They needed to have the replacement manager lined up before firing Puel, Just as Cortese did when he replaced Adkins. That was the biggest mistake....

It doesn't matter to the football club whether they get the £70m all in one go, or staged payments as long as they get the headline figure it. Any transfers in to Southampton will be staged in just the same way. Mind you if the money is going to Mr Gao, he might like it all in one hit....

It's exactly like the relegation season in 2005, when we hung on to a manager who was totally out of his depth, and then made the change when it was far to late. On that occasion it was Rupert Lowe being totally bloody minded in stating that Wigley had the job for the remainder of the season. It would appear to be Déjà vu with Les Reed this time.........

You would assume that LFC conducted a rigorous medical, would have been extremely embarrassing had he(VvD) failed it.........

Was it Keith Chegwin who famously proclaimed whilst presenting Saturday Swap Shop live from Southsea sea front, that the good citizens of Portsmouth must be really interested in football because of their close proximity to the great football city of Southampton - or words to that effect. This being not long after the 1976 FA Cup final? I seem to remember watching it......
