Unless I'm misremembering, I seem to recall seeing a stat recently which showed we currently / historically create more chances than a lot of teams, which would tend to suggest our problem is more to do with chance conversation rather than chance creation...? Perhaps someone with their finger on the stats pulse could confirm or refute this.

This stat surprised me: "Scienza was fouled three times during his cameo against Pompey, more than any other Saints player, despite coming on with eight minutes to go." Doesn't that underline how passive our tactics and/or players were? We should have been drawing fouls all over the pitch but only a newbie during an 8 minute cameo was able to achieve that. Still needs to put a rocket up their collective arses, but does he have the managerial acumen to do so? Yep, if someone had said: "pick the worst date to play the first derby match" the 14th September would have been a prime candidate... First fixture after the transfer window with an international break thrown in for good measure. Glad it's out of the way and we can now get into a normal routine for the upcoming games.

Surprised to see various people pointing out the atmosphere wasn't great. I was in the Northam and apart from a dip towards the end of the first half I thought the atmosphere was great. Plenty of singing and chanting. Gotta be something to do with poor stadium acoustics if this wasn't apparent from other parts of the ground?

How does that work, given they've had 7 shots and none on target? (I'm not defending our woeful performance btw)

Yep, agree. I've been feeling for a while now that all this whipped up hype by the club's media department could back fire on us. The best approach, in my humble opinion, would have been to treat the build up like any other game and leave all the emotion stuff until the players take to the pitch. Just feels a tad manufactured to me, but maybe that's just me being a grumpy old git 😁
