  1. Agree with you Charlie. RL had a decent game yesterday but he certainly did not "win the majority of headers". He "lost" many unfairly, the Reading defenders were constantly nudging him in the back and sometimes RL deliberately stands firm and lets the defenders climb over him for what should be a free kick. Other aspects of his game yesterday were very good, defensively and in midfield and his creativity is top drawer, but it appeared he left his shooting boots in the changing room. As you say some people tend to see what they want to see rather than what actually occurs.
  2. Would argue with this, some of his play was actually quite spectacular, the shot from the left corner of the pen would have been amazing if it had been 6 inches lower, and some of his lay-offs and movement were very good. Had a great view from the Itchen/Chapel corner, maybe if you were in the Northam you would not have seen some of the intricate footwork.
  3. No it was not exaggerated, you presumably did not hear the boos that were loud and clear in the Chapel/Itchen, eventually they were drowned out by the Northam starting the Guly song which was a welcome relief. Its not just the booing either its the inane comments made by many, who have clearly never watched the fella actually play and just feel it is cool to shout out insults that are not even relevant. There is no excuse ever to boo a home player during a game, never, the I pays me money so I'm entitled is completely fatuous. For those meatheads it would be better if you didn't pay your money in the first place.
  4. Terrible article, Ramirez is 22. By the way there were goals in the game, just that the **** of a referee disallowed a perfectly good one, so NA was correct.
  5. At the time I thouht it looked quite a simple chance, but on the replays last night it was much more difficult than it looked. He really had to dig it out to get much on it at all, he made the keeper work and make a decent save.
  6. Would depend on how bad Messi's injury is though. I heard it may not be a problem in which case we could take a punt on the lad I guess. Would probably have to change Lallana's song though.
  7. I think it was largely down to the fact that whenever he did try to jump the Reading "defender" was holding him down or pushing him in the back. One day a Ref will give a few of these fouls, but most are too afraid/incompetent to do so.
  8. They may not have been the most vociferous of supporters, but to say this is just blatantly untrue. To be fair today the whole ground was quiet, our supporters were hardly heard either, at least not until after the goal. I guess it was just tension.

    Shaw

Shaw is the real deal, he is first and foremost a great defender, but he is also now beginning to grow in confidence going forward. Its hard to believe watching him that he is 17, defensively he is much better than either Bridge or Bale. Of course comparing him to Bale now is unfair, as he has been transmogrified into an attacking MF. It pains me to say it but he reminds me of a young Neville. He is looking so good that I don't believe now that we need a LB in the Jan window, with Fox as emergency backup I think Shaw is fine, only concern is his fitness levels. We will do well to hang on to him in a year or so.
  10. Its hard to admit to agreeing with Mr T, but for once I do. Though J-Rod was reasonably good today, but he clearly has potential. He was being targeted by the Reading "defenders" and while they were targeting him it gave others some room to exploit. The referee should have given the lad more protection today instead of seeing him being bundled over time and again.
  11. You do know there are other managers that exist. Your obsession with Hoddle is quite worrying sometimes. Have you ever stopped to consider that actually Hoddle is not very good, as he has demonstrated by not being a manager now for several years. Hoddle's success was based on a working partnership with John Gorman. Take JG out of the equation and Hoddle is poor (likewise JG without GH is poor as well). It was a very good thing that Hoddle did not return in 2004, it would have been a disaster. He also showed himself to be a thoroughly dislikeable person through his lack of respect and his comments about disabled people (and other things he spouted off about). Nasty piece of work, hopefully we will never see him again connected with Saints. But please carry on with your obsession, it is often entertaining.
  12. I guess you were not at the game. Some meatheads were booing Guly long after he came on today. There is no justification for booing a player when he comes on, all this "fans pay their money so they are entitled to boo players" is bull****. No-one is entitled to be a moron. Booing a performance after the event can be fair game. But booing a player and directing some of the venomous comments at him when he comes on the pitch is just plain unacceptable. It rubs off on some of the kids and really is very annoying when it is not justified. I heard some kids sat behind me mocking him, saying "I saw Guly actually running" or words to that effect - just shows that youngsters pick up rubbish from some of our moronic so-called supporters, and start to believe things that are so stupid - anyone who watches Guly will know that the guy actually nearly always puts in a good shift, running is definitely not one of his shortcomings. I for one really enjoyed his cameo today, really brightened up what was otherwise quite a dull game.
  13. No, and most have been sub appearances, 10-15 minutes. Of course he needs a goal, and he came damn close today, twice, would do wonders for his confidence, unlike the meathead boo boys way of looking at it.
  14. Agreed, total idiots who boo him. He actually was very good when he came on. Probably should have scored but alos created other good. hances and almost scored a worldie. Some of the cretins who boo him should take a look at themselves and ask whether they are really Sints supporters.
  15. Maybe he meant the opposition, he doesn't actually say "our players". Because there was clearly drop off for our players, even in the second game.
  16. Major cutbacks and pruning on at least an annual basis
  17. Sounds sadly familiar, seems like we are making sure that all of our teams have the same in-built suicidal tendency.
  18. Fair play then, the art of standing still is much maligned. I do it a lot
  19. I understood Lee won and scored the first penalty. Maybe he didn't play very well, but surely our goal counts as a memorable incident, as would his later miss. So thats 2 memorable incidents that Lee was involved in.
  20. Commentators said on the slow mo replay that it was clear pen, given by the Lineo (I'm not watching by the way, just listening on SP, gave up with that awful video link after removing several malicious files and so on)
  21. At least don't let him take 2 in one game
  22. Probably for the handball by Lindard which lead to his sending off
  23. United down to 10 men, Lee's 2nd penalty brilliantly saved
  24. Let's hope the other 10 back him up...
  25. Good idea, no pre-season, played 1 match in the year 2012, and people moan about Boruc being off the pace and overweight...
