He's going to be a top, top player. Love reading "expert" opinions on him from posters on here. Probably the same ones writing Morgan off when we were in League 1. For those comparing him to Scholes, lets also remember Scholes started out up front at Man Utd before moving back in to midfield a couple of years later where he was afforded the time to perfect his craft alongside people like Beckham and Roy Keane. I don't think many people are predicting JWP to be better than Scholes but it is likely he will develop in to the same sort of player. His potential is unreal.

Got caught napping in possession once in the 2nd half but apart from that did well. Hope he gets the chance to keep hold of the shirt for a good run.

Always going to be people in the media looking to unsettle plucky teams/players punching above their level. Look at Betahino's first press conference since getting in the England squad. Basically getting him to admit he'll need to move clubs soon in order to progress his career. Its wrong but won't stop and theres nothing you can do about it. Just enjoy the fact we seem to be defying the "experts" at every turn.

Got a lot of time for Keegan. An absolute gent every time I've met him and he loves the Saints.

Last player to be transferred from Southampton to Man City?

Sports casual. Good choice.

Good player, been fast tracked due to pressure put on the club by those around him only too keen to point out Arsenal are sniffing around. Probably wouldn't be playing in the 18s and with a scholarship at 15 without it though so have to doff your cap a little. Always been highly rated by the club though.

Saints are as cut throat as any club as discarding youth players who they feel won't make the grade.

Brendan Rodgers is finally showing himself up as one of the biggest charlatans football has ever seen. Top level manager my arse.

Reminds me a bit of Peter Beardsley but playing out wide. Has the ability to beat a man with quick feet rather than pace and to put the ball on a sixpence. Seems to take just as much pleasure from creating as scoring hoals himself which is a great asset for a team to have.

Saints have recently signed the son of Slovakia's Prime Minister too apparently...
-
I think he's done well. Good option off the bench and adds depth and experience. Reminds me a bit of Craig Bellamy.

Jesus wept. Ever thought of a career in football coaching or motivational speaking?

How can it be Kitson? He never got an Englad call up did he? Seemed to remember he was a full international wasnt he?
-
If he was playing 10 mins a week for Saints you reckon he'd still be getting the regular England call ups? I don't. I buzz every time I see Rickie come off the bench for England because I know how much it means to him and also the reason he is there is down to what he did at Saints.
-
Cant begrudge Rickie his moce one bit. Why should we? He'd be playing the same role here and probably not in the England squad if he stayed here.

It'll never, ever happen.

Phil Neville saying QPR should have got something out of the game just about summed it up for me.

What a signing this lad has been. Seems to buy in to the spirit of the club and doesn't come across as an ego given he is a European Cup winner. Has it been confirmed we have an option to buy (and agreed fee) at the end of the loan?
-
Strange feeling. Obviously I'm delighted but I'm not even surprised we won tonight. Expected us to win. Only thing I am surprised about is Arsenal fielded a stronger team than I thought they would.

The debt at Newcastle hasn't been paid off at all. It is instead an interest free loan that Ashley has every intention of re-couping so the debt is still very much there. There is also the small matter of using St James Park as a blank cancas to advertise Sports Direct and the coverage he gets as a result when the advertising space could be better put to use by selling it to other companies. Ashley is turning a profit at Newcastle, there is no doubt about that.
-
Is today the transfer deadline day or has it been extended to tomorrow?

I remember when a resurgent Newcastle under Bobby Robson splashed £6m on Craig Bellamy (comparable money in todays massively over inflated market) from recently relegated Coventry after an awful season. I remember my geordie mates in uproar about it at the time. What a signing he turned out to be. Long has a few similar attributes. I think he 'll win everyone over.
