Sorry, but you are the one who is delusional. Of course it's a trophy, historically one of the most revered in the world (after the FA Cup and probably the Jules Rimet). Below is what the trophy looks like (assume its not exactly the same one that has been played for since 1888 but not 100% sure of that). We have only ever won 3 proper trophies in our history, and only then if you count the JPT and the 3rd Division, yet some numpties don't consider the Football League Championship as worth winning. I blame it on Sky, and their pretence that football did not exist before the Premier League. Like the players and the management, thank the Lord, we want to win the Championship, being best loser is not good enough and will leave a sour taste just like losing did last year. We

Interesting, we have hardly heard from NC all season. It would actually be good to hear from him now and again, he seems to have taken much more of a back seat since we were promoted last season.

Yet another example of the stupidity of some football owners (thankfully not ours), replace the manager that they put faith in with only a few games to go before the end of the season while clearly stating that they will not replace him before the end of the season. Not saying they should have kept him, but to not bring in a replacement for the last few matches to let them take a look at the squad is just plain stupidity. But there you go, what do you expect from a knobhead like Mitchell.

Not true. He tied up Butterfield for most of the game (hence some people's incorrect opinion of Butterfield's performance), and was extremely clever, some really good touches. Unfortunately (for him) he is in a team where the other players are no match for him, and so his talent is completely wasted. He is also a nasty piece of work, but credit to him he displayed that at least he had a sense of humour in the first half, his response to the boos in the Itchen/Chapel corner was to blow us all a nice kiss. He was actually less niggly than Gillet, who really has become a bit of a nasty little **** (Paul Scholes without the talent).

What Would Happen if Kelvin Was Injured in the Warm-up?
VectisSaint replied to Steeleye Saint's topic in The Saints
The answer is in post 11 -
Butterfield was not crap yesterday, in fact he did his primary job (that is defending) very well. Keeping Diouf relatively quiet took some work because although he is a loathsome individual Diouf is still a very talented player. As a result Danny could not get forward as often as we would probably have liked. My only criticism of him yesterday was that a couple of his crosses were poor, more floated than driven in, and as a result too near the keeper. Still overall he had a good game especially considering his lack of action this year.

Saints 2 V 0 Doncaster Post Match Chat!!
VectisSaint replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
It was the case, happened just in front of me. Technically the referee had no choice, but sometimes these rules are completely stupid. Why would we appeal (I don't believe we can anyway)? A booking at this stage of the season is not really a problem, will be difficult to pick upanother 9 before end of season. It was only going to become an issue when Billy started to get tangled up with Chimbomba, and NA had to intervene to stop him getting a 2nd booking. Can't believe that Chimbomba was wearing gloves yesterday, they were not even off with his apparent good friend Sharp (according to Sharp himself). -
This. Pretty clear to me that this is the best result for us, and of course we should be aiming to be Champions. I really hate these posts that say being Champions doesn't matter its getting promoted thats important. ******, its being Champions thats important, especially of the Football League (maybe it wasn't quite so important last year). We enter competitions to WIN, not be a loser. Thankfully our players and manager don't take the namby-pamby attitiude of some supporters here who seem to think like Sky that the prize is being in the Premier League. The prize this season is WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP. No-one cares who comes second. The result of winning the prize is that we get promoted. Make the most of it, because its likely to be a long long time before we get the chance to win another league trophy. Fed up with being second best, I want our team to win something and show what we all know, that we are the best team in the league.

This. Seems fairly standard response from losing manager to me, especially when a player scores against his old team. I would have said something similar if Gillett had scored for them yesterday.
-
He was decent but that was several years ago now, he has hardly played in the last couple of years, so get him doing his crop circles and he will be knackered. Still always found him very frustrating but agree he did do some decent stuff in his day, but could and should have been so much better.

Makes me laugh that people think that Wenger doesn't already know about them. Like almost all clubs we probably offer scouts refreshments and hospitality to visit our academy matches.
-
Hope so, easy to snuff out any threat from him. Just stand still and let him run rings round you 3 or 4 times then take the ball off him because he will be knackered. One of the most frustrating players we ever had, could have been so much better if they had installed a brain in him to go with his undoubted talent.

Don't be daft, northerners drive Reliant Robins. I know because it was on Top Gear.

Palace are still looking for a late charge into the play-off places. The gap is only 7 points with a game in hand on several teams above them It might be all over for them by the time we play but this is probably as difficult an away game to win as any. And if you think Posh will roll over and make it easy for us, then look what they did to Reading, and not forgetting the grudge Ferguson holds against us. There are no even remotely easy games between now and the end of the season.

But as a Roman soldier professionally he would have been used to the Italian fit Still like ThreeSixty said, he would be rolling in his grave (in Palestine).

Some of the things you read on here you just couldn't make up.

How can we be a perfect club when we have no radio station?
-
Afobe, this is a guy who has not made a proper first team appearance for Arsenal (yet), has been out injured for 6 months and has just recovered and played a couple of reserve team games (and scored) and played half a season in League One. Not really sure how he can be a replacement for the hugely experienced Roberts.

Are we still unpleasant club to deal with?
VectisSaint replied to thorpie the sinner's topic in The Saints
Excellent, if we **** off the Telegraph thats great, deeply unpleasant newspaper. -
Palace is potentially our hardest away game to win. They are still targetting a playoff position, please don't tink for a minute they have nothing to play for. They also have one of the best home records in terms of avoiding defeat, 2 losses at Selhurst all season (same as us, only bettered by Birmingham), and have only conceded 10 at home in 18 games. We may not lose it but anyone who thinks this is our easiest away game is seriously unaware of their form and position. Middlesbro are probably the easiest away team, their home record is not great in terms of wins, but they don't lose many either. Posh showed last night that they are still very good at home, but inconsistent. If you offered me 4 points from our 4 away games now I would bite your hand off..
-
This really is a must win. I know thats a bad saying, but we need to ensure we win at least 3 of our remaining home games, because on paper our remaining 4 aways are all very tough, all against teams looking to get in the play-offs and who are good at home. If Iwas offered it now I would take 4 points from our away games, but that leaves us needing 3 wins at least at home and even then it would be squeaky bum time.

We bought him for 3 reasons: (1) So that he is unavailable for Donny this weekend (2) To stop Wet Sham buying him (3) As reserve goalkeeper Seriously though, he has suffered because he has not been able to demonstrate anything much in the chances he has been given, whereas Chung has grabbed his chances with both hands and made a huge impression. I suspect Billy is finding it a bit difficult to settle. But I am also confident that he will come good, but maybe it will be next season before we see him at his best. He really does have some competition at the moment, with Chung, Connolly and Guly all playing well (despite what the moaners say about Guly and even Connolly). I think Barnard is no longer in NA's plans and will be off at the end of the season. I would be surprised if Billy doesn't start on Saturday though, since Chung, Guly and Connolly all seem to have injuries to varying degrees. But I would be delighted if Chung is fit to start ahead of Billy, because he is a better option if fit at the moment.

"Typical Saints" will probably mess it up after all

Beginning to believe, but 10 points will not be enough, think we will need 90. -
What a brilliant job Warnock has done so far.
