  1. - Sign Fonte for £1m as a 26 year old - Rise from League 1 to the Premier League with Fonte in the team - Sell him to West Ham for £10m as a 33 year old - Get 26 year old Mamadou Sakho to replace 33 year old Jose Fonte ________________ Not bad really, if that is what happens.

    Puel

Austin's last full Premier League season saw him get 18 league goals for a terrible team that created little. He was the 4th top scorer in the league, only Aguero, Kane and Costa scored more.
  3. You've made 27,380 posts on here in the last 10 years,I challenge you to make a list linking to 10 positive posts of your from those 27,380. I'm guessing you will struggle as pretty much everything you ever Say on here is negative. Don't you get bored of it? The last 7 and a half years have been a relative golden era for the club compared to most of its history.
  4. Obligatory "best bits" video... [video=youtube;G-hzlahTsdk]
  5. The interest from China in Pelle started to be reported in January 2016. We signed Austin in Janaury as the opportunity to get him cheap came up. The club have briefed the press Austin was indeed a pre-emptive replacement for Pelle. Some Saints fans appear to think that a replacement can only be signed after the original player leaves.
  6. Do you have a viable alternative strategy you would like to outline? Does it involve... - letting Wanyama's contract run out in summer 2017 and him leaving for £0? - or signing players that none of the rich clubs would want to buy in the future? Football has a pecking order, Saints will never be at the top of it. So if we are to have very good players you have to accept they will be sold. We simply can't compete with Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal & Man Utd on wages. So stop with these daft threads you start and posts and engage your brain.
  7. We are 3 players different to last season's team. Is... - Austin really inferior to Pelle - Boufal really inferior to Mane - Romeu really inferior to Wanyama ??? Boufal hasn't played enough for any Saints fan to justify him not being as useful as Mane. Romeu is having a superb season as first choice and Austin was the pre-emptive replacement for Pelle and is our top scorer.
  8. Only if the stadium surrounding areas are unsafe, because the Turf Moor pitch has undersoil heating so snow isn't a problem.
  9. Are you being serious? A large number of Championship players are on more than £25k p/w, let alone a 26 year old French international from Liverpool.
  10. Why did you think that? We had the most difficult recovery times over the festive games, plus have the League Cup semis to deal with. The rotation with Europa League games was due to high numbers of fixtures, that is still the case, probably until February now when it should give us more recovery time and a week to prepare for each game. Some Saints fans still live in the 1970/80/90's when it comes to sports science. Players these days run considerably further each match and in training than they ever did 10/20/30 years ago, it is hard to recover for another high level match days later. Also some Saints fans overlook players have different recovery times and demands in different positions aren't the same. For example van Dijk is better able to recover than Fonte and players such as the fullbacks need more rotation due to the huge amounts of running they do in Southampton's style of play.
  11. When you rotate players to keep them fresh in a hectic schedule, having a good game doesn't necessarily matter. With Austin injured, Rodriguez has been playing in the more important/more difficult fixtures (Spurs/Everton/Liverpool) and Long gets the games inbetween (West Brom & Norwich), that decision is probably made in advance of performances in games.
  12. If that is true, he'd need to move to a foreign league.
  13. I'm intrigued to see you list some of these and provide good evidence they were "lies".
  14. You agree you would write an article about Saints in the same way an attention seeking Talksport presenter & Mirror "journalist" who supports Portsmouth would right one? :mcinnes: At least you've reached the first stage and finally admitted it at long last!!!
  15. What is "quiet" exactly? You support Saints, not West Ham who feel the need to blurt out to SSN they are signing X, Y & Z. Just because Saints transfer news isn't in the press, doesn't mean they aren't doing lots of things behind the scenes. In any case January really isn't a good month to be a buyer, as it is harder to get good value for money.
  16. Not sure why you've jumped to that conclusion.

  20. After 19 games... Koeman 2015/16 = 12th Puel 2016/17 = 9th & a League Cup semi final

  23. It appears you both have English comprehension problems, read what I said word for word again.
  24. You know we haven't played in a diamond since the first few games of the season don't you? It is more like this...
  25. People have been giving him stick for his kicking. Which hasn't been great, but many overlook the difficult way some of them have come back to him, especially those at pace on to his left foot that need to be dealt with quickly. Apart from that I see little wrong with his game and some people seem to just be looking for scapegoats anytime we lose.
