  1. As I commented to a Newcastle supporting friend yesterday, Saints with a killer instinct would have been a top 8 team this season. Having said that I've no idea if 9 goals from 119 shots is good , average or poor ( I would guess the latter but don't have the stats)
  2. Went to that one too, no idea why either. If I remember rightly it was very near the end of the season and pretty much a promotion decider between the two of them. Was in Fratton End, City won with a goal in last five minutes effectively ending Pompeys promotion hopes. Glad they never scored any earlier, there's only so long you can keep a straight face in such circumstances
  3. Wigan home record identical to Swansea away record. DRAW.
  4. Thanks for the tips, will try and tweak some settings and see how it goes
  5. This, alongside written mathematics. Without them not a lot else would be possible.
  6. My wireless is rapidly becoming a pain in the arse. At random intervals it will lose access to the internet. Laptops mobiles etc will still show as connected to the network and things like mobile apps will still work but any internet related access simply stops loading. A quick pull out and push in again of the power lead solves it every time. Any ideas a)why and b) how to stop it.?
  7. ****tiest football day of my life. As mentioned above, the late train, the disorganised queue getting in late, then THAT song. Fair play to them (for probably the only time) I've never experienced anything like it before or since at football. It wasn't even intimidating, more humiliating, it seemed like every single person on all 3 sides singing it AT us straight into our faces over and over again, and we had no choice but to stand there and take it. Made me appreciate how young kid in a school playground feels being taunted by a crowd of bullies, nowhere to hide, couldn't hit back, couldn't escape. And the saddest thing was thanks to the gutless display of about 9 of our players we knew what they were singing was true. Sounds like an exaggeration but I too felt almost mentally scarred by that song for years. Now karma has come full circle and I can hear it with a smile on my face. Only shame is when we sing the WTFILN version the opposition probably have no idea what we're on about.
  8. He was from Weston , but he never played for Saints , not at first team level anyway. He jumped straight from non-league (think it was Weymouth) to Spurs. Hoddle and Redknapp will have to fight it out for the manager's job for this lot.
  9. My guess would be that the rumoured nest egg from ML to be used to push on once we reach the PL was tied up in some sort of fixed term deal to earn a good rate of interest. Thanks to that pesky NA we got there quicker than expected so money still tied up. It would probably be cheaper to borrow money in the short term (knowing funds were held to cover it but not readily accessible) than to break terms of the fixed deposit resulting not only in a loss of interest but also a penalty, All perfectly normal and sensible.
  10. Didn't realise they play each other on last day. Think Villa should stay up but if they haven't secured safety before the last day can see Wigan holding their nerve (been there done that) in a one off game and sending them down.
  11. Karma[*kahr-muh*]noun 1.*action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation: in Hinduism one of the means of reaching Brahman. 2.*the cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person's deeds in the previous incarnation. 3.*fate; destiny.

    Bomb in Boston

It's not racism. It's having easy access to video, photos, eye witness interviews etc which enables them to make a bigger story about it.
  13. Corrected that for you Nice simile at the end there.
  14. Keeper bottled it and never got close to the ball. As did the player (may have be Le Fondre) who allowed Boruc to get to his second "juggle" under no pressure when even a slight challenge may have won the ball or stopped him reaching it.. Lack of commitment like that from players is why they are going down.
  15. He did. Something I always found strange considering that in order to make sure that tickets were always available for a proportion of casual fans, the club charter at the time stated a maximum of 23000 STs would be available.
  16. That is NOT how people normally fold their arms. Has he just dropped a baby or something?
  17. Let's face it, that's the only way QPR are going to stay up.
  18. This. Whether it was fixed as in both teams coming to an agreement beforehand we'll probably never know. But both teams played the full 90 minutes in a spirit of "a draw suits us, let's not do anything that makes them want to try and beat us" Bolton also drew 0-0 that day at home to Fulham to stay a point above us (2 pts for a win in those days) so a win would have made us Champions on goal difference. Who knows, maybe both games were "pre-arranged"
  19. What happens? My guess is you end up closing down 1000s of privately owned petrol station businesses who happen to be supplied by BP and Esso. Meanwhile Shell and the others can't keep up with demand so they put up their prices. Meanwhile BP and Esso sell their surplus stocks to Shell etc so they can keep up with demand at the new higher prices. Best laid plans and all that.
  20. The fact it happens is no surprise. Naming individuals/companies - with documentary evidence - is significant
  21. Back in the pre-Sky, pre-Premier League days it was probably bigger. Winning the title over 42 games was a bigger achievement, but winning that one off final, one of the few, if not the only, matches live on TV in the entire season, was the game that everyone would remember.
  22. Just jumped a place before kick off thanks to Sunderland losing. 11th place up for grabs if we win today.
