  1. I'd start by looking at the 9 clubs which finished higher than Swansea this season. I reckon Martin's biggest asset (to our board) was that he only has a year on his contract to pay out to Swansea. Presumably Lampard turned us down before we approached Martin.
  2. Seems like we're trying to do it on the cheap like we did with our player signings last summer and with Jones and Seles. I predict similar results.
  3. It would make no difference which managers we tried after sacking Ralph. There isn't a manager in the world who could produce enough goals from our squad's forwards and midfielders to stay up this season.
  4. And so would Ralph.
  5. And you think they could get 15 goals out of Adams and Armstrong?
  6. Nope. Sacking Ralph played a big part in getting us relegated along with not getting a striker in Summer. Who exactly did you think would replace Ralph? Poch? Pep? Klopp? You're living in a grass is greener dream world my friend. Ralph was the best manager we've had in a long time and will be the best manager we've had for a long time to come. Ralph would be awsome in the Championship.
  7. If we/he/they can beat Leeds, give him the job. Not difficult but he was more inspiring and talked more sense in 2mins than Jones' whole tenure. And his suit was proper Premier League manager quality!
  8. Yep, thinking back to Hammon and Fonte and when I played. Having someone who can organise the defence, understands the game and has visibility of most of the pitch is such a bonus.
  9. I agree, he is a terrible captain. I actually cannot remember when I saw him doing anything that looked like leadership. But that tells me that nobody else wants the job and I don't hold it against him at all. If there was anybody willing to step up, he should give up the armband immediately. We've badly missed one or more leaders on the pitch for several seasons.
  10. Pretty sure that when we started to sit back and invite pressure in the 2nd half, Ralph would've made a positive change to show the team that he wanted the to play in Wolves half, not ours.
  11. A manager needs time to implement his style of play and for the players to learn how to play a new system/understand their role. Ferguson, Arteta are examples of managers that were very close to sackings before success started to come. That said, if I was in charge, I would be looking to replace him ASAP. Problem is, who are we going to replace him with? I heard that there is a guy available with Prem experience, works well with young players and isn't terrible at organising a defence. Hassunhutl or something like that? He can't turn shite strikers into goal scorers though so maybe need to look more towards the supernatural side, someone like David Copperfield or Uri Gellar?
  12. Stats from last year disagree.
  13. Same one yes, even more reason to go for him. By your logic, Lukaku would also have been useless for us since he failed to turn up at Chelsea. If we continue to steer clear of proven Premier League goal scorers, there's only one place we'll end up. In the Championship. He may have not been a super star all seaon but I had him in my fantasy team, he scored goals and assists all through the season.
  14. Emmaneul Dennis. Should've paid whatever we needed to in summer to get him ahead of Forest. We'd be comfortable midtable now.
  15. I haven't seen anything from JWP in the past to suggest he can be the attacking midfielder we need. His shooting from open play has been poor, the weakest aspect of his game. The change in formation gave us the element of surprise against Everton. Time and time again he was left in too much space just outside their box. After watching the replays, Aston Villa wont make the same mistake.
  16. His movement, assists and goals was one of the main reasons why we were better in a team which otherwise had very few goals from midfield. Being forced to replace him by Djenpo or Walcott clearly hurt the team and the number of goals we scored.
  17. He was our best goal threat in midfield by a long way before he got Covid. Hasn't been the same since.
  18. He chose Jones because he was cheap and would be a willing party to doing things on the cheap. We have a squad full of Premier League rejects. We wont be able to sell any of them while they are on Prem. wages so maybe they think the best way forward is to get relegated and hopefully some will then want to leave, allowing us to rebuild.
  19. The signings we made in Summer and the manager change at least shows that SR has a plan. We should be able to get decent money for JWP, KWP, TL, SA and will be left with a squad and manager that should be (just) above average in the Championship.
  20. He wasn't talking about a loan. Us buying Broja with 4 years left of his contract is a fantasy. It is not feasible. Feasible: adjective 1. capable of being done, effected, or accomplished: a feasible plan. 2. probable; likely: a feasible theory.
  21. Twice as likely as 0 chance is still 0 chance.
  22. Not a chance that we'll sign Broja. I wish it wasn't true but he's too good. I think he would score goals, probably lots of goals at every level in any of the top 6 clubs. We can't afford the transfer fee or the wages.
  23. I didn't go to the game today because my Dad (knee replacement required) was worried about the queues and possible jostling - we both went to the Euro final at Wembley which was a bit chaotic at the gates! What was the system like? How long did you have to queue for? Thanks
  24. I wonder if anybody who thought 8th wasn't good enough Puel should be sacked would take 8th this season?
  25. This is open and unashamed corruption.
