Are you aware how this will all come back to haunt you as it did in 2010/11 and 2011/12? Cheer up Alpine ffs!
-
If Sunderland win Saints drop a place, if Villa win or it is a draw Saints don't drop a place. The more teams below Saints the better do you not think?
-
I want Villa to win tonight. Relegation isn't a worry and it helps keep Sunderland below Saints. I want Saints to finish as high as possible (as we all should), so a Sunderland defeat helps that.

What an interesting summer we are in for...
Matthew Le God replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I didn't say they would stand still. But our transfer strategy that you dismiss as poor has led to Saints getting 35 points from the last 25 games. That is top 8 form! So why is it "poor"? If Saints bring in more players of the quality of Clyne, Ramirez, Rodriguez, Davis and Boruc this summer then I'll be delighted. As should you! Forren is an unknown quantity, Mayuka and Gazzaniga have looked promising in brief cameos this season and Yoshida has been solid if not spectacular. I wouldn't write any of them off yet and are all still relatively young. -

But our "track record of transfers" has led to picking up 35 points from the last 25 games. Unlike last season (8 defeats, 1 draw, 1 win, 28 goals conceded) the first 10 games of next season we won't be a newly promoted club trying to adjust to the Premier League, that has already happened. If we continue the form of the last 25 games over the season in 2013/14 we'd have 52 points and would be around 8th (if based on this season's table)! -

Since the beginning of November 2012 Saints have averaged 1.36 points per game from those 25 games. If that was over a 38 game season we'd have 52 points and would be enough for 8th place. The squad has now adapted well to the Premier League after a poor start in the opening 10 games, we'll see improvements in the summer to add to what is already a midtable quality squad. You are trying to make out we are relegation threatened and will be again next season, the squad have shown over the last 25 games that is simply not true. The first 10 games of next season we won't be newly promoted and trying to adjust to the Premier League, that has already happened. -

We are 3 points from 9th, 7 points from the relegation zone. We will bring in better players in the summer to add to a squad that is already midtable in quality. I really don't see the need for Alpine's annual summer rant. Alpine, if last summer someone said Saints as a newly promoted side would be 13th with 3 games to go and closer to 9th than the relegation zone, what would you have said given your rant last summer about the transfers? -

- We are a newly promoted team and are 13th with 3 games to go. - We are 3 points away from 9th and 7 away from the relegation zone. Calm down Alpine. -
All games at Staplewood are behind closed doors.

You have taken that out of the context it was written, I was replying to a point Dalek2003 made about needing 41 points. For Saints to need as many as 41 points a huge number of surprising results need to happen. So unlikely it isn't worth thinking about.
-
Remember your "17th in the Championship prediction"? Top 2 ALL season and promoted was reality!!!
-
For Saints to need 41 points to stay up it would require (given our goal difference)... - Wigan to get 9 points from Arsenal away, Swansea home, West Brom away plus importantly Villa home. AND - Villa to get 7 points from Sunderland home, Norwich away, Chelsea home plus importantly Wigan away. AND - Newcastle, Sunderland, Norwich, Stoke, Fulham to overtake 41 points in next 4 games ................. Can you not see why it is extremely unlikely as it ALL has to happen, not just some of it? What do you gain from such trolly nonsense? We all know you are a troll and hopefully you know you are a troll or else you are truly insane!
-
That conflicts with your statements over how many points you think Saints need. In order to do such a thing you need to predict how teams will do so you can work out a points total. If you actually did use the BBC predictor you will see how unlikely it is for Saints to go down given all the results that would need to happen. Mr Troll, either do the predictor or shut up about it.
-
Why are you not going to provide a screenshot of your BBC predictor league table with Saints relegated Dalek2003? I know you are a troll, but at least provide me with an excuse or actually provide the screenshot!
-
You still didn't answer the question. Please provide a list of results that would see Saints relegated, easiest way would be to use the BBC predictor and put a screenshot on here of the final league table. I'm intrigued if he can maintain being a troll about this after using the BBC predictor link. I think he'll give it a good go regardless of seeing how unlikely it would be for Saints to be relegated given the actual situation with few games left, a number of teams below Saints and some having to play each other.
-
Last season you said we'll come 17th in the Championship, we actually stayed in the top 2 all season and were promoted. Will you be providing us a screenshot of your BBC predictor results?
-
Why do you bother with such nonsense year after year? Please use this and post a screenshot of the scenario that sees Saints relegated... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor/default.stm

UPDATE: The BBC have now changed that article. But they acknowledge the change here... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22329676

The BBC are wrong, if Reading & QPR draw they are both down today and don't wait until Monday as Villa & Wigan play each other on last day. So 17th will have a minimum of 35 points and a draw for QPR & Reading means max they can get is 34 points. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21686144
