  1. Says it all about some people in my view. Made Beattie the player he was with his selfless running and support, an integral part of WGS' system. His goals total was not spectacular (11) but many bigger names fared worse (M Hughes for instance). 2 or 3 serious injuries blighted his career, yet he is still playing and still scoring goals. Not the greatest player in the world, but an honest, hard working pro who gave his all. Hardly any player actually deserves abuse, and certainly Brett is not one that does.
  2. Sharp was getting stick before he started scoring, apart from his first which really wasn't his goal he did not score for a while and quite frankly looked out of his depth and very unfit, especially as we got to see Chung who fitted in straight away. Don't think many have given him stick since he started banging them in which clearly coincided with a change in his fitness. Except for the penalty miss at Blackpool of course which was criminal. My earliest memory of a whipping boy was actually Mick Channon. He was booed and laughed at in his early days, didn't seem able to stay on his feet. Took a while for some to realise that maybe it was because he was actually being fouled and the resultant free kicks and penalties were quite useful. Frank Saul was also none too popular after the departure of Chivers. Tom Jenkins was another whipping boy, as was Steve Williams at first, look what became of him. Matt Oakley was targeted completely unfairly, unfortunately some players such as Oaks, and to some extent the same with Morgan, are given roles and some fans just do not understand enough about football to understand this.
  3. Seems self evident to me, Puncheon is a bit of a tosser, Holmes isn't. What has Puncheon said anyway since his return to the fold, clearly even he could see that things were actually pretty good at Saints. Anyway, I don't see what Holmes has said that is so unreasonable. He says he sees a bright future for the Club and people think he is mad. Really don't see that him being a practcing Christian has anything to do with it, did Ian Paisley always (ever) say nice things?
  4. I think many people overlook where Man City were fairly recently. People would have laughed if you said they would win the PL in 2012 back in 1998. Chelsea have only become a major force since Abramovich took over, they were nearly always a mid-table side before that. Newcastle have had one good season (definitely no fluke), but it will be a real test of Pardew to repeat that next season when their squad is stretched due to the Europa Noddy League. Only Manure and Arse have been consistent top performers for the last 20 years. Spuds have hardly been top 6 until Redkrapp took over, if he goes (which is looking more likely) expect their fortunes to decline again (though it hurts me to say it). Things change. Look at Blackburn, even Forest and Derby, Villa are rubbish at the moment. It doesn't usually happen overnight, there is nothing wrong with ambition, I don't see us winning the PL in the foreseeable future, but nothing to say we could not sneak into the top 4 occassionally in a few years, Europa League is a definite possibility, although that really can be a double-edged sword, smaller clubs definitely struggle to maintain Europa and PL competitiveness.
  5. No idea what this means
  6. So why didn't she go to the Cardiff game? Plastic.
  7. Indirect free kick, **** sake Ref.
  8. Kids today, can't separate them from their mobiles, but born and bred on the phone? thats taking things a bit far.
  9. No, made his debut in the summer after he left us in 2006 when he was playing for Doncaster. Maik Taylor also played for N Ireland but also after he left us.
  10. I'm planning to buy for my entire extended family, plus a few imaginary mates.
  11. Is he with his missus, Dyna?
  12. They will wipe the floor with us.
  13. Luton's 30 point penalty was not all for administration, it also included 10 points for paying agents via a third party and came about after 3 administrations in the Footbal League in 10 years. Chester City's points deduction was by the Football Conference. None of the points deductions were by the FA, except Pompey's 9 points which was handed out when they were in the Premier League (which is run by the FA). The FA have so far been completely consistent, as they have so far only ever handed out one points deduction for administration, viz Skates. The Football League is inconsistent, but this is not related to Chester, and there were extenuatiing circumstances for Luton. The Conference is well known for its draconian measures.
  14. The fact that "Mr Clueless" actually makes perfect sense of course is irrelevant.
  15. Who'd have thought thirty year ago we'd all be sittin' here drinking Château de Chasselas, eh? In them days we was glad to have the price of a cup o' tea. A cup o' cold tea. Without milk or sugar. Or tea. In a cracked cup, an' all. Oh, we never had a cup. We used to have to drink out of a rolled up newspaper. The best we could manage was to suck on a piece of damp cloth. But you know, we were happy in those days, though we were poor. And you try and tell the young people of today that ..... they won't believe you
  16. Don't disagree, but the point is everyone at the top in the FA is corrupt or incompetent as well, its not something that is exclusive to Jonny Foreigner.
  17. Absolutely, we should have it controlled by the fat British corrupt crooks instead and/or the blazer brigade who are still locked in the 19th century. We (the UK) actually still have far more control than any other nation in the world, with the 4 home nations having 4 members of the IFAB and FIFA having the other 4 members ensuring that the Laws of the Game are maintained largely only with the agreement of the UK home nations.
  18. What is there to explain? Its simple, PL football & economics, what the hell do people expect? Really happy that he doesn#t blab on about meaningless stuff, when he speaks it is usually interesting and useful, but couldn't really give a toss if he wants to speak or not.
  19. No goalkeepers during extra time would spice things up and probably remove the need for penalties.

You could always walk (or run), and there is much food to be obtained from hedgerows and even roadkill to supplement the diet. Bloody kids today, don't know they're born :-)
  21. Really has lost his way, not just through injuries. Was sent off 3 times for Bradford last season (and only played 26 games), including his debut and second game. Suspended for 5 games for his involvement in the Crawly brawl. Surprised that Bradford have given him a contract to be honest.
  22. "Keen to resurrect his career in La Liga", so that probably counts us out then.
  23. This. Its fecking embarrassing being English sometimes.
  24. I suspect he was recommended by the Beavers, or the Brownies.
  25. Apparently he is running the lympich torch relay in swindon tomorrow, so is presumably planning to link up with De Canio next season. I will try to trip him up tomorrow as he runs past and see if I can get a scoop (he will presumably dive and roll around for a while first but I will stick by my task).
