Question is, if Wotte wasnt good enough to be manager first time up e.g less suitable than JP what makes him more suitable long term now?
-
What a ledge "Ive caught the southampton bug" Good man top keeper this year certainly earning his money at the moment!
-
I think the difference is that last year we still had a proven and consistent scorer in Stern John last year. The loans of the likes of Rasiak and John whilst leaving us with untested DMG or the failures that were Robertson and Pekhart is where Lowe is getting slated.
-
Unfortunately I can't see Mr Wilde being big enough to post a response to that. When the "chariman" of our club doesnt even bother to attend a highly important AGM and leaves with the team only 1-0 down does this show a level of care that you'd expect from an executive let alone a "fan" and I use that term loosely at the moment. Heres some more questions for him if he cares to prove me wrong ... 1) What input did you have to appointing the new manager? 2) How do you justify spending x thousand a week on no less than Robertson, Smith, Gasmi, Pullis, Forecast and Pekhart yet loaning out our top scoring strikers Surely you cant be suggesting that a Rasiak or John could have achieved LESS in the same space of time as the above SIX!!!! players? 3) What efforts have been made to help JP out or in fact considered replacements now that its clear he isnt up to the job?

Just to make a point on Holmes/ BWP Dave Armstrong was saying he could see Holmes asking to be switched wings when he realised it wasnt working and was given a big thumbs down to this idea. JP seems like a decent bloke but hes suffering burleyitus, several people have told me they didnt see him in the technical area very much 2nd half is this true? If so remind anyone else of Burleys hiding vs Watford last Jan when he realised he no longer gave a fook?
-
Can anyone actually explain those subs to me? Holmes looked pretty decent to me to be replaced by that inept mug Smith and as for taking off Perry for (in my mind) the ineffective Lalllana god only knows what JP was schmoookin this afternoon :-( Going down I reckons

Cant be arsed to look through 5 pages of no doubt "stimulating" lupoli based conjecture but the sun has a "club sources" quoted as saying no meeting between us and lupoli or his agents has happened. Add this one to the list of ****e rumours then along with dos santos? lol

players not as fit as bournemouth players?
Stu Man Do replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Extra fitness doesnt seem to have done them much help in the winning games stakes ;-) -
Get the **** in there! 1-0 DMG!!
-
Seems a bit silly to have dropped Skacel completely our bench looks a little inadequate to me but only time will tell. I'd prefer to see Skacel on the left wing and Holmes on the right with BWP up top instead of Mcgoldrick. Euell also might be a decent bet up top with saga as he could hold the ball up a little better and with the crosses from Holmes and Skacel ... who knows, might even have scored a couple. What we would do for a Rasiak knocking in those crosses!
-
Cant be any worse than mcgoldrick really can he! Personally id go for Davis James Perry New Dutch dude Skacel BWP Euell Surman Holmes Lallana Saganowski Subs: Bart Moleyneux White Smith Gasmi

Which ten players are out of contract at end of season?
Stu Man Do replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
Nice to see our vaunted young "stars" of the future have been tied down to long term deals :-p -
No one ... how about we all put in a couple of quid at the next home game should pay off his contract. After all he is the cheap option right!

Only mentions he "might not" play Ronaldo but as already known tevez, ferdinand and evra definately not playing. I wouldnt be suprised to see utd with a mix of 1st teamers and youngsters who have already been around the 1st team like silva or wellbeck, with an extra strong bench on the off chance DMG manages to blag us a goal in off his arse! Id go for; Davis James Lancashire Perry Molyneux Holmes Surman Spiderman Skacel DMG BWP

Just to hijack this thread ... Anyone know which pubs, if any, are showing the game in the town centre? Thanks :-D
-
Hate to be a pedant ... but the Leicester cup game was a 3-2 win. They came back from 2-0 down. Ive no idea how well or badly smith played though!
-
Surely it would have been a percentage of any further profit chelsea made on bridgey? So lets say 10% on 5 million, even so yes a useful amount of money but seeing as we got million up front for him + Le saux's wages subsidised I imagine we've sort of had our moneys worth out of them. Does anyone know if Chelsea funded any of Cork's wages?
-
I noticed Duffy (Right back) at Portsmouth is supposedly off on a free, had lots of championship experience with various loans and played at Swansea before that. Can't comment on how good he is anyone else got any idea?
-
If by miracle we do stay up, how will we compete next year?
Stu Man Do replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Wanting administration? Yep that seems like a reasonable thing to say, nothing would stop Lowe buying back in on the cheap ala Ken Bates at Leeds and then we're back to square one except on minus points and in a lower division. I appreciate your right to an opinion Stanley but at least have a considered one! Lets face it can you see saints doing a leeds and knocking off those 15 points in quick time or doing a bournemouth and taking till xmas leading to another inevitable relegation? -
Fortunately were not on Sky heart says we could up it and shock everyone with a draw head says anything that doesnt start Southampton nil will be a good result! Lets hope they treat us in a complacent manner and we have spiderman back!
-
Don't think he has the fans either any longer which IMO is probably worse and should lead to him getting the boot ... it wont though, but would be nice to think that if you do a crap job for OUR team you shouldn't be kept on! The team for today was a complete joke and if that clown comes on after sundays defeat and bleats about too many games in a few days he should be laughed off the air. I thought we'd seen the last of stupid excuses and dumb team selections when we brought in Pearson, cracking job on his non renewal Mr Lowe! I see something like 8 of our players today have less than 10 games at League standard, can't say I was suprised to see us lose, I dont expect us to steam roll anyone really but some heart, effort and passion would be nice.
-
Cant say I agree on Thompson seems abit of a waste of a team place but frankly at the moment who isnt?!
-
Feckin hell ... there are people in the Chapel end ... it all went wrong once they stopped going! :-( happy memory there though!
-
Some people on here do talk some crap ... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/attendance?league=ENG.2&year=2008&&cc=5739 Average attendance for us is 16,000 odd overall for the league its 17,000 and a bit.

Personally I think AL is a bit overated by many on here ... 2 million plus? have a word he hasnt even performed as well as Drew this season. Drifts in from his wide position, loses the ball lots and seems to faff around to a great extent. I see it this way KD - 1 million tops hes not going to be going for much more than we brought him certainly AS - 2.5 million - 3 million saying that if Ledley is supposedly worth 6 million drew isnt far short of him and IS scoring goals this season (5 so far) AL- I think we'd be lucky to take anything near 2 million for him as he is no doubt seen as a gamble by any top flight side e.g. not ready yet with no guarentee he would push on.
