The released/retained list is only for players that have contract due to expire on 30th June of that year. Mayuka signed a 5 year deal with Saints in 2012, so his contract ends on 30th June 2017.

Cedric Soares is the replacement for Clyne.

Its still quite a push to list him as part of a 1st team squad at the moment. He is only 16 years old, played a lot for the under 18's last season but hasn't established himself in the under 21's team. If you are going to include Stephens, McCarthy, Hesketh and Gallagher, then why not Seager, McQueen, Turnbull, Mugabi and Gape etc? They are all too young to be listed in the 25 man squad anyway.

He is 16 years old and just left school. He may progress quickly, but he'll start the season with the under 18's and under 21's.

Do you mean this interview? Because he doesn't say that at all, he is referring to Juanmi being the addition to the attacking midfielders, not that he wants any more. Plus... We are in need of a centre back, but where else are you both suggesting we are short? We probably won't be signing another central midfielder until a deal for Schneiderlin is looking likely. We have a lot of attacking players now and Koeman appears to have indicated he is happy in that regard.

He started only 11 Premier League games for Hull.

The club appear to think they have a good legal case that all we had to pay is £6.8m as Madrid missed the deadline. If that is the price you contractually believe you need to pay, then why roll over have your belly tickled and pay more?

Give it enough time and at some point Saints will sign a player for £20m. Might not be that many years away, especially with a huge rise in TV money from 2016/17 onwards.

He can play in the same CM position, but his role would be different.

Where do you think Rodriguez is going to play then? Because if you don't see him going out wide and he'll play centrally, then I guess you don't think we need another striker. Mane, Long, Elia and Tadic all cut inside in Koeman's system.

Not going to answer my question then? In terms of assists, only Tadic had more for us. So how was Ward-Prowse ineffective? Plus in any case, Reed and Ward-Prowse play in different roles and are each better than the other at different things.
