You didn't watch him on Saturday then. I suspect the problem might be that he is absolutely knackered after that game. Its easy to forget sometimes that AL was diagnosed with a heart problem a few years back, I have never seen him put so much effort in as he did against the Skates.
-
Glad someone agrees with me, just a bit concerned its Glasgow :-( Don't want him necessarily because he's hard, but because he can pass the ball intelligently
-
Morgan didn't need to make the challenge anyway. I am a great fan of Morgan, but he was reckless and in my opinio he would have not been playing Monday anyway, and we would have played much of today's game with 10 men if he had stayed on, he was so fired up today.

Ok, I think I've found the answer to the problem. Still at least I know the words now.

Agree with most of your assessment, and especially the above. Perhaps now people will begin to see that it is not Guly that is the problem. Its embarrassing when so-called supporters boo their own players off the pitch, but perhaps they should consider what they wish for, because de Ridder was no better. It is the rest of the players and how they use them that are the problem, but I swear Guly would have buried the chance the SDR fluffed. I like Guly but have to concede he was awful today, in the same way SDR was awful. Game spoiled for me a bit today by the knob sat in front of us. Completely out of his brain, falling over everyone. We really do have some mongs who are so-called supporters (never seen him before in the area that I sit regularly). Spent the part of the game that he was able to be at doing ****** signs to the Skates who were over a hundred yards away from him. I guess he thought he was proper hard, in fact he was a total ****, hope its a long time till scum like that come to the ground again, suspect he only comes to derbies.

Well it was loud where I was sat for most of the game, the Itchen/Northam corner gave a good account of themselves, the Northam itself was quiet though. I thought the rest of the ground was rocking myself, although we went quiet for 10 minutes before the end when it looked like we were going to lose, its called nerves, and some could see our promotion chances ebbing away because we were too interested in some no-marks from down the road.

In my view that player was on the pitch today, unfortunately with a blue shirt on. Scott Allan looks a very good prospect, maybe we can prise him away from the Baggies at the end of the season, in my opinion he is just what we need, and fits the bill well as a young player, even if not the intelligent bit.

Officials were appalling, Dave Swarbrick would have got more decisions right, and he's a fiddle player. Missed so many decisions and got so many wrong (both ways), the only thing he did in our favour was to allow the goal, and it seems now that he even got that wrong, though I've yet to see it again (I know Appleton claimed it went off a Skate but video evidence shows otherwise according to Solent). I saw Ashdown make a great save from Cork (I think) tipping it over the bar and the **** gave a goal kick. Sharp, Lambert, Lallana all pulled back many times. Referee failed to get the game under control in first few minutes, dished out cards when he should have just calmed things down. Booking Sharp but not booking anyone for Skates despite them doing the same thing. Giving free kicks for nothing, it was a shameful performance from where I was sat (Itchen/Chapel corner). He should never be allowed to referee again, and I am usually a supporter of referees. How he only gave 3 minutes added in the 1st half as well, Morgan was down for about 5 alone.

You're right, pitch invasions happened before the 70s, as a result fencing was erected to keep the morons off the pitch, which indirectly resulted in Hillsborough. As a result of the latter fences came down and we were banned from standing up in grounds. Utter morons that ran on the pitch after our second goal, and by the way they were not al men, most were little boys, some more little than others, and some were girls. One little kid of about 10, had no idea what he was doing but saw all the propa nawty boys running on the pitch, bunch of ****s.

1 second after the game kicks off 2moro we will be top...
VectisSaint replied to AndyD's topic in The Saints
No we won't. Points are awarded at the end of the game. -
Some of them work in the dockyard? Now I know you are kidding. Skates and work, 2 words not often found in the same sentence.

But there's the problem is't it, its not "just a small trophy", its the fecking Football League Championship, the trophy (or perhaps its a successor) that has been fought over since 1888 by the best teams in England, and for many of those years the best teams in the world. It has mostof the great names on it, Man U, Liverpool, Newcastle, etc etc, as well as some crap ones (e.g. Pompey). For anyone with any sense of history it is an important cup. Come 2nd and we are just best losers and don't win anything (again). All we have ever won in my lifetime in the League is the 3rd Division Trophy (hence why I wasn't too bothered last season, we had already won it before) and I don't even remember that. Winning is what it is all about, this being best loser is what is so wrong about this fecking country and the attitude today, oh its ok we did quite well and we played well. ****es me off this bad attitude. I blame Sky for a lot of it and making people believe that being in the Prem League is the prize, its not!!!!
-
Sad to see the attitude that you don't mind being 2nd best as long as we get to the league which we will never win. Its about being best in the league we are in first, and with that will come the promotion as well, fed up with always being 2nd best, desparately want us to win the League, it still hurts the previous 2 times as "best losers".

Nice, your mate must be a delight to spend an evening with. If I were NC I would be looking for a nice horse's head to return the compliment...
-
You forgot Chung.
-
Nah, they lost because their right back couldn't deal with Bale. I agree that Monk was poor though.
-
Swansea still use Gary Monk. Player that could never get in our team. Problem is that yes Jos/Jose may get "torn apart" by some strikers in Top 4 clubs, but there are 15 other teams in the PL (besides us and Top 4) who have strikers who are really no better than the NPC. I don't think we will plan to be Top 4 PL next season (that would be the season after) as long as we have players who can consolidate in the PL and be supplemented by a few new ones that will do fine. Fox and Richardson will be OK in the PL to start with, as will Chung and Kelvin. So the spine of the team will be similar to current, but we do need some pace RM, perhaps Walcott will come back (kidding).

Apparently we are moving from the Antelope to a new ground in the Archers Road, will be called The Dell.

Unfortunately it is the way with some posters, we have had scape goats for some years, Matt Oakley used to get a lot of stick, some people have a problem with Spiderman, and the Guly is lazy crap that some people come up with is really annoying. To me, in most of these cases it illustrates that some people who call themselves football supporters actually have very little knowledge of the game. I would dearly love to see the Opta stats more often, with Guly for example I suspect they would show categorically that he is actually one of the hardest working players in the squad, especially when he plays in midfield. But it will be very difficult to change the opinion of some people who see what they want to see (or even in some cases probably they don't even watch games). Bill Sharp is a little different at the moment. The criticism of him is very short term, based on the simple fact that he has not (yet) delivered and has looked almost every game like a fish out of water. OK he scored twice against Donny, but in the first half he looked absolutely terrible. Yet I will sit in the stand on Saturday and cheer him, shout encouragement to him (yes, I know he won't hear me) because I am convinced that soon he will prove to be a good buy, although maybe it will be next season before he really shows this. Its sad how some people continually give grief to some of our players, but as I said it usually reflects on them rather than the players. I suspect some of the mongs on here would have had a go at MLT or Mick Channon in their day. The ones I really detest are the ones that text into Solent straight after a match about Guly, I wish Solent would stop reading out these mong texts, they really do not contribute in any way and just make the texters look stupid.

Seems unlikely, usual Sun rubbish putting 2 and 2 together and making 5. I doubt that Adkins has made much headway in identifying players, since he tends to focus on one game at a time. Upson was identified as a short term loan thats all. I noticed yesterday (getting away from CBs) that George Boyd has turned down new contract at Posh and is on the transfer list. I thought last season he would be a good signing, still do.
-
He would be top class, as he was then. The problem is that I doubt today he would have even been spotted, because he wouldn't have been playing for his local village team (because there wouldn't be one), or for the County Schoolboys and being watched by club scouts.

No it doesn't. The Champonship is the target for this season, and thankfully that is what the team is after. Why do some people believe that settling for being best loser is good enough. The PL is not the be all and end all. That is for next season and you get to play in it whether you come first, best loser or also ran that wins the play-off. Therefore winning the title is the aim and should be what we are all striving for. We have never won a title in my life time and I want desparately for us to do so now. This is the Football League Championship, and has been won by many illustrious teams and I want our name to be on that role of honour as well. Winning League One was not such a big deal (we have actually won the 3rd Division before). It still annoys me that our previous 2 promotions to the 1st Division were as runners-up/best loser.

Rather he played stood.

So how does that fit in this case? The Club have come out and said quite a lot about Lambert. So based on your conclusions this would not be a long term injury. By the way where did all this stuff come about from on Saturday that Lambert did not travel up to Blackpool on the plane? The interviews with Adkins make it quite clear that the team travelled to Blackpool by coach, not plane (and I don't just mean the short journey from Manc airport or wherever to Blackpool, but all the way).
