  1. He was in the training videos on Thursday and is on the bench today so that isn't true.
  2. Those four players I mentioned would all improve the under 21 team and give them a better chance of winning games. Difference is, Saints unlike most Premier League clubs use home grown teenagers in the starting line-up for Premier League games.
  3. When Gareth Bale finally moves to Real Madrid, Southampton will overtake Tottenham in terms of net spend in summer of 2013.
  4. Southampton's best young players are in the first team playing in the Premier League. Same can't be said of most of Southampton's opponents at this level. Shaw, Ward-Prowse and Chambers all 18 years old and started both Premier League games this season. Even Gazzaniga is still eligible for the under 21's.
  5. Don't watch this then...
  6. I doubt he has bothered looking in detail at the 2011/12 Southampton Championship accounts (not that they are particularly relevant to 2013/14) and the 2012/13 Premier League accounts aren't available, so as it came over on the SSN interview he is merely guessing.
  7. Knowing Southampton's accounts from 2011/12 in the Championship is very different to talking about the wage bill in 2013/14 in the Premier League. I think Saints have more room for manoeuvre in the £52m than West Ham do, even more so if Saints shift Hammond, Sharp, Tadanari Lee, Martin Barnard and Forte.
  8. Does companies house currently show Southampton's wage bill for 2013/14? No it doesn't, and that is what David Gold talked about on Sky Sports News... the Southampton wage bill for 2013/14. He doesn't even have access to the wage bill for 2012/13! So he has little idea how close to the £52m Southampton are as there is little in the way of data for Saints wage bill in the Premier League.
  9. Can you read Glasgow_Saint? hypochondriac said David Gold knows nothing about Southampton's finances, not that he knows nothing about finance. Two very different things.
  10. I doubt we'd suddenly start using a system we haven't used under Pochettino before this season.
  11. Shaw and Schneiderlin both trained today.
  12. Pochettino denied it when asked about him in this morning's press conference.
  13. Nathaniel Clyne and Victor Moses will know each other well from the years playing together in the Crystal Palace academy and first team.
  14. Matthew Targett and Sam Gallagher are in the Scotland under 19 squad vs Finland.
  15. Its a lot shorter than us winning the league.
  16. Fun is winning a cup at Wembley and going on a European tour next season. A match against Tranmere at St Mary's will likely see us have the best chance possible of getting to the 4th round. We should want the easiest possible fixture for Saints in any cup draw.
  17. The worst team left in the competition at St Mary's. Not sure why any Saints fan would want anything else. Good chance of winning this cup, so the easier the route to the final the better.
  18. After the Morecambe vs Newcastle game tomorrow on Sky.
  19. Mayuka is starting.
  20. Its more fun than talking to Glasgow_Saint.
  21. Why is any of that "disrespectful"? Barnsley finished last season in 21st place and have had a poor start to this season. Why is it then unreasonable to call them one of the weakest sides in the Championship? Hooiveld, Cork, Do Prado, Fox, K.Davis played an important part in a Championship promotion team and some of them an important part for a Premier League side last season, Yoshida, S.Davis played important roles in Saints Premier League season last year, Mayuka is an international - why is it then unreasonable to expect those players to be able to beat a poor Championship side?
  22. Fox and Do Prado are good Championship level players that played an important role in a promotion from that league with Saints. They should be more than capable of putting in a good performance against one of the weakest Championship sides if used tonight.
  23. Norwich are at home to Bury tonight, they will likely rest their strongest line-up as they won't be needed. If Saints used their strongest team tonight they wouldn't be in training tomorrow for the Norwich game.
