  1. How many caps has Dyer got? Apparently coming from Trowbridge qualifies him for Jamaica :-) He must also soon qualify for Wales by residence, as it seems he is not even in the reckoning for England. Just shows what happens when you play for an unfashionable club. Think Ox will prove to be a lot better than either of the other, remember he is 6 years younger than Dyer and Walcott.
  2. Of course, comes into the head easily, surprised you didn't consider Eva Peron first. LOL.
  3. and General Galtieri, how does he come into it?
  4. Nice post showing support of one of our players - demented granny that stinks of week, pre-pubescent lightweight player. You don't like insults but you sure as hell know how to insult players. Love to know how General Galtieri comes into this. Aparicio Mendez may have made more sense. By the way, players don't actually get a choice about whether they go or not when selected for their national teams, well at least not unless you played for Fergie in which case an excuse would be found if needed. I agree we have not seen the best of Gaston yet, but I know that we have seen some glimpses, and there is a buzz around the ground when he comes on because those who go to games know that there is the chance of something special happening when he plays. But you wouldn't know about that would you.
  5. Its not A4, about same width but a bit shorter than A4. I really don't like it, far too big, doesn't fit in pockets, will be ruined when it rains and gets wet. I suspect it is cheaper to print due to the smaller number of pages than before.
  6. I think the child could play for England regardless of whether it is a boy or a girl. General point on the thread, there seem to be some on here who do not understand basic matters of biology in terms of time since conception. I doubt this was the result of anything that happened yesterday :-)
  7. So will this be number 4 or number 7?
  8. Unless we have another deal lined up we could be one of the few, maybe the only PL team that does not have a credit card agreement. Other clubs' cards had much more attractive offers than ours. Maybe we are moving to Creation Cards, or perhaps Nicola has lined up a deal with a third provider. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cardsloans/article-2380896/Football-credit-cards-Do-beat-competition-score-goal.html
  9. Anyone else have the old Southampton FC Credit Card (MBNA)? Letter received today to say it will be discontinued when the card expires. No great problem to me, only advantage it had was 10% discount in Saints shop, but with 10% discount for season ticket holders it became valueless in that regard for me this season. Still a bit disappointing, was always nice to have a card displaying the team you support. I wonder if this means some other bank will provide similar scheme in the future or possibly a conflict with a future sponsor.
  10. The Wigan game last season probably had a higher attendance than would have been expected because (a) it was our first home game back in the PL and (b) more crucially gave priority for ManU tickets. If we had played Wigan in say November gate would probably have been a couple of thousand down. In general though attendances across the board are down on last year. Think Saints sales are holding up well in the circumstances.
  11. Sounds like Gaston, Chung , JWP and Guly are getting plenty of chances, just need to put another one or two away in the 2nd half. [sorry to interrupt the squabbling with news about the match]
  12. Must be a bit like Torres turning out at the County Ground, 50m to score against Swindon.
  13. We might as well play Lee, looked OK in yesterday's U21 game (clearly injury was not why he didn't travel yesterday, even though he was taken off injured during the week). Maybe Barnard could get a run out as well. Still would be tempted to have some of the big names on the bench, maybe Ossie.
  14. I guess you weren't around in 1973 then
  15. I know everyone is raving about Lovren yesterday, and fair play he did score the winning goal, and is a great buy, but I thought Fonte was better yesterday, certainly for what he is paid to do, i.e. defend. Lovren was fortunate that a penalty was not given against him, even though it probably was a correct decision, and Fonte's headed clearance off the line late on was superb. Certainly seems to have matured this season alongside Lovren and with the coaching of MP. Comments based on the extended Sky highlights.
  16. Brilliant result. We never used to be good at holding on to leads. Just for a few minutes we were 4th and in a CL place, maybe thats what Artur meant when he thought we could challenge for CL this season:D If only Wet Sham had equalised against Everton. Well done to the lads, saving MP from the sack.
  17. Ah, glad to see that Baird has found a decent club, I missed that elsewhere. Are Reading becoming our new reserve team?
  18. Reached by UEFA, hardly surprising given the vested interests of the UEFA major leagues. FIFA organise the World Cup, not UEFA.
  19. No one has an obsession with you, only in your tiny little mind could anyone be obsessed with a pathetic WUM. You are just a sad little troll who does not know the meaning of common decency and continue to post offensive material without understanding even how it is offensive. The pity is that the Mods continue to completely disregard the board rules that you break many times per day and they are the ones who in the end will have no forum to moderate.
  20. He knows exactly how offensive it is, and takes great delight in offending as many people as he can.On a good forum moderators ban trolls and those who are offensive continually but here Turkish gets away with it and his infantile behaviour is encouraged to develop as a result. As a result due to this and a couple of others most of the good posters have either left or are no longer full members and rarely post.
  21. Just a thought but maybe that was because (a) he was injured (jet ski accident) and then (b) he went out on loan to try to regain match fitness. Difficult for MP to have selected him as such, though it is feasible that he could have stopped the loan, possible but unlikely. Adkins clearly rated him prior to his first injury. It looks therefore like the managers didn't agree with you.
  22. Not so much passes but his free kicks and corners. Gary Neville was waxing lyrical, about the only quality in the game apart from JJ.
  23. He misplaced rather a lot of simple passes and often put us under unnecessary pressure. I really like VW but today he was awful. I thought MP should have hauled him off after his yellow. Had a couple of good attempts in the 2nd half, but was woeful first half at the job he is supposed to do.
  24. To say much else really just smacks of a lack of ambition. VW stated goal this season is to do better than last. Seems perfectly reasonable. After that who knows, but if we enter a competition with an ambition that says we should aim to finish 5th or lower what sort of lily-livered outlook is that? It may seem implausible but aiming for 4th place (or 3rd if you think like me that Champions League actually means not having to go through qualifying) is surely not being over ambitious. I know when Ted or Lawrie were in charge the ambition was to win the sodding league, not aim for 5th place. Times have changed but if you don't think there will ever come a time when we could aim to finish 3rd or 4th then why waste time supporting the team. I doubt I will ever see it happen in my lifetime, but there's nothing wrong with having some ambition and some dreams. Some people hang on the words of people too much and use those words to mock, but would mock equally if our stated ambition was to finish mid-table every season. Seems to be too much of this lack of ambition these days in this country, always happy to be also-rans, the plucky little losers. Well done VW, at least we know what you're trying to achieve (even if you may be a little deluded). Lets get the first bit done first and do better than last year.
