Which Italian, Spanish, French, German and English clubs would Koeman have seen in 2014 as a more attractive job than Feyenoord? Which Italian, Spanish, French, German and English clubs would Koeman see as a more attractive job than Saints? Do you not think there is a difference between the two lists and therefore the situations? .......... Unless he thinks he can get one of the relatively small number of clubs more attractive than Saints then he won't let his contract run down.
-
He let his contract run down and left Feyenoord to get a job in a higher profile league, probably looking at Spain, England, Germany, Italy. He currently has a job for a progressive club in the world's most high profile league. He has no need to let it run down unless he thinks he can get a job at a more attractive club than us. The number of such clubs has rapidly decreased in recent years.

What is the "issue of the thread" in your view? The opening post was merely asking for questions to ask Reed and made one suggestion, not raising an issue.
-
Why rule out the possibility of him signing a new deal? If he doesn't have an offer of a more attractive club, why would he leave?
-
What is the point in asking that? What kind of answer could Reed possibly give to it? I'm sure Koeman was always aware if a richer club offers big money to Clyne and Schneiderlin there was a good chance they'd leave. If a big European club comes in for Koeman he'll probably go and Reed will already have in mind who he wants to replace him.

Why was it bull****? "Might" doesn't mean "definitely will".
-
It hasn't. Our first team is now packed for of internationals (more so then ever before in our history), it is a very different task for a teenager from our academy to surpass international players. The bar is a lot higher. That does' mean the club doesn't have a youth policy of getting players into the first team, it just may take them longer to get there now.
-
Here is what we can win tomorrow...
-
What are you saying they haven't been honest about?
-
Koeman gave league debuts to 5 academy players last season (plus we have Ward-Prowse, Reed and Gallagher who are all around the first team and have played for them) and regularly has academy players training with the first team. Which other Premier League clubs did that? Let alone one that finished 7th!
-
Replace Morgan Schneiderlin with Jordy Clasie, sign another 1st choice CB... Plus: Keepers - Forster, K.Davis, Gazzaniga Defenders - Yoshida, Gardos, Martina Targett, McCarthy, Stephens Midfielders - Reed, Ward-Prowse, S.Davis, Gape Attacking players - Long, Tadic, Ramirez, Gallagher, Seager, Isgrove, Hesketh
-
Its not "getting away with it", it is to their credit they have the recruitment structures in place so we can find good replacements. Its not sheer luck. How do you propose Saints stop our best players wanting huge wage rises and Champions League football?
-
What makes you think that has stopped?
-
Alpine, I thought you were impressed with Cedric Soares and Juanmi?
-
Not really, we have a lot of options in the attacking roles behind Pelle... Mane, Ramirez, Rodriguez, Juanmi, S.Davis, Ward-Prowse, Long, Isgrove, Tadic - thats 9 players for 3 positions (sometimes 2) Alternatives to Pelle upfront can be using combinations of... Mane, Rodriguez, Juanmi, Long, Gallagher, Seager (a replacement for Pelle doesn't have to be a target man, we used Long and Mane upfront together away at Chelsea and it worked well)

This'll be an interesting listen.... Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport Looking forward to interviewing #saintsfc director Les Reed this afternoon - hear it in the Sportshour tonight on @BBCRadioSolent after 6pm
-
No he didn't, he said we were short but Juanmi signing fills that gap in the squad.
-
Ramirez, Mane, Juanmi and Tadic could all play as a "number 10".
-
He'd be insured against injuries.
-
So you think we'll cope without Clyne then?
-
Are you wearing a blue coat?
-
I wouldn't even know where to start with that. So much wrong with two short sentences, you've got it down to an art form!

Leipzig came 5th in the German 2nd tier last season. I haven't looked to check how strong a line-up they've used today, but the club is at a decent level.
