  1. What is it with fans wanting us singing really busy, long winded songs with verses, bridges and choruses? My Liverpool supporting mate tries to impress me with them all the time and it's just boring. Goes on wayyyy tooooo loooooong.
  2. He wasnt given the opportunity. Lets see if Cortese's resolve is as strong in January...
  3. So your argument is if someone came in and bid £10m for AOC, £5m for Fonte or £7m for Lallana we wouldnt accept because we are under no pressure to... Do you not think the players would want a say in the matter?
  4. Cant see why you'd think it was strange logic. Are you saying Theo Walcott wouldnt make an impact in League 1? If you are, I think you are wrong.
  5. SO what are you proposing? We hold out for another 3 or 4 years until he blossoms in to a £25m player? I wish I shared your optimism but in the real world the lad will be gone the first opportunity he gets which is why re-couping £10m on such a player would undoubtedly be "incredible business". The lad will be gone the first opportunity he gets, without a doubt.
  6. I asked if you would rather have AOC now or the player Walcott was at the time he left us. To be honest I am still amazed you would go for AOC. He's decent but Walcott absolutely dominated games at a higher level. As hypo said, AOC isnt even our best player and we are in League One.
  7. I dont think anyone would argue about that! He'd be a great partner for RL but I'd imagine there will be sides in the Championship more than willing to take a punt on him too. That said, I'd be quite happy if we sold AOC for £10m, £5m up front and used £2m of the up front money to bring Mackail Smith in. Get on the blower to Nige and let him know this is whats happening.
  8. So you'd both rather have AOC in your side than the Theo Walcott that left us for Arsenal back in 2006?
  9. Kolo's been smashing out the bugle
  10. I honestly would take guaranteed promotion via the play-offs over winning the league. Just the drama of it all and the days out on the sauce for the semi away and the final up in Manchester. Not sure my nerves could handle participating in it but if we were guaranteed the win, I'd be all over it.
  11. Totally agree with a lot of the comments on this thread. He is a decent player with promise but putting him in the same bracket as a Gareth Bale or Theo Walcott is ridiculous. Bale and Walcott influenced games in the Championship week in, week out. Chamberlain doesnt yet have that ability and I doubt he will be here by the time he matures in to a player than can. I swear half the money put on his estimated value is due to the fact he is coming from the famed Southampton academy which can only bode well for us in the future. £10m for him would be incredible business.
  12. Great news. Thanks for being pro-active. Good to hear you shared our frustrations. Fingers crossed it solves all the problems.
  13. Dan Seabourne was wearing a flat cap if it helps. Forgot to say Hoskins was looking very sharp. Quite small in build but looks very handy.
  14. Dont I feel silly. My nephew plays for the Under 12's not the Under 13's. Sorry Georgie... I'm sure your judgement on those lads in the 13's is sound!
  15. No player called Olly in the 13's and out of the whole XI the left back and the striker (who is the smallest player in the team!) are probably the weak links although I feel a bit guilty saying that given their ages. The tallest players in the side are probably the 2 centre backs. Under 13's won 2-0 though.
  16. Yeah I saw that. Lallana has got something like ADZ L20 as well. Nice Range Rover Sport.
  17. I think generally our home support is relatively good compared to most but I did happen to think we were pretty quiet yesterday and didnt seem too prepared to engage in any banter with the Swindon fans until we had that 2 goal cushion.
  18. Was up at Staplewood today watching my nephew play for the under 13s against Reading. On the pitch behind me the squad minus the starting XI yesterday were involved in a game being overlooked by Wilkins. A few tasty challenges going in, was good to see the players training at such high intensity. The starting XI then walked over having been to the gym. Was good to see Alex OC, Lambert and Jaidi in particular paying close attention to the game my nephew was involved in. I noticed about 20 minutes later Nigel Adkins was standing a few yards away to my left watching the game as well. He only stayed for 10 minutes or so but it was good to see the manager of the club taking an interest in the kids. Paul Williams is my nephews team coach. Great to see such a model pro involved still with the club despite his relatively short association as a player with us. He's really vocal and the kids all love playing for him. My god he's a unit these days though!
  19. I think it is more to do with the fact that every club in this division including Brighton see playing Southampton either home or away as their Cup final. The way the Carlisle manager recently spoke in such awe about the club and how well they were treated when visiting SMS on a scouting mission says it all. Is it any wonder sides manage to raise themselves so often against us? Brighton are a good side, with a good manager who play good football and fair play to them. I am pretty confident in saying though that players from other sides will find it much easier to motivate themselves for a game against us that they would against little old Brighton in their sh*thole stadium. They better pray they win promotion this season because the minute they move in to their shiny stadium, all that will change.
  20. TDAJFU or Playerpedia... you could then start a franchise for all clubs... good little earner there... no need to thank me.
  21. Got to start giving Martin more of a look in.
  22. Tyson
  23. Not yet but I live in hope!
  24. They never forget. Be careful next time you start your car.
