  1. This has been explained to Batman on numerous occasions and he refuses to take it in. He can't grasp that Saints to their credit have had a large number of players good enough for significantly richer clubs and that is why they leave. As you rightly point out, teams like Hull, Watford and Stoke don't have the quanity of good players Saints have, so they don't have the volume of interest in their squad that Saints have had. That is why we've lost more than them. Instead Batman goes on constant flawed rants against people like Les Reed... a man key to the club's rise and the conveyor belt of new high quality talent we keep bringing in to replace those that leave. The time to worry is not when we sell to significantly richer clubs, the time to worry is when we don't have players those clubs would want, as that would indicate a drop in quality and recruitment at Saints. Something which hasn't happened. Batman will of course repeat his flawed arguments throughout the rest of the season, into the summer... and beyond!
  2. I think it is possibly a one man company and relatively smalltime... 22vl6tlNn
  3. Are Pompey going to have an open top bus parade to celebrate finishing 71st out of 92 clubs?
  4. Exeter isn't on the coast.
  5. :mcinnes: Why are you making up what I said in the original post? Nowhere in my original post does it use use the word "rivals". All I did is put on the map all football teams in the top 4 leagues that are located on the south coast of England. Are you denying Plymouth is on the South Coast? Portsmouth and Plymouth have a "south coast dockland derby", so I'm unsure why on earth you take issue with this.
  6. I mean Bournemouth (but I can't edit posts not being a member)
  7. If Brighton stay up, then...
  8. If Bournemouth stay up this season, then...
  9. We have beaten a team in the top 6 this season. 1-0 win at St Mary's on 27th November 2016. Were you not there?
  10. I'm not saying it'll be a disaster, or that Boufal couldn't replace him. But Tadic is a lot more useful than some Saints fans give him credit. For example since Tadic signed for Saints in 2014, he is only beaten by 3 players for assists in the Premier League... 1st Fàbregas 32 2nd Özil 30 3rd Eriksen 26 4th Tadić 24
  11. Having Gabbiadini from the start of next season, rather than late January will make a difference to that. Plus backed up by a hopefully fully fit again Austin (cue injury "jokes"), who was in good goalscoring form. Gabbiadini and Austin as 1st and 2nd choice strikers for one striking position is pretty good to start a season with. Gabbidini from the start of the season will make a big difference I think, and if Austin is fit then he is a great goalscoring alternative. Long is a useful 3rd choice as he is a defenders nightmare, but as we all know his finishing lets him down compared to Gabbiadini and Austin.
  12. Brighton to Bournemouth = 97 miles Leeds to Newcastle = 97 miles
  13. If Everton make a bid for him, the bigger and richer clubs aren't going to sit there and do nothing. He is destined for the top and a few seasons at Everton isn't going to help to achieve that quickly for him or his agent. He is good enough already to warrant a huge club to pay Saints a colossal fee.
  14. I don't see why a Saints fan should take an issue with that. Different clubs have varying degrees of credit for players development, some players move from club to club at academy ages so development is down to more than one club.
  15. McQueen & Sims came on at the same time Ward-Prowse went off. Stephens played a season for Southampton's under 18 academy side, so I don't see why you wouldn't count him. He was at Plymouth's academy for longer, but playing a season for Saints academy teams makes him a Saints academy product.
  16. You still appear confused that "ankle ligament damage" isn't a catch all phrase, there are varying degrees of severity of all injuries. I've pointed this out to you a few times now and you haven't grasped the concept.
  17. He can be seen in the training videos & photo galleries in the build up to first team matches. It is simply a case of Saints only name 2 centre backs in the starting XI and 1 on the bench, so there isn't room for Gardos in the matchday 18. Probably isn't getting under 23 game time anymore because he has been back in training for long enough and the club see giving Caceres game-time and game-time to young centre backs like Cook as more important than blocking them and using Gardos.
  18. Did you actually read my responce beyond the opening sentence? It appears you did and instead concentrated on the opening sentance and ignored the rest. They explain why your thinking is flawed. Different injuries have different levels if severity. None of us have a clue as to the exact details of either Kane or Gabbiadini's injuries. Plus I don't know where you got "minor groin strain" "ankle ligament damage" from. Are you aware even if those are what they had, that there are different levels of groin and ankle ligament injuries. Some groin and ankle problems are more severe than others. Neither of us are aware of the exact details of the injury so it is bizarre you use it as a stick to beat the club with.
  19. :mcinnes: No it isn't, it is a bizarre & irrelevant point. Different injuries have different levels if severity. None of us have a clue as to the exact details of either Kane or Gabbiadini's injuries.
  20. It was reckless and dangerous, it doesn't matter if it fully connected or not. Nor does getting the ball first automatically exonerate him as many pundits and fans wrongly believe.
  21. It was a potential leg breaker... If Herrera's foot wasn't up and instead had his studs and weight planted in the ground, then his leg may have snapped. Getting the ball first doesn't automatically exonerate someone of getting a red card. Challenges that are reckless like that can break legs, so fully deserve red cards.
  22. ??? No it isn't. We have Cedric & Pied as 1st and 2nd choice, plus Valery looks promising,
  23. :mcinnes: Pompey are 3rd in the 4th tier ffs! Very strange thing to be proud of! - Pompey out of 92 English league clubs are 71st - Saints out of 92 English league clubs are 9th 9th vs 71st The gulf is vast between the two clubs. We are and likely will remain light years ahead of you in terms of... - team quality - stadium infrastructure - fanbase size - training ground quality - academy quality etc etc ...for the foreseeable future!
  24. Since his debut in August 2014, Dušan Tadić has 4th highest assists in Premier League... 1st Fàbregas 32 2nd Özil 30 3rd Eriksen 26 4th Tadić 24
  25. He was on the bench vs Palace. Sims hasn't been injured, it is simply a case of him being down the pecking order. If fit the likes of Tadic, Redmond, Ward-Prowse, Long, Boufal, Rodriguez, Gabbiadini who are more senior are more likely to get a spot in the team or as an attacking option on the bench. It is unlikely Puel will drop a more senior player if fit to make way for Sims.
