I thought we were something like 40m up on transfers last summer. We may not be able to throw money at problem but we ought to be able to fund another striker, Koeman has alluded to the need himself, but what does he know.

You seem to have a bit of a problem with Shane Long. Made 2nd goal yesterday (the winner) and with one exception his defensive work was superb (did lose his man when Guffron? had his chance late on. His work rate and his all round play is superb and as good as anyone in the team.

The ref could have overruled as well, he was probably closer to it than the lino. It really was a shocking mistake, fortunately for Spuds it made no difference to the result, otherwise there would have been hell to pay.

I can think of several appropriate answers to that question.

The 6 are Vic, Morgan, Toby, Yoshida, Mane and Mayuka, but should also list JRod and even Gallagher, so thats 8 already (admittedly you could argue Gallagher is not a "senior"), so if we lose Tadic and Bertrand that's 10 players out altogether, and clearly another couple (Cork and Davis) who are not 100%. We really have to learn for next season, this is the second year running when we have tried to work with a ridiculously small squad, been brilliant when our best eleven or so are available. We are 3rd at the moent if we can get through today without losing this would be a terrific achievement.

Kicking directly into touch (at least twice) is not excellent. Usually one of his better attributes.

I'm sure we have too but it will have been a good many years since we played there in red and white stripes, there would not have been an issue with last year's Arsenal clone kit or the previous years Liverpool clone kit (or the sash for that matter).

Total dross. Thanks God for Shane Long and his one moment of magic. Ipswich were dire (with the exception of Tyrone) and we were less dire than they were. How we managed to let Mings go because he was too small is a mystery, we really should be trying very hard to get him back, he is class.

I'm sure one of the "I told you so" brigade on here will have done this for certain. The ones that told us all along that all would be well, and like to keep resurrecting the posts of those who said otherwise just to prove how all-seeing they were.

mea culpa. Clicking on link and not engaging brain, mistakenly thinking I was on the OS, instead it was just Armstrong's preview. I know its blindingly obvious the difference, put it down to old age and decripitude. And yes he did originally have 12 players, including Toby. To be fair he was right about Steve Davis (though he is on the bench) but was a bit out with the rest of the team.

Nelson would have given his right arm to get that gig.
