I'm in Redditch but with a young family and a non football loving fiancée it's hard to get down very often but when I do, I'll let you know. I tend to go to Villa home & away as step daughter and work colleagues are villa fans, Norwich home and away as my mate supports them and then a few others. Couple of us saints fans watch televised games in my local in redditch.

Ignore 'the haters' Glasgow this is a forum where people can come & post their thoughts whether they are ITK or not that's the idea of forums. For every 1 person that slags you off there are a dozen like me who log on numerous times a day to hear what people have to say. It is up to us to decide whether we should believe or not what each person is saying. I live in the West Midlands and hear more about what's happening at villa then I do about saints and I miss the talk in the pubs & at work so need forums like this and posters like you.

Unfortunately it looks like Coventry will be ground sharing with Northampton Town for the next 3 years. A 70 mile round trip for home games!! As you can imagine CCFC fans are distraught/angry/upset/gutted you name it. It seems ever since SISU got involved with them it's been one slippery slope

FWIW I work with a lot of Villa fans and this time last year Bent was to them what Lambert is to us, you wouldn't have found many Villa fans with a bad word about him the only reason they want rid is to get him off the wage bill the same as they have had to or are trying with Given, Dunne, Ireland etc the Villa philosophy is now buy young with cheap wages the problem is for every Benteke there are 2 or 3 De Ridder's

With all the hype regarding Wanyama, Nainggolan & Osvaldo, I wouldnt be suprised if Banega & Stoch were suddenly unveiled. FWIW I think Wanyama will sign but it could drag a bit like the Ramirez situation last year. I still think a striker should be a priority I am a fan of both Lambert & J-Rod but if we are serious about a european place we need another proven goalscorer it is what let us down a little in our run in last year.

Banega would be my choice but think we will get Wanyama

I would be surprised if we sign Astori as well if in fact the claims of Forren's agent that he was signed for next season are true, although if he was that good surely he would have had some game time at the end of last season. With Fonte & Jos as well as Yoshida I think we'd have to sell one if not both Fonte & Jos to allow space for Astori. I would be delighted if we went into next season with choices at CB being Lovren, Astori, Yoshida & Forren a vast improvement on the start of last season

I work with a lot of Villa fans and they have resigned themselves to the fact that their transfer market is the £2m -£4m bracket and I don't think we're going to be shopping there (albeit maybe 1 or 2) and although they have signed a few players early doors I wouldn't say they haven't been overwhelmed by any of their signings. In fact I laughed today when one of them (who knows saints players well as he has the desk next to mine) turned around and said Tonev = De Ridder, Helenius = Mayuka, Okore = Forren & Bacuna = Guly

Good post 'saints_is_the_south' the only position I would add too is another striker although I love both Rickie & JRod but to get to the next level we need another option

Man City last ever game at Maine Road just before the cup final think we won 1-0 sat in a temporary stand but rumours went around the Man City fans that Oasis were doing a gig at the end of the game and as we came out of the ground people were trying to get in to see the gig but were only allowed in with a match ticket so we sold them our ticket stubs turned out it was just a tribute act!! Paid for the pub dinner on the way home tho

My player of the season so far, always thought he was more suited to the premier league than the lower divisions.

As a former local league ref in my younger days I am of the opinion that it is down to the ref how much help he asks his assistants/linesman for however it is standard at lower leagues for the refs to tell the linesman before the game that they just want help with offside, throw in's and corners. This is what I certainly always told my linesman and I always found it hard consulting the linesman due to their biased nature. I actually was linesman for my mates team the other month where I gave a goal offside due to interference the player who was offside stood in front of the keeper obstructing him from claiming the cross and a player came from an onside position to score. The ref came over and asked why I'd given it offside I explained and he said ........ I'm only including offsides for players who touch the ball and he gave the goal, I informed him he couldn't just change the rules, too which he replied I can and I have.
