So often these "articles" turn out to be a few sentences that a 10 year old could put together in 5 minutes. Standard of "journalism" on the BBC and elsewhere is so poor these days with people trying desparately to fillsports web pages and blogs. Given the author couldn't even be bothered to find out how to spell Markus it just shows how pathetic it is.

The bit I have a problem with though is how it would work with midweek matches. I think this is the sort of stuff they are trying to thrash out. I think this was on the Beeb a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure its a rumour, I seem to recall Cortese said some time ago that we had a major sponsor lined up when we got to the PL, but maybe it happened a little sooner than he expected. I suspect that someone with some time on their hands could dig up a thread that contains this.

Not until it is restructured in 2013/4 season. There are plans to reorganise it on u21 basis (with latitude to play over age players) and to play games after the main game at the weekend. The current Prem Reserve league is not even supported by all of the PL teams (including Spuds and Barcodes).

You have seriously over-rated Tommy Forepast. How can you award him zero in all seriousness, -10 would be about right IMHO, although perhaps a tad generous.

You should post a picture of how you dress to go to a match, then we'll (a) know how we should behave and (b) judge who is the clown and who is embarrassing Why do some gimps always want to judge other people. I don't dress as a clown (or anything else other than an old geezer) but I don't judge others, just try growing up and letting others live as they want to live. It doesn't harm you. If you are easily embarrassed by your fellow Saints supporters perhaps it would be better if you supported someone else. Aldershot would probably welcome some more supporters to make them the second biggest team in Hampshire (if they aren't already). Boscombe may also be interested in recruitment of some new bozos.

Why will Crawley be demoted? What chance now that we can stop caring about Portsmouth. We are Southampton, we're Premier League. Frankly Reading will be our bigger rivals now, Skates are irrelevant.

Good to see that no-one actually read the post. Seems to be little or no interest in what goes on at the club these days other than the 1st team. Yet everyone knows that we have one of the best academies in the country.

Adkins was talking about it immediately after the match, not specific players but finalising deals and evolving the squad, the players who will not be staying almost certainly already know. In some cases it is stating the bleeding obvious, Jaidi is retiring (and has been offered a coaching role I believe), Holmes and Forte have already been loaned out, Holmes has stated he would like to join Swindon full-time. The players that are staying are not stupid they all know they will have to fight for their places next season. I actually doubt many others will be released, Forecast (hopefully), Bart (probably) and most likely Barnard and Seaborne. We will hang on to Punch (unless Blackpool go up in which case Olly might come back for him) and I would not be surprised to see us keep Connolly, his experience in the PL will be invaluable, especially with a 7-man bench. Otherwise we will keep what we have and evolve with maybe 5 or 6 new players. The 25 man squad is a bit of a myth, as it does not count u21 players. I would fully expect several youngsters to be loaned out to Championship sides. What I'm sure of is that we will not see wholesale changes, evolution not revolution. Don't be surprised if the team that played yesterday is not fundamentally the team that starts the first game next season. We also won't see any mercenaries like the lot down the road, and not many if any players at the end of their career (although an experienced CM player would not go amiss).

Hopefully he will develop, he is clearly an excellent player, but he will have to add goals to his armoury. You can't afford an attacking MF player who does not score. It would be like having Anders Svensson in the team again :-)

Amongst all the euphoria of gaining promotion yesterday I see that the Academy lads were also pipped at the post. Fulham u18s won 4-3 at Norwich to overhaul us by one point in our Academy league pool. I still don't really understand why Fulham still had a game to play after we finished our fixtures, but there you go. Still, well done Doddsy and all the staff and players

What a highly inappropriate comparison. Lowe was the Maggie Thatcher of Football, a ****. Just like Thatcher was the worst thing that ever happened to this country, Lowe was the wrost thing that ever happened to our club. Cortese on the other hand is one of the best things that has ever happened. Sorry to bring the word Lowe to this day, but had to be done with mentions of that awful woman.

Chung v Derby. The Connolly goal may be a better team goal, but Chung's was the best individual goal for us by far, and a rarity for Saints, a shot from outside the area. Amazing, especially as we really didn't know he had it in him until then. The power of that strike was absolutely awesome.

Who is the enormous bloke in the changing room in SaintsPlayer video (I don't mean a player either, so not a hangover from Burley's times)? Is he really part of the coaching staff, or is he in fact the bus? Don't really mean to be rude, I'm not exactly skinny myself, but really looks a bit out of place.

Its quite clear that Bale is angling for a return. Said yesterday that he will consider his future if Spuds don't qualify for the Chumps League, so thats it, code for I'm going back to Saints. Seriously we will sign Hooper I'm sure. Our main needs are for a new keeper (backup initially), 2 CBs (backup initially), new CM, preferably someone with PL experience and who can score goals and pacy winger (Bale).
