Wanyama. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszone/8-2013/matches/695035/player-stats/54756/OVERALL_02#tabs-wrapper-anchor What's your point?

Baffled that anyone can say he had a BAD game yesterday?! He is clearly a cut above most of our squad, and does things that you can't always expect players that have come from league one to be able to read in a split second like players Osvaldo is probably used to playing with. There were a couple of things he did in and around the box yesterday that if he did in a united shirt with RVP/Rooney running in behind him, we would've got spanked.

Time for Gaston to get his chance and deliver at united? (injury permitting)

Can someone explain why he seems to be the only South American player who can't play after flying back? Ever since he's been here and gone away on international duty he's rarely been available for selection. As an example, Suarez and Cavani both played 90 minutes on Tuesday for Uruguay (Ramirez 43 minutes, not that he was ever in contention for yesterdays game) and both played 90 minutes on Saturday for their clubs. -
I don't think it was necessarily to work towards a bigger move, but we were definitely a way out of Roma for him. The amount of (reported) persuasion it took to get him to agree to come here suggests he won't be here long term and that's fine. As long as he contributes to our success and we get a decent wedge for him when he goes, everyone's a winner.

I've never been his biggest fan, but now the back 5 is a lot more solid, surely now is the best time to give him another run in the first team. Providing he's fit enough. He might give the ball away more often that not, but if he scores a goal then he's done his job. I would argue that he would probably add more to the team than lambert is currently. The defence look more than capable of dealing with teams when our passing isn't up to scratch Wanyama gives the ball away a fair bit too, and from worse positions, and we haven't been leaking goals. As far as ducking out of 50/50's he's not the worst player in the team for that, Lallana always has been IMO. I think he also needs to be told that he doesn't have to be a world beater every time he touches the ball.
-
Were some people expecting him to come here and play like he did against Barcelona every week?
-
There's no reason why we can't play all 3. Wanyama hasn't really offered much going forward so sit him infront of the back 4. Allowing Cork and Scneiderlin to press higher up the pitch which they did so well last season. (Cork is one of, if not THE best tackler we have in the squad IMO) A 3 man midfield would give the fullbacks a bit more freedom to get further forward and provide the width. And then take your pick from Lambert, Osvaldo, Ramirez, Lallana and Rodriguez for the front 3.
-
I would go with: Boruc Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw Wanyama Cork Schneiderlin Osvaldo ----------- Rodriguez Lambert The front 3 interchangeable, with the width and pace from the full backs. Tell Wanyama to keep it simple and tidy, and that will allow Cork and Schneiderlin to do what they do best.

Can we accommodate SRL & Osvaldo in the same team?

Lambert is very hard to pigeon hole as a certain type of player, because he's played so many different roles here. He has shown time and time again that it doesn't matter where on the pitch you give him the ball, he knows how to be effective. -
Has there been a better team to support over the last 5 years?

Poor league positions? They won it 3 years ago. Since 08/09 they've won 3 FA cups. 1 league title, the champions league and the Europa league. -

are you mental? 2 European titles in 2 seasons is boring? -

I can't imagine we'll be experiencing anything close to the joy of winning the premier league in injury time. For the fans that were there in div 2 just over a decade previously, I can't even imagine how good that was for them. -
Probably just came down to see his brother.
-
The best team spirit I've seen since Mourinho's first spell at Chelsea.
-
Then we had 4 main targets and someone's still telling porkies.
-
I thought Poch said our 3 targets were Wanyama, Benega and Damiao? Which 2 of those have we signed exactly? Someone's telling porkies.
-
Do they still do two meals for £9.99? Haven't been in since it changed hands.
-
Is the deadline BY or ON the 21st? I get paid on the 21st so hoping for the latter.
-
If Wigan beat Villa by a very high margin, that's all the better for us surely? Villas goal difference would be even worse.
-
Get a grip you saps. There are 6 teams between us and wigan who should be more worried than us.
-
Fox is better suited to LM, but we have better options. I thought he put a few good crosses in (among some horrendous ones) that WBA defended well. Why Fonte isn't starting over Jos I'll never understand.

Ramiez, time to settle or not good enough?
RedArmy replied to southamptonfclegend's topic in The Saints
The goal aside, he was pretty poor yesterday. Not his worst, but still a passenger. If he hasn't started producing by January, get rid. -
Lambert. 14 Premier League goals, and he's played mostly as a lone striker. Says it all really, he's class.
-
Lyon/Zagreb definitely. Ajax had 2 good goals disallowed for offside with disgracefully late flags.
-
Of course it does. If you buy an expensive car and it keeps going wrong, you'd be annoyed right? Whereas if you bought an old banger for £100 you'd take it on the chin and get a better car. No wonder clubs are in so much debt if price doesn't = performance any more.
