The reason no-one says it is because it is rubbish. Lallana had another good game last night, just like last week. God knows what you expect, Messi or somthing. I have read some negative posts bu you make Alpine look like a happy-clappy. Some people have no clue.

MLT and Paine - top greats never to have won a trophy
VectisSaint replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
Maybe the Blog has been updated since it was orignally posted, but it does say that Painer was awarded a WC medal (belatedly). But he also won Division 3 championships twice (once with us and once with Hereford) and of course Division 2 Runners-up, so it patently is rubbish that he never won anything. MLT also received a runners-up medal at the ZDS in 1992. So basically the blog is a crock of ****e just like a lot of lazy journalist crap this is written these days. Referring to the Blog: "Neither player is unlikely to be forgotten any time soon on the south coast. By way of comparison, anybody been thinking about Paul Gilchrist, Jim Steele or Mel Blyth recently?" Was thinking about Jim Steele a few days ago, when he was on the Mick Channon interview on ****Sport. The double negative by the author makes the sense of the above paragraph completely wrong as well. -
Some goals from midfield really are needed. Cork and Hammond 1 goal between them this season (Spiderman has 2), thats poor really for a high-scoring team. Our full backs don't score many either. Last season Jose got 6 I think, this season zero.

So if he's improved as much as the other fatty you refer to we should sign him up pronto :-) I blame Whisky George fairly and squarely for any porkiness amongst our players at the time. Its what happens when you are a complete retard of a coach and you lose your assistant who made you look something like decent.

Last team to win the Championship after promotion from League One

Skates, Wessex League in 2012/13 -
Article written around a lot of historical material that is no longer relevant. In any case Middlesbrough (where Southgate was manager) are another leading exponent of the youth academy system, and have similar issues to Saints in terms of catchment area. Those scouts camping at St Mary's this season must be struggling to see the new youth players, because apart from an odd cameo appearance there has been little or no sign of any youth player making a breakthrough this term.

Wasn't Hamill the player that Whisky George managed to turn into a tub of lard? Or am I confusing him with another loanee?

What are we going to do for a goalie on Friday ?
VectisSaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Our keeper would not be seen dead in a blue shirt -
I get the feeling that we will be linked with an awful lot of players in the next few months assuming we get promoted, most of the links will be nothing more than speculation by lazy journos (is there any other sort?) and most of the players mentioned will be utter dross. This one illustrates exactly what I mean.

He was outstanding on Saturday as well, just that some people only want to remember the missed chance/"dive" incident.
-
Morgan is still our best center mid, problem is that him and Hammond together does not work. Hammond is well suited to some games, where finesse is not the be all and end all, today was probably one of those games. We will need to strengthen in this area for next season though. Don't think there is too much to argue about with the 2 wide players (Lallana and Chappers), but again we will need to strengthen on both sides in future (on the right we can improve on Chappers, on the left we need to give AL competition, so Messi would be a decent option there).

Hav we had a manager with a better win ratio than Adkins?
VectisSaint replied to Frank's cousin's topic in The Saints
There are very few managers who have a better win ratio than that, unless you count Celtic or Rangers maybe. Fergie has a win ratio of 59.44 at Manure, Mancini 58.5% an Citeh. Mourinho had 70.8% at Chelski though, so its clear NA is not yet the Chosen One (not bad for an interpreter). -

Your posts are a bit worrying, even after the edit. I thought on the couch was iffy. -

I just hope they get 6 points in the next 5 days. Beyond that I don't give a feck. -
It probably should not have been a penalty, difficult to see it was deliberate handball, but they had 2 stronger cases earlier. But it doesn't matter to us, a draw or loss for Wet Spam amounts to just about the same thing.
-
Great result, really didn't matter whether it was a loss or a draw. If results go right we could be promoted on Saturday (barring a mathematical improbability). Hope its a great week for Brighton. Not counting chickens though.

I don't understand, is he predicting a close shave?
-
Trouble with Guly is he always looks lazy on the bench.
-
Yes, but not with the 4 you originally mentioned which is what I was responding to). Spiderman was often sub (but , but you said it was best with Chaplow, Hammond, Cork & Lallana, fact is that 4 only played twice as starters, so difficult to see how you can make that judgement. We were poor against Brighton, fortunately for us they imploded. Our best midfield 4 is still Schneiderlin, Cork, Chaplow and Lallana.
-
Think that 4 only played twice together as starters, in the 2 games you mentioned. We were running away with the league way before those 2 games, usually with Spiderman playing.
-
Frazer missed a few games already with no sub GK, was beginning to think Chung was the backup, but he's out as well, so I guess it must be Lambert.
-
Bit concerned that Frazer has some problem that must have flared up again on Saturday. Not confident in Butters any more I'm afraid, but he will probably give his all against his old club. Not surprised that Guly has been left out, still rate him, but he was poor on Saturday. Butters and Chaplow might work down the right, certainly better than Butters backing up Guly.
-
You didn't watch him on Saturday then. I suspect the problem might be that he is absolutely knackered after that game. Its easy to forget sometimes that AL was diagnosed with a heart problem a few years back, I have never seen him put so much effort in as he did against the Skates.
