Yes, it's one part of many. The new owner can't review the ex employee list because of sentiment. The fact is someone else is doing this job now. On the other hand, how about getting Rofey back? He maybe ideal for this league.
-
Time to move on. You can't run a club or business based on sentiment. I am sure he can get a discount on a ST.
-
What prejudice FFS? I want the right person for the job. Nationality doesn't come into the picture. It just so happens that outside of the premiership most successful managers are British and either played or coached in various divisions for several years. The ability to motivate and prepare a team in this division is perhaps better suited to a Brit, whereas the Premiership's more technical requirements appear to work well for non-British managers.

Looking back at this thread made me realise how fecking gullible some posters are and how some still don't understand the club almost became extinct. We can only hope for a period of stability and sustainability, nothing's guaranteed.

Fry - Takeover is almost complete. Funds being transferred.

Fair play to you. I do think that the poor finances at the end of the season contributed to relegation as we coud not afford a loan player(s). However, if the Dutch clowns had not been appointed I doubt we would have been in the situation. Everything is linked!
-
Your reward is administration. Why should those that continued to financially support the club not be appreciated? The club should come first, not boardroom politics - fans and shareholders included. Personally I would not give a discount to anyone providing the cost is close to other similar clubs. If you have had a ST for five years I doubt a discount will influence your next purchase.
-
You have missed the point regarding the decision to place him on administrative leave. It had nothing to do with the 'rock solid case' of the police or any other outside factors. Far from abandoning him, Dave was given time off with full pay and benefits to pursue his defence. The club felt he could not fully concentrate on both his trial and the management of Saints, at the time looking like relegation candidates. Keep in mind the trial was in Liverpool, 4 hours from Southampton. I've no doubt that as time went by, RL felt Hoddle would be more successful than Jones and a deal was reached for him to be made permanent. After his trial Jones sued SFC for wrongful dismissal but lost his case. Sometimes the club should be shown a bit more respect for handing issues in the right way. Many fans (me included) were glad to have a change of manager at the time, albeit under different circumstances. I wish him well at Cardiff.

If this story is true and TL really did make the commment to the Echo “the last 24 hours have been busy, but probably not as busy as the next 24 hours", then my opinion of him and the Pinnacle bid has reduced further. He really needs to keep his gob shut and just finish the job. Anything else simply confirms he is on a major ego trip and no more credible than Jackson. Can someone remind me of TL's business success?

I don't think SFC could have done anything other than what they did, despite Dave not liking it. What I find really worrying is the fact he spent 400 hundred grand on legal costs. If he did not have the money would things have been different? A very decent man that was shafted by the worst type of people.

So true.

Despite some great wins, players, losses, etc... one of the stand out games for me was the 3-3 against Middlesbrough in '98. A pretty lively game with tackles everwhere but no goals in the first half. Bring on the second half and we saw 6 goals and 2 sendings off! Brilliant free kick from Gazza, good goal from Beatts and a great OG from Our Claus!! Did Super Ken score? Plus 2 sendings off from 'borough. Pretty good teams on both sides. Great afternoon at The Dell!!! Back to the Osbourne for plenty of sherbs. Good days
-
I remember that game, apparently we were offered Bridges before he went to Leeds but decided not to sign him as he had a bad attitude.
-
Agreed. Everyone knew the rules. I'm not anti or pro Rupert but do think he and the lawyers were negligent in believing they could make the FA view SLH totally separate to SFC.
-
I would prefer HSBC....
-
Is does absolutely f all to the credibility of Pinnacle. What a bad joke.

Why do potential owners feel the need......

You are so right. The Echo thinks they are a big paper yet don't have any substance. Full of lazy apprentices reporting to an ego maniac Brummy tosser editor. I am sick of the "Daily Echo backed" campaigns and "Daily Echo exclusive" bull**** Any decent prospective buyer with significant wealth and integrity would never issue statements to the papers or websites until a deal had been done. If Pinnacle do succeed don't hold your breath until it goes tits up again. -
not wanting to further this debate but.. I would not expect a schoolboy error such as not proof reading a press release from anyone dealing in several million pounds. Anyay, off to play golf and hope that there is good news upon my return this afternoon. PEACE
-
who knows? Either way, the letter is signed TL. Maybe I am being a bit pedantic.
-
Great points. Funny, I also picked up the 'I' in his statements but for a different reason. Most people I know, speaking as part of a team or for an owner would always say 'we' in any statement or discussion. The 'I' tends to smell of too much ego.

History has shown that those without the money to buy this club do read this site! -

Cheltenham didn't do too well last season and nothing looks like changing this season. The obvious changes to me in the last 24 hrs; Club still not sold despite Pinnacle PR Now it's a consortium not an individual despite Pinnacle PR TL seen on TV laughing and shaking Wotte's hand yet the next day the international property guru Mr Falkia says he can't wait to get a new manager. Plenty more changes but can't be bothered. This is not the way to take over a business. No integrity = No trust -
Good point. There is a local property development company called Pinnacle that may be interested. Not sure about their ability to raise cash...
-
Understood, but to me this is a flawed strategy. Nothing was gained as we are now in the same situation financially and much closer to the start of the season. A new buyer will know this and be in a better position to get a lower bid accepted.
