  1. I'm not 100% certain but I believe the land is too close to the gas containers to EVER be turned into flats. I think the land usage could only be turned to industrial in which case it would probably be worth more than the current 8 million pound bid.
  2. I'm sure he won manager of the season or young manager the first season he was with us, kept us up and relatively safe when we'd always struggled before and had a decent transfer record. Hardly crap. I would however agree towards the end we were on a bad downturn in form, who's to say he wouldnt have turned it around? Impossible to say but at the end of the day we ended up with a decent manager in Hoddle followed by several really "crap" managers in Wigley and Gray.
  3. Aside from the fact your clearly looking for an argument both of the managers of these teams had long term spells in British teams where guess what ... a "British" style of football is played. I bet there isn't a person on this board who hasnt heard a commentator during the champions league describe the "italian" style as defensive or the "dutch" style (yeah right!!!!) as attacking. Personally I'd class the british style as fast paced high pressing football. Anyway back to the game ... as someone else said followed the pattern of many games, us doing well without any goal scorers the opposition working us out and then beating us in the 2nd half :-(
  4. No thanks get rid start again (if we actually have a club!!) and see about stability from that point onwards. Even in a dead rubber "pride" game his subtitutions knackered the team and as someone said above hes hardly set the world alight with arguably players of better ability than the players we'll have here next year. See ya Mark, thanks for a whole lot of nothing.
  5. Lol not if they play as they did this afternoon, a performance right out of the southampton fc book of defending "comfortable" leads!
  6. QPR (last home game under Lowe) 18,691 Charlton (first game in admin) 27,228 Crystal Palace (H) 23,220 Burnley (H)23,972 Whatever way you want to look at it between 5-9000 people came back to games once Lowe was gone, although obviously some of them were more in a want to help the club out sorta way.
  7. Really? That team would get mullered in League 1. We've done with the youth experiment lets hope we can move on from it! Controversial perhaps but after his last couple of performances BWP should be offered an extra year on somewhat reduced wages if he could be convinced to stay. He has pace and IMO played a blinder on saturday just needs to work on his fitness and finishing!
  8. Was it just me or did the barsteward look a little TOO happy he'd managed to get us with his 10 pt deduction when he was speaking on SSN earlier?
  9. Didn't happen when we capitulated at Hull or Sheff Weds last year so I wouldn't hold your breath :-p Some sort of donation from the players to the SOS appeal would be better IMO as well.
  10. What is this stupid obsession some on here have with Holloway? The blokes bloody useless aside from his half decent Plymouth days, with a team built by you guessed ... Sturrock! Did an excellent job with Leicester and should be consigned to sky punditry for good not here thanks. As for Ince or Boothroyd? At the moment we couldnt even poach Eddie Howe from Bournemouth!
  11. Most important is the Norwich tomorrow which could still keep us within 3 points of 2 teams albeit one with a game in hand and one with far superior goal difference granted its a long shot, I think Forest are ok now 5 points clear of us with 2 to play. Barnsley still have a ****ty run in as well. Now for some realism ... were down. Didnt even sound like we were interested today, a telling quote on Radio Hampshire "Smith doesnt even look up for this game today since he came on" particularily ****ed me off!
  12. Blackpool away? Seemed an unusual thing for the captain to say in terms of AS's morale might have been better to say something along the lines of better for a right footer :-p Either way should have been JP taking it! As for the Skacel interview ... i didnt realise he could go on a free at the end of the season I thought he signed for 4 years didnt he? :-p Also says he took a pay cut at the start of the season so good on him there at least.
  13. 606 were suggesting 26k had been sold ... yes yes i know its 606! Should have put the barrometer on the OS like the last home game, just gives the impression that this game is LESS important than the charlton one were in reality its now far far bigger in every respect!
  14. You know on friday I couldnt imagine being bothered to attend again this season our boys had let us down so badly AGAIN that what would be the point, by Sunday I was considering it and today I've just brought my tickets going to football IS still exciting despite the fact in my heart I know I'll probably be let down again!!! As Adrian Chiles once said its the bloody hope that kills you! If the team cant raise their game today and we dont see them up for it in the first 10-15 mins you just know we're in for a long afternoon! Still heres hoping COYR's!
  15. Serious question, does anyone know if ANY of Hoddles "Lost boys" actually been taken on by a team yet? Also didnt our accademy beat them anyway? :-s
  16. Was doing pretty well for Scunny this season by all accounts!
  17. Stu Man Do

    Sam Vokes

Of course that would fly rather well if we hadnt then signed Morgan and our selection of ****e loan signings!
  18. Alps, what do you personally get more benefit out of? The football team or the paintings? What do the majority of rate payers get to see more of? Self serving certainly but in our situation any solutions worth considering if we get to keep a club next season.
  19. Just so you can quantify John ... why exactly was it unrealistic to have tried to move onto the next level. Now the next level for us wouldnt have been anything as stupid as the champions league but we clearly had the chance to be a solid top ten side and potentially challenging for a uefa cup spot, with a few extra decent squad additions. We had good crowds and were doing well in the league as well. As for that article, complete ******** imo as others have said ive supported saints my entire life ive never "demanded" more than us to stay in the league we're in and to occassionally have a good go at the big boys. As for merging with Pompey only a real journalistic moron could come up with something like that its almost as clever as suggesting celtic merge with Rangers or boro merging with sunderland and the toon.
  20. You'd have thought with his undoubted business acumen e.g. being worth 100 million that he'd have known better than to blow a quarter mill on a company that was clearly just about to go into admin! Lets hope he wants to spend 50 million on us and help us take league 1 by storm!!!
  21. Sorry mate if you're happy with that level of effort no wonder we're on the way to league 1 apart from the last 15 minutes the effort of our lot was dire.
  22. I would say about 50 people around me walked out at 3-1 with what? 20 odd minutes left and again more still with 10 mins left when it was back to 3-2 madness! As for the games itself we failed in the midfield department TOTALLY. Nothing going forward and when we inevitably lost the ball no one bothered to track back and get in a tackle, thats GET IN A TACKLE not get goalside and assume thats enough! Their 2nd and 3rd goals were both top finishes but couldnt help but feel we had ample chances both times to get the ball away had we gone in 100% in the tackles. Both goals we had nearly the whole defence in the box when the ball came in shocking!! As for scores; Kelv 8 - Positioning maybe slightly off for the 2nd goal but excellent today as usual this season excellent saves and a penalty save that gave us all hope Thompson - 7 Thought he got forward well and defensive work seemed to be fairly decent Saejis - 6 got caught going forward a few times which left us short at the back but NO midfield covering left him open Perry - 7 Good work in covering the other defenders continually built the much bigger kandol in the air Skacel - 5 Dived in too often giving them chances didnt get forward much Wotton - 2 seriously whats the point of this fella? Lallana - 2 Drifted inside leaving Thompson alone with the marrauding Charlton Left back and left winger , not sure i saw him doing anything going forward deservedly taken off, if you cant hold a position please dont bother turning up on tuesday Surman - 4 Ok first half but lack of tackling and getting stuck in = him being taken off at a time we needed all our experienced players on the pitch dragging us through! DMG - 5 Ok first half didnt seem to be doing much 2nd half though raised his game abit once at 3-2 However EXCELLENTfinish today Saga - 6 Some good play holding up the ball but really a lack of any link to the midfield didnt help him out Euell - 6 Same as Saga not good support from midfield left him battling 2 or 3 defenders on his own Subs BWP - 8 looked interested actually everywhere top finish as well Smith - 5 lot of the ball didnt do much with it though can anyone in the chapel corner tell me if that tackle on him near the end should have been a penalty?!!? Liptak - Asub to protect the GD near the end? What hurts the most about today is that it took until the last 8 or so minutes to really see any passion and desire to win or at least get back in the game, big let down for all the returning fans cant see that many being at the next home match. :-(
  23. Just over 22k sold as of about 10 mins ago. All corners are now open for sale.
  24. Not doubting what you're saying but is there anywhere you know of where this was quoted? I remember Crouch offering 2million if the other two directors matched it but thats about it!
