These 5 don't... Ward-Prowse Chambers Shaw Gazzaniga Isgrove

They were probably trying to find a buyer earlier in the summer, couldn't find anyone interested enough to take on his wages at Saints and so released him by mutual consent.

Here we go! First Team line up against West Brom thread

Because he is a WUM. -
A lot of our players would be sellable if relegation happened. The likes of Wanyama, Ramirez, Lovren, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Clyne, Rodriguez etc would be snapped up before any Championship wage decrease was required. It is a young squad and would raise a large amount.

That might be difficult... [video=youtube;DGaUjQp5-3E]

So what? It is an indication that Saints may have been looking for right backs earlier in the summer - which was the point I was making. But now after 4 weeks of Chambers with the 1st team, Pochettino has decided he is good enough.

Saints will get 'development fee' if bale is sold
Matthew Le God replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
Because its not a rumour and it is a basic regulation of football transfers. -
Possibly a reference to this... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-target-jesus-gamez-transfer-1899854

He plays at centre back for Saints.

Clyne a possible injury doubt for the start of the season...

Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC 2m Pochettino: "Calum has shown in his performances in pre-season that he is more than capable of performing at this level." #saintsfc Suggests he is the back-up for Clyne.

£22.67m is more than £22m.
-
Even if those figures from that site were true over all the other sources showing lower fees, only the Ferdinand one is more than the reported £22.67m for Damiao.
-
Where are you getting those figures? Bent - £16.5m http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6252254.stm Owen - £17m http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/4200808.stm Ferdinand - £18.5m http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/2140871.stm
-
None of those were for more than the reported Damiao figure of £22.67m.
-
How do you know that?

He left Saints 3 years before SLH went into admin. The club embarked on a spending spree in the summer Higginbotham left.

- First 2 seasons (2001/02 and 2002/03) combined at St Mary's under Lowe in the Premier League, Saints spent roughly £14.5m and sold £8m - First 2 seasons (2012/13 and the unfinished 2013/14) combined at St Mary's under Liebherr in the Premier League, Saints spent roughly £60m (still time for that to increase) and sold £1.5m I don't think singing Rory Delap in 2001 is on the same level as signing players like Ramirez, Wanyama and Lovren in the last year. Those three are players linked with some big clubs, could the same be said of Delap? If Delap was 25 years old and in the Championship in 2013, would he cost £12m?

Lord Sugar @Lord_Sugar 16h What is that football players and agents don't understand. If there is a contract in place for 3 years, they have to stick to it. #bale Bale was under contract at Southampton, I wonder if Lord Sugar held that same view in 2007 when Spurs signed him? I doubt it - hypocrite! -
That article is 8 days old.

That is Joe Curtis. -
Was that you pretending to be Dalek2003, or your own view? I hope its the former.

I'll bite, please elaborate?

Welling isn't that far from Southend, so it is possible he was in Southend 2 hours ago and joined up with Saints at Welling. But would be an odd build up for a game to be away from the squad, would Southend be watching him play tonight before rubber stamping the deal?

He is in Welling playing for Saints tonight... Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC 31s #SaintsFC XI team versus @wellingunited: Cropper, Young, Mugabi, McCarthy, Targett, Curtis, Moore, De Ridder, Sinclair, Lee, Forte.
