Glad you posted this Stickman. I was trying to post the same thing last night but had already consumed my 3 posts. I was sat watching the last part of SPOTY and was just about to throw something at the TV, so convinced was I that Big Ron would not be included. I was so glad that they did not overlook him, well done to the Beeb.

Don't think Pardew lost his head at all, seemed to be chief peace-maker along with Poch in my view. Think you're trying to see things that aren't there.

Chambers was originally a midfielder (winger), and maybe he will eventually return to that sort of position. He is getting to be as good as Clyne. At the start of the season he lacked confidence going forward, was very good defensively. The difference now is that since he has come back in he has looked confident going forward as well, and so his game has become more complete. I am perfectly happy with Chambers standing in for Clyne, one of the positions where we do really have good competition now. If only we could say the same with LB, although I would be happy to see Clyne at LB and Chambers at RB should the need arise.

It has always been a source of irritation to me that Big Ron was not on the top banner. Even more so after his untimely demise. No-one deserves more to have been up there with the greats from our history, frankly more deserving than at least 4 of the present incumbents, but would just prefer to see him added rather than take anyone away, surely there is room for 9.

The Gaston Ramirez of his day.

12 year old with bum fluff. Has the interviever dozed off?

Might as well take 7 subs really.

Savage suggests Moyes should buy a load of Southampton players.....
VectisSaint replied to petermcpete's topic in The Saints
Really worried and upset by Savage's comments. Realising now that Moyes does not have a scouting network and that he wouldn't know that Southampton have players that would improve his misfiring team. Hope Moyes does actually read Savage's article on the BBC web site to get this insightful information. Moyes has earned my respect now knowing his chief scout is Robbie Savage. -
If we're going to count Brits as opposed to English we could add Steven Davis. Not forgetting Sam Gallagher was on the bench. Think that makes 10 Brits in our matchday squad.

Could be a tricky game, they play some nice football and are top of the Championship, so are no mugs. Good for JRod, lets hope no-one gets sentimental and considers playing Fox against his old team though. We must put out a strong side, with 5 PL teams guaranteed to be knocked out this is a trophy we stand a chance of winning (unlike the LC which was beginning to look very tough with all the big guns still in).

Not sure what "absolute whack" means, but the comments added make me assume it is not good. Really find it difficult to see where you are coming from unless you are trying to be a Sanchez. Thought Cork was pretty good last night, still have not seen the first 2 goals except in real time at the match but if he was implicated in the 2nd then fair enough, but other than that slotted back into the team and demonstrated what he did so well last season. His stats on 442 show how good he actually was, the only time his passes went astray are when he gets near the penalty area, we all know his shooting is gash, always has been, probably the reason why he has lost out to VW and Spiderman in the choice for the two DM positions, because otherwise there is not much to choose. Recall that it was his return from injury last season that coincided with our tightening up in defence, so strange to see comments about us going back to the old ways when he is introduced. For someone making his 5th PL sub appearance of the season I think he was actually very good. In general we actually played well last night, apart from 3 attacks, actually limiting a team to 6 attacks in total is really top drawer stuff (3 goals, 2 corners and one blaze over the top from Benteke). Yoshi was at fault, but as they said on MOTD or Sky can't recall which, he was undone by the first goal by a supreme piece of skill by the little fat Gabby. In the end though it was a mistake, compounded by a terrible attempt at a tackle by Lovren and poor positioning by Gazza. Strange really that if one wants to find a scapegoat for last night (which I don't) one glaring example would be Lovren, who really was very poor by his usual high standards. But then no-one dares criticise DL. His clearances were often out of the Kelvin Davis "How to kick for touch" manual, his tackling was poor (again by high standards). I still believe he is made to look better by Fonte who has been first class this season but gets no credit. Really concerned at the injuries that we picked up last night. Wanyama leaving on crutches, Clyne going off, Lovren appeared to get a nasty crack to the head, although he carried on, Shaw was definitely struggling for last 15 minutes (even before the awful tackle). Did we really go 3 at the back, or was it just that Shaw could not run back to help in defence. I guess he was cramping up but looked to be in serious trouble. I also believe Fonte was rested and was only going to be played in an emergency, suggests he is not fully fit. Does anyone really know when KD might be back? He was in training pics last week s can't be too bad, I don't think in hindsight Gazza did much wrong last night but would rather have some experience between the sticks for Saturday. Lallana was great last night, especially first half, sometimes he is just too good for the rest of the team. Lambert was very poor, apart from the brilliant assist for Ossie's goal. Ossie was pretty good, though he could have done better with one shot after he did so well to make space for the shot. Thought Davis played a blinder, he really is all-action and did not stop running, whichever position he was playing. Sorry for the ramble, no more posts left today.

There were planty of runs that DO was making last night. He wasn't brilliant but he did actually contribute and you may recall he did score. I think if you didn't see the action last night then clearly you did miss it, or chose to do so. Excluding pens and free kicks hasn't DO now scored as many goals as SRL this season for Saints? In a lot less apps. Both from open play. Not knocking SRL but a bit of perspective is needed with DO, he has started very few games, was injured in at least 2 that he did start and has contribute 2 league goals so far. Not great, but not that bad either.

I think we should have a poll. Most of those that should be banned have previously contributed several posts to this thread demonstrating once again why they should be banned. Amusingly Alpine thought this was about him I would not want to see Alpine banned, he is not a troll, just a bit deluded, and provides some of the comical content to this forum. I would only like to see 2 bans, and they have been mentioned here many times already so no point stating the obvious again. But the problem is that the Moderators of this board just let them register again with some new name and it all starts again. If the Forum were modified so that you don't see replies to those on Ignore then the problem would be solved.

No, not the tech college in st marys, what used to be the College of Art/Tecno Logy in East Park or The Institute

I would dispute that Davis is good at long kicking. He is actually very bad at this, but not as bad as Boruc. It is one of Gazza's strengths, though whether the long ball up to the strikers is our preferred modus operandi is open to debate, MP usually prefers us to play out from the back making long kicking a forgotten art.

Good to see Troll Sanchez taking over yet another thread with his mindless bull ****. I guess he believes that if he says something often enough it will be true. Clealry knows nothing about how players are recruited and bought and sold, and seems to think all of the players we have bought were from Italy. I can only think of 3 players that we have bought permanently from Italy, Boruc, Gaston, Ossie and Guly. Artur, complete failure of course, broken hand was Cortese's fault, Guly was a great success when he was bought, Ramirez does not fit into our current system, but was OK-ish when Adkins was in charge, and Ossie has started about 6 games, been injured in two of them, has recovered from a medical condition and so has only played one game since, yet he is being written off, how fecking stupid can some people be (no need to answer Barry we know the answer in your case). Why pick on Italy anyway, Ossie played successfully in Spain, where we know all the players are failures. We get just as many transfers wrong from other places, Holland has had good and bad, Switzerland useless, Japan disappointing. Perhaps we should buy all of our players from France where we have a 100% success rate (1 of 1, Morgan was pre-Cortese). Some of our British signings have not been too good, Danny Fox for one. Anyway, it is not Cortese that decides who we buy, it is not even Lou Reed. Paul Mitchell is Head of Recuritment, Cortese just does the deals. Of course he is prominent in the signings, thats because HE RUNS THE CLUB, really its not difficult. Italy should also be a good source because many Italian clubs are in huge debt and need to shift players, can't see any reason why not to look there. Ramirez is hardly a product of Italy, he has played more games for Penarol and Saints than he ever did for Bologna. Anyway, I will spend another pleasant evening viewing troll postings that people will continue to quote (no point having these idiots on ignore) because with only 3 posts per day now I won't waste another one on this thread.

Ramirez' agent fees would have been included in the previous season's table. If we have paid as little as we have then we have great value for money with Ossie, Lovren and VW.

Feck me, you still banging on on this thread. Can't you give it a rest with your constant claptrap. We got your point 200 post ago, it was as ridiculous then as it is now.

Unlikely set of results, not least us being the first team to win at the Bridge during Mourinho's reigns, could still see us 2nd after tomorrow. More likely we will be 8th. Just shows how close it is at the top apart from Arsenal. But a bit of a gap developing below 9th amd the team in 10th we play on Wednesday.

But would we be happy with a 3-5 home defeat to go with it? (my first game at the Dell, same season)

I suspect that Skinead O'Connor would be more insightful than the fella that really wrote this.
