  1. I'll stick to my theme so here we go again, having not learned the obvious lesson of Sunday of bringing Targett back too soon we do the same stupid trick again by bringing Long back in when not fully recovered. For heaven's sake don't lets panic after last night's defeat and rush Cedric or Ryan back for Sunday or Thursday. What we do against City is anybody's guess but drafting in half fit players is not the solution.
  2. This thread was meant to be discussing the level of away support at SMS not how many songs we should sing. One big factor must be cost and another people losing interest in the Premier League. It may have passed by the notice of many but Sky's Football subscriptions are down 19% this season compare with last and that is astonishing and of hue concern to Sky and BT who have just committed to about £5bn over the next three seasons. If fans really have stopped buying into the PL hype, then maybe the long anticipated bursting of the bubble is actually coming about. So, is the drop in Sky subscriptions and the dwindling numbers of away fans at matches signs that the game is up for the PL or just coincidence. I was surprised at the lack of support for the Clarets as they fought hard to get back to the PL first time, some of their players must be thinking was it worth it - apart from the dosh in their pocket of course. I don't think our away support can be criticised in any way at all, taking 7,500 to Milan on a Thursday night is simply staggering, many Championship clubs play to smaller house than that in their regular home league games. If the average cost is around £500 per head that's a turnover of £3.75m, if we'd all clubbed together like that we could buy the club a half decent player!
  3. Sure but junior staff are always under pressure to say the right things that the boss wants to hear! We've all been there have we not?
  4. So a bore-draw between two useless sides with clueless managers was rated more worthy of top of the bill than lucky Saints who cheated their way to victory - MotD! Usual BBC impartiality. "Our main rivals for the title all have easy games next weekend" - who said that? Effing Mourinho, arrogant thick tw*t.
  5. Did you forget your pills today?
  6. Puel made a mistake today by risking Targett when all the rumours suggested he was still recovering from injury... and it didn't work out and we are probably in an even worse place now. Thankfully he didn't risk Shane Long who has at least a few more days to recover. After today's episode Puel will surely have realised that Bertrand should not be rushed back. It is likely Ryan came back too soon from his pre-season injury and look what happened to him after that, if he comes in again too soon and has another setback like Matt we risk losing him for most of the season. Maya Yoshida ha stop play her on Thursday and probably next weekend as well.
  7. "Saints only do well against poor teams".... they all said the same last year and the year before. Pr***s, they are only poor because we make them look poor. Today we would have beaten anybody in the league.
  8. A superb all round performance, invidious to single anybody out for special praise everyone fired on all cylinders. Play like this every time and nobody will beat us, can we do a Leicester ;-) Ok we can quibble about the shots to goals conversion ratio of 10% as being in need of improvement but as the man said, as long as we score one more than the opposition who's complaining. I've always liked McQueen in the junior teams now he has his chance in the PL and he took it well today, growing in confidence as he had more of the ball from his team mates. He looked odds on to score when brought down. Bummer that Targett wasn't ready and paid the price, just glad that Shane Long was not risked as well.
  9. Anybody found one? Any links that are working?
  10. How come then he assisted Ronaldo with one of his goals the other night?
  11. You might well think that but I'll be rather more chuffed if we win well against Burnley and have 12 pts and are up to 8th on Sunday evening. Winning in the San Siro under the present circumstances means nothing. Hollow victory.
  12. I was looking out for some reviews on here so thank you for this. Your comments should be taken in the spirit in which they are meant as constructive feedback to the authors and as such properly taken on board can only improve the product. I have no idea what the vision of the author is for this fanzine but it will be a challenge to come up with controversial or interesting new stuff with so much club information tightly controlled by the club and selectively drip fed to us through the OS. They'll need a couple of good spies with access beyond the screens to really make this work for most fans. The fans views are adequately served by several fan websites and no doubt the club is plugged into those already. Holbury Saint, you had expectations - what did you expect? The problem for most of us is that we think it sounds like a good idea but if pressed on what we might expect from the publication might not be able to come up with very much; not sure where the gaps are?
  13. Wonder if he's match fit, we might need a good right back over the next few weeks.
  14. I am dreading the January transfer window, Fonte, VVD, Romeu & Tadic all receiving critical acclaim in the press. Far too good for a small provincial club where everyone chews straw and wear baggy trousers with frayed hems and holes in the knees
  15. Anybody reading anything into his sudden prominence on the OS? What news is coming next?
  16. You cannot be right otherwise Fraser would have been in goal. No, Southgate watched Ryan at Leicester last week in commanding form and made him first pick on merit. Ryan is not fully match fit from his early season injury yet and the lush Wembley turf found him out.
  17. Wishful thinking sadly, it looked nasty and is probably the last we'll see of him for a few weeks. The way he pulled up was not good and the look on his face told you all you needed to know. Bugger me that's four full backs crocked and the season's only just getting under way. So we are down to any two from Martina and McQueen! Imagine them playing three games a week with two long trips away as well. ... and what a bore-fest that was. At least England make Saints look impressive.
  18. You are not allowed to make things up on here so who told you that? Redmond was on our radar for ages but Norwich wouldn't let him go or wanted more I know not which but we were sniffing around him long before Juanmi had become an issue for fans let alone the club.
  19. You cynical old fool! Truth is we're getting nothing at all from the club OS about progress on recovery from injuries, players get injured a curtain comes down and that's that. Not exactly transparent as per the mission statement of Herr Kreugar. There is absolutely no need for secrecy as other teams probably don't give a toss who they are playing against, the modern view in this age of Squads and Rotation is it's XI v XI and only the performance of the 'collective' matters. Obviously there is also a gagging order on players as otherwise they'd keep us posted on their twitter feeds. In fact I'll ask them in a minute and see if our enquiry is ignored.
  20. ... and whilst this debate spirals ever downwards, we are not even out of Europe until at least 2019 so Brexit hasn't even started and the full impact of Brexit cannot possibly be known for at least another 5 or 6 years. Right now the short-term impacts look pretty grim to me with the Euro at 1.13 and dollar at 1.27
  21. It was totally misleading as it did not acknowledge that a large proportion of that money came back to the UK in the form of grants and subsidies so on that basis alone it was a Lie. The net flow of cash out was very much lower and that was the price of being a member of the club. As far as I know you do not get free membership of a golf club for very obvious reasons. Typically those who voted 'out' want everything for nothing, little englanders used to a nanny welfare state where you don't have to work if you can't be Rrsed.
  22. Has the You Tube channel been abandoned since the launch of the new OS website? They didn't show the U23's the other night anywhere either and now they seem to be ignoring tonight's game. They won't let us into Staplewood to watch the U23's - the official excuse given is that HSE won't allow it because of "building works going on" - but I didn't see any of the club's people with tin hats on. So if they are no longer going to show the junior matches, how are we suppose to get excited about these kids.
  23. ...and all the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put Humpty together again. There is also a rumour on Twitter this morning that Ryan's tattoos have started to smudge and may need urgent remedial work that could prevent him travelling as well......
  24. You are kidding, right? Do you seriously think Premier League defenders will just stand there like statues and admire his skills as he jinks his way through? Yeah, right! Sadly, you are building up expectations that cannot be realised.
  25. Context dear boy, context!
