  1. He has taken longer to get to 50 than Big Ron did, yet he has only been with us for 1.5 seasons!!! Just goes to show how good Ron was in his day, not forgetting he did it in the top division as well. Still well done Ricky, 14 goals this season is still looking a healthy return, 5 in 3 games.
  2. What rubbish. Only the very bottom clubs in L2 have taken a risk with Pulis, Stockport, Lincoln and now Barnet. Yet even these team, all desparate for players because they have no money have not sought to keep him beyond his loan period and he has been hawked around (or hawked himself around) to one after another. 40 professional appearances in about 6 years demonstrates quite clearly that even L2 is beyond young Pulis on a regular basis. There have been ample opportunities for him to be siged permanently, no-one is interested, I would venture to suggest that we are also paying his wages, so that some of these hard-up teams can at least give him an opportunity. Sorry if you think this is unfair, but the truth hurts, some players have to realise that they are just not going to make it, and in fact are stopping younger players with more talent getting an opportunity they deserve. How you come to think that some people who make negative comments about the guy are bullies is also pitiful, you could not be further from the truth in fact, at least in my case. And now he has been sent off. So thats another game or 3 that Barnet will have to do without him, must be so pleased to have him on their books.
  3. Its part of his endearing quality, that he was (a) from Guernsey and (b) that he was lazy. He says as much himself. It is not an insult. When the phrase was originally introduced I seem to recall the poster was using it as a comparison, compared calling Cortest a slimy Italian (or something similar) with someone calling MLT the lazy Guernseyman. Still does not detract from the fact that MLT is not the brightest when it comes to media gaffs as he ably demonstrated in his book. Will never detract from his footballing ability or his legendary status.
  4. Nicholl, Warren and Woods Seems to be a very defence minded name
  5. Wayne Talkes was from the Isle of Wight like me, he went to the Fairway School in Sandown (I went to the Grammar next door, until the two were merged in 1970). He was on the books and regularly played for the Reserves at the same time as my "cousin" Brian Humber. Both ended up at Aldershot if I recall correctly. Brian never made a first team appearance, I think Wayne made a handful before he left. Sandown has quite a good reputation for young players, James Hayter is from there and for the older folks amongst us the Fulham, Bournemouth and Ipswich goalkeeper (not allowed to say Goalie evidently) Kieron Baker was a prefect at my school when I first joined.
  6. Most former Pompey players get the **** taken. Not sure Pulis counts as ex-Pompey given he made same number of appearances for them as he has for us. The joke here is that someone who shall remain nameless ever thought he would make it here and gave him a long contract and on terms which means he is happy to stay here with no chance of ever getting a game. Just because he is a Saints player, does not mean he deserves to be treated with respect as a player. Al Dia was a joke, but at least he made an appearance, albeit a brief one. This guy would not be a pro footballer if it wasn't for who his dad is, and the wages we are paying for him due to the mess that the former chairman made means that we will have had to ket at least one, pobably more talented youngster go as a result. That is the joke, and it is very sad for those kids who get left on the scrap heap because of this cock-up
  7. Good news, Pulis in the squad to play Torquay, looking good for the weekend for the Gulls before the League dock points for playing unregistered player. I was surprised by the comments on the Barnet site that suggested that young Pulis is in good condition, having "played plenty of football this season". Does 10 games for Stockport count as plenty of football? Still it does mean now that he has made 38 appearances as a professional footballer, thats almost a full season's worth, pity it has take 8 years to reach that number. Good luck Anth, hope they like you at Barnet, the number of clubs left that might be an option is dwindling fast.
  8. Let's hope Mackay still have a pitch to play on and facilities after the recent floods and cyclone
  9. Respect is something that is earned, it is not a right due because of some other event or events. I always respected MLT and even more so Lawrie Mac, but the respect they have previously earned has been severely eroded recently. I find it hard to take a bloke seriously who runs to the press to complain about not getting tickets for a game that he has no intention of attending anyway due to work commitments.
  10. I wonder why you left out MLT from this list but added Osman. Did it stick in the throat too much to accuse MLT of being an idiot?
  11. It also explains why Barnard is not very prolific, he took all the pens for Southend.
  12. Maybe they meant Kevin Davies
  13. Well at least the first 8 words of your sentence are likely to be true.
  14. Loan window is open. New CB is what I said all along when the transfer window was open, it was the main area where we needed to strengthen. Jaidi is still fine for most games this season but will not be up to it next year if we get promoted, Seaborne is good backup and Martin is clearly not in Adkins plans. We need a new mobile strong CB to be the 1st choice pairing with Fonte.
  15. You forgot Massey
  16. You know what Alpine, I couldn't give a **** about your opinion either because it is worthless, as has been demonstrated time after time after time. You occassionally get things right (and on some things such as Pardew I always agreed with you) but that is purely down to the law of averages. You demonstrate remorselessly you do not have the slightest knowledge of football and you have even less knowledge about Saints, and yet you pass judgement on a match you openly admit you know nothing about. Your approcah to suporting Saints (if you do) has nothing to do with reality, it is based purely on looking at statistics and trying to draw conclusions from an incomplete set of facts, thankfully football is not like that, it is a game, it is a set of sporting contests between human beings with all of their weaknesses and strengths, that is what makes it interesting, not whether on paper we should win a game when we are 2 goals to the good. Did you watch Arsenal v Newcastle yesterday? I wonder if there is an equivalent to Alpine who supports the Arse, I guess there probably is, probably several, they must be slittling their wrists today, how would you cope with letting a 4 goal lead slip? I suspect you would suggest sacking the manager, that would be a great idea, sack the best coach in the world (OK, maybe 1 of top 3). **** happens, and in football, if there were no games like yesterday the game would be not worth watching. The feeling that the general public would have taken from yesterday was, great game, contested by 2 very good footballing teams, try watching it then you might understand (but I doubt it). That is not gushing, that is just pure fact. I am as disappointed as anyone that we ended up only getting 1 point, but it doesn't matter, it doesn't mean we will not get promoted. Your endless moaning and negativity take away much of the pleasure people on this board get from watching and supporting Saints. You need to understand football, and the first thing you need to wake up to is that each match is contested by 2 teams. Jeez some people...
  17. This. This whole story is total fabrication. There is nothing here to suggest Saints are upfor sale, there is nothing to suggest Lawrie is involved, utter utter ******. This is a story that simply says that Saints are a far more attractive prospect than they were 2 years ago. No **** Sherlock! Actually if you actually read the article you could be very pleased that the current owners have turned the club round from being a dead duck to a great club going places, and no indication whatsoever that the current owners would sell. Its actually a pity that the OP gave the thread such a ridiculous title, clearly does not understand the difference between selling a business and hostile takeovers.
  18. OK, OK, you're right, in that case I blame Telfer, Delap and Jimmy Melia.
  19. Jaidi would have been a complete liability today against the pace they had. Seaborne (note spelling) made 1 mistake as far as I could see, but I would agree that we need another CB, and was very surprsied we didn't strengthen in that area during the window. Jaidi is fine against L1 quality players, Posh have players up front who will be in the PL soon, if not next season.
  20. As you have already stated that you didn't follow the game, your opinion is really not of any great value. If you had watched the game you would have witnessed one of the most exciting and entertaining matches you would ever be privileged to see and you would also have seen that every player on both sides gave it everything. We weathered a terrific storm from them in the first 10 minutes and then completely outplayed the team with the best home record in the division who score an average 3 goals in every game at London Road, and if you had watched or even listened to the game you would have witnessed the terrific attacking force that Peterboro have, only wish we had 1 or 2 of theirs. But no instead you sit there with no knowledge of the game today and snipe and sneer as usual.
  21. Don't think NA made any bad decisions, and of course Spiderman wasn't available so that can hardly be NA's fault, unless he took him out in training or something. I thought NA did take offf Harding and Barnard as well, so actually he did what you are suggesting. Bringing on Richardson was a good move, and exactly what we needed to do to shore up the MF, we had looked vulnerable there all evening, one of the drawbacks of playing a diamond. Had to take off Guly before he was sent off, in any case was having a poor day. I guess the only possible different decision he may have made would have been to bring on N'Guessian for Chambo. I think some people think they would make good managers, it is not always as simple as saying "lets shut up shop chaps". It depends on the opposition being outclassed and not playing an attacking force like Posh have, CMS, Boyd and the others were absolutely flying tonite and in some ways we were lucky they didn't score 6. I'm no fan of Davis but he kept us in it at several points and Fonte was immense dealing with CMS, thankfully the referee was very astute in dealing with this as well, realising that Smith was backing into Fonte time after time trying to draw free kicks. Sometimes you know you actually have to give credit to the other team, much as I hate to give credit to anything related to a Ferguson, it has to be said they have some great players, thank goodness none of their back 5 could be categorised as such
  22. Wonder what the odds were on Pardew's current and previous teams both drawing 4-4 today. Feel a bit deflated but it was a helluva game, and you can see why Peterboro are so full of goals with CMS, Boyd and Mendez, luckily they defend like schoolboys. 2/4 pens should never have been given, 1 each. Yes its disappointing to let a 2-goal lead slip twice but we were lucky not to have gone behind early on. Unlike some I will not be slitting my wrists tonight, bit like the good old days seeing 8 goals in a game, and having no idea who would win. In the overall scheme of things this is actually a good result, not many teams have got anything at London Road this season.
  23. 5 subs and treatment for Harding, other stoppages as well, it was always going to be 4 or 5 at least.
  24. Can't believe this thread is still going. has anyone actually considered that SFC are not willing to make public the reason for not allowing NI to purchase a season ticket because they feel it would be rather embarrassing for Nick? I have no idea what has happened, but maybe they feel the reason would not be good for Nick in the public domain. I don't see (hear) NI making a huge issue of this publicly, perhaps he really doesn't know why he isn't being sold a ST, but then again maybe it would be disadvantageous to him for the real reason to be made public. No-one other than Nick or Nic know the real reasons yet this forum continues to debate something we have no knowledge of and accuse everybody of things we know nothing about. Quite frankly I couldn't give a flying fig why someone who represents no-one is refused a ST, but is still allowed to attend games, but I do find it annoying that people are prepared to drag the name of SFC through the mud without real knowledge of the facts.
