  1. It wouldn't surprise me if Adkins fields a starting line up on day 1 that closely resembles our Championship line-up. IIRC, our starting line-up at the beginning of last season was c.90% of the team that competed in League One. I think he'll want to show people that the club were building the core of a team that could compete in the premier league 2 - 3 years ago. I would therefore expect Sharp to start with Rodriguez on the bench (for example). I'll probably be labelled a buffoon by the forum thought police for having the temerity to suggest such a foolhardy hypothesis but we'll see....

  3. Nice video, but in what year did they banish man marking and tackling in South American football? Must have missed that announcement....
  4. Did it at Winchester about 15 years ago. Concur with all the posts thus far. It's a good experience but unless you get a major case it's mainly sitting around waiting to be called up for a 1 or 2 day case.
  5. When I visited Australia in the 80s it was against the law to warn fellow drivers about upcoming speed traps and they were very hot at catching people who did. They seemed to accept it as par for the course out there. I guess, some 30 years later, we're simply catching up with the times. Of course, if no one broke the law there wouldn't be any need to flash people in the first place....
  6. So, not even a whiff of anyone connected to Pompey thinking that it might be an idea to dish out the £30k to the most needy small creditors from either CVA1 or CVA2? Rotten to the core.
  7. ^This. What do people take this forum for? Some kind of socialist benevolent fund? Pay yer money and join in the capitalist crusade. Supply and demand. (FFS)
  8. Ok, ok....calm down ... FFS ;-)
  9. There was a BBC documentary about 6 months ago - a Robert Peston effort IIRC - where he attempted to trace back the uncontrollable rise of capitalism and the conclusion was that it all started with the communists in China (late 60s / early 70s I think) and their insatiable desire to out manoeuvre western economies via an extortionately cheap labour market. I've probably paraphrased that badly but, it was an interesting view on the whole "how did it come about" debate.
  10. So, on that logic, you'll be buying a Reading season ticket instead of a Saints one then...? They are cheaper after all and you'll get to see a similar quality of football...or maybe some choices are just down to good old fashioned subjective human preference rather than science or logic... ;-)
  11. Ryanair or a decent airline....?

  14. The great British public love nothing more than a good old moan about stuff so this will no doubt satisfy our collective craving for something to vent our spleen over...
  15. Indeed. But whichever party had been in opposition at the time you can bet they would have endeavoured to have laid a portion of the blame the other party....
  16. What are those figures as a percentage of the existing numbers? Cheers
  17. Are people suggesting that if this had happened on the Tory's watch then Labourites wouldn't be banging on about how badly they had handled the situation? Both 'sides' are as bad as eachother IMO.
  18. Indeed. The very same inflated debt that is now being challenged under CVA 2 in order to reduce HMRC's stake even further...funny old game
  19. I guess we'd revert to a Saints vs Arsenal 90 min game in a worst case scenario?

  25. As you say, strange that such a potentially important manoeuvre is tucked away at the end of a 'football round-up' column. Here it is loud and clear for anyone who hasn't clicked on the link: "Meanwhile, administration-hit Portsmouth are believed to have applied to join the Blue Square set-up in case their rescue proposals fail." I think many of us had assumed they would have been working on a 'plan B' behind the scenes but this is the first time I've seen it mooted in the national press.
