I'm not advocating it from a 'rest' perspective per se, well not this early in the season. I'm more coming from a 'protect our best players' angle....statistically, the probability of a player getting injured increases linearly (I'd have thought) with the number of games they play. All I'm advocating is the minimising of risk in our league campaign.

Ok, I know, I know......new season - same old chestnut debate..... But, in the context of last season where there was (allegedly) some 'difference of opinion' between our chairman and manager as to the importance of our cup run(s), I'm convinced that we shouldn't play the same full strength team 3 times in an 8 day period - case in point being: Saturday 7th Aug - Plymouth (league) Tuesday 9th Aug - Bournemouth (cup) Saturday 14th Aug - MK Dons (league) Pardew's hand was forced somewhat last season in that some players were cup tied so it will be interesting to see what he does this season with a fresh deck of cards. I've actually switched sides on this argument over the years as I've historically been in the "they're fit professional footballers so they should be able to play more than one game a week without any trouble" camp but this season it is paramount we channel every single ounce of effort into a push for the league title. And, yes, I'm also mindful of the other-side-of-the-coin logic which ventures that success in one tournament breeds success in another, and, yes, that can be true. But absolute concentration on one tournament at the expense of the others can also pay dividends too. So, start with Rickie on the 7th August v Plymouth and pop him on the bench on the 9th August v Bournemouth? IMHO.....yes.

Was there a default font setting or do you have to change the font for each reply? ta -
There was a recent upgrade to the Tapatalk app which mentioned that an equivalent update was required on the forum plug-in side to activate it. Might have something to do with it?

I'm a little surprised that Cortese hasn't convinced them to release the fixtures at 11:15pm to be honest..... ;-) -
I notice the club are promoting their text message service ahead of tomorrow's fixtures being released saying they will send out the fixtures "after 9am"....am I reading this correctly in that they are suggesting that they will send out the fixtures to subscribers ahead of the official 10am announcement (that's the time it's normally announced isn't it?) or is this just a marketing ploy? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2071955,00.html

Cheers for the reply Steve. I agree with you that there will always be people that "resist change" and I don't usually fall into that camp. The only thing I would change personally is the 'harsh' white background. On my monitor the 'blanket' whiteness has a tendancy to exentuate any flicker in my monitor (yes, perhaps I should get a new one!) and, even as I'm typing this I'm having to blink more rapidly and look away as the blast of whiteness is discomforting on the eye. As I say, 100% not a "change resisting" moan from me. Just an obersvation that, from my persepctive, the glare from the expanse of white is a little discomforting. How about trying, for say one day, swapping the main text window and quote window background colours around (i.e. use the grey for the quotes as the main background) and see how it looks. I'm assuming this should be quite easy to flip round just so people can see if it looks and feels any better. I like the changes in general, I just think there's a valid point people are making with regards the 'harsh on the eye' white background. Cheers -
IMHO, this will ultimately depend on our league position rather than the cost of entry to the ground. If we are flying high then attendances will be comparable, if not higher, to last season (i.e. 20k - 30k). If, on the other hand, we get off to a mediocre start then attendances will fall back into the teens. Supply and demand

Pardew to field a reserve team for this so that we can concentrate on the league this year....?
