality, to the eye it was like the players were always a split second slower than the ball. Seen similar definition (for want of a better word) in films, seems ok then but maybe sport is simply to fast action for it (whatever "it" is). I'll be watching our game tonight because it's us, but if that's the normal quality it's not something I'd subscribe to permanently.

When SMS was built the club intended the Chapel to be the "home" end anyway. Why our supporters decided to dilute whatever noise they make by splitting into sections either side of the away fans has always been beyond me. I was in Chapel for the England v Kosovo game. It was listed when booking as the "home" end . Great atmosphere in that end that night, couldn't help thinking that that was SMS could have been like for every game

Ironically it was Gordon Watson who had the nickname Flash

I firmly believe what you are saying. It works in politics, it works for big business, why wouldn't a football club use the same tactics. The one thing I don't get is why the papers/media go along with it. There's nothing they like better than a scoop or exclusive that they are first to reveal. If we can see through it surely there comes a time when a sports editor sits back and thinks "hang on, every story that club x feeds us turns out to be ******, next time they send us one just bin it". Or are they that desperate for stories they'll knowingly print sh1te? -
First team shirts currently on offer at 30% off, just in time for Xmas. Bit early in the season for that, did they not shift enough early due to the delivery delay or has it simply not been a good seller this year?

Can we deduce from that that he is someone currently involved at international level whose current contract expires at the end of Euro qualifying rounds? -
999 England Games Quiz - to pass the time before Arsenal

Surprised myself there, got them all with just under 5 minutes to spare. Think the trick is to ignore the hints and just keep entering names that probably beat us and only go back to the hints once you can't think who you've missed. Works for me anyway -
Big Dave Merrington giving them the hairdryer treatment via the medium of radio. He's not a happy man.

Is she any good in defence?

I seem to have a dodgy commentary stream - they are saying we are winning ???

Harsh. But fair.

BIB: Interesting. What was said? I've missed that

Same with the M27. It was considered to be a Southampton By-Pass, they never predicted Hedge End to Eastleigh (as an example) type traffic would ever use it.
-
I'm in two minds. My first experience of using one "in action" was traveling South from NEC on M42. Heavy traffic, use of the hard shoulder eased it and kept if flowing. Seemed perfectly safe. But then I took the left fork to merge onto the South-Eastwards M40. Suddenly the M42 hard shoulder I was correctly traveling in became the M40 hard shoulder which was a "non-smart" not to be driven on hard shoulder. Some rapid lane changing was necessary as we crossed over into the M40 inside lane. Seemed like an accident waiting to happen. I guess in that instance further improved signage would help.
-
I'll make that a hat-trick of 1-3 predictions, which is currently available at 18-1 odds If only we had a regular poster on here who could advise us how cheeky little insurance bets work

You are comparing racism with nationalism. Totally different things. Of course racism is racism whether its by 1 person or 100. But the issue here is whether a club and/or country can be held accountable for it. If one sole knobhead quickly stands up in the middle of Block 13 of SMS and hurls racist abuse before quickly sitting down again he will (assuming he can be located) be dealt with by the stewards and likely never seen again. The club can hardly be held accountable for his actions. Conversely if a group of (say) 100 congregated together and systematically abuse players (and/or fans) in a racist nature then there is no way the club/authorities/stadium management could claim to be unaware of it happening. Any lack of attempt to stop it happening could only be seen as condoning it and for that then they should be held accountable. Of course racism will never be wiped out 100% (except for a Spanish Inquisition style witch hunt where all suspects are "destroyed") but that doesn't make it acceptable. God, we've not even convinced everyone that the earth is not flat yet. All we can hope for is that more and more people stand up to it and shame the perpetrators into realising they hold socially unacceptable views nowadays and it will become so rare as to be almost unheard of. There is one thing I am uncomfortable with from a sporting aspect and that is teams taking advantage of it. It's already been queried whether England would have been so keen to stay on if they were losing. Could a black player being booed every touch because he had committed a bad foul earlier in the match or dived to get a penalty start complaining to the ref? Last night was a great first step in eradicating it from our game , but it needs to seen to be dealt with fairly and correctly every single time.

That to be fair is quite shocking. So basically, for 3 and a bit seasons we have had absolutely no advantage in playing at home. Is there any other club in the entire league with such a record? Something has to be seriously wrong with our approach for that to be the case. Irrespective of what goes on on the pitch I wonder how many changes they've made in that time to pre-match routines (eg when where players meet before games etc). I'd be trying every little thing with that record. Do we still insist on attacking Chapel end second half every game? If so that's a simple experimental change worth trying for starters, because that "superstition" clearly ain't working
