Long story, short. Yes. We don't have a magic money tree.

Relegation battle based on pre-season form. I fear that people will learn to appreciate Puel's ability to get results as this season goes on.
-
A bit of a shame how it turned out for him at Saints. The guy definitely has the potential to be a very good player, just needs good coaching and the confidence that a decent run in the first team will bring.

Can we finish higher than eighth in the 2017-18 season?

8th is a successful season. Europa league is a fantastic season. -

It will be easy in hindsight but I'm nailing my colours to the mast. This is a bad move.

A lot of people seem to forget that lack of strikers we had until Christmas and then we lost VVD and Fonte. Negative football? More like it's a miracle we weren't relegated. Puel's ability to get results with cards he was dealt is massively underrated.

Saints 0 Man Utd 0 - Buildup, Match and over-reactions Thread

2 and I play Saturday league football. I would like to see how many crosses Pied and Targett made that actually found a Saints player. I think if you go back and look, you see that while they might've got into decent positions, there was no end product 90% of the time. And that is what I meant by lack of quality. It was such a poor performance because of the team we were up against. They treated it almost like a training game and we still couldn't score. -

That was bad. United were just going through the motions for much of the game. Yes I know we had lots of shots but we didn't score and showed a lack of quality several times. Targett's delivery was poor, same with Pied. The defense had issues at times and to top it all off, another penalty missed. As already said, you will never get an easier game against United and we just weren't up to it. For that reason, one of the worst and most disappointing performances of the season for me. I think we could've played 2 up front comfortably, United weren't interested in going forwards for much of the game. I'm not a Puel detractor normally but he really needs to stop playing 1 up front at home. -
IF we finish 8th, I don't think any reasons for wanting Puel to go are valid. I trust the board are more sane than some of our fans and will let him progress next season.

Even though somewhat forced upon us, the club deserve credit for blooding a youngster in a position that requires experience and ability to read the game more than any other position. Jack, Puel and the coaching staff have done a good job. Not the finished article but a fantastic prospect for the future.

You sound like one of those self entitled Man U fans who phones into 606 who everybody hates. I think the best solution would be to support a different club.
-
Puel doesn't deserve to go and none of the suggestions in this thread sound like an improvement to me.

Luke Shaw's stalled development. What does it say about our academy?

Do yourself a favor and don't pay any attention to what Mourinho says. He's borderline crazy. Let the media and everyone else lap it up and get on with something useful. -
The reason is so that people go out and watch lower league football on Saturday.
-
If you can't work it out after so many games this season, there's probably not a lot anybody can do to help you.
-
Puel should be given another season assuming we stay up. I'm sick of short-termism. Let's try something different and give a guy a chance to build something.
-
Was speaking to Man U season ticket holder a couple of months ago. Apparently 10-15% of Man U season tickets are 'owned' by people over 100 years old. They have been passed down the family rather than losing good seats.
-
They are not similar. In a game of narrow margins, VVD is way out ahead: VVD - 40% more tackles per game - 24% more interceptions - 17% more clearances - 17% more blocks - 11% more mins played
-
Redmond definitely has potential but I'm not sure if he will ever be a centre-forward. I think he would be excellent playing behind a front 2 with 2 defensive midfielders as cover. That would allow him to use his pace to get into the box and worry defenders.
-
Haha, let's hope Puel learned a lot about football from Bournemouth's performance. Did you forget that we stuffed them down there with excellent passing football?
-
We've had more shots on goal than Arsenal and only 2 less than Chelsea. I'd take Aguero and Costa. As we're creating so many chances, that would probably see us into the Champions League quite comfortably.
-
We're 7th in total passes, 6th on number of touches. 6th on number of shots but 17th on goals scored. Please explain to me what is so terrible about the way we play which manager will get 25/30 goals per seaon out of Long, Rodriguez and Redmond.
