Cheers Markus, it was a nice birthday present

That was last season when we didn't have much of a team and he needed to get players in. This season we basically have the same starting team that was best in the division at end of last season, AP is probably not after freebies this season, freebies are probably not good enough to displace what we already have. He will probably bring in a couple more as back up (CM/CF) and I suspect Papa might yet return. Don't think there is much need for more.

Fools. You are all forgetting about Pulis. I confidently predict he will be in the starting XI of another team

Nothing to do with quality. Armani or Boss t-shirts are not (significantly) better quality that Primark, in fact you would probably find they were produced in the same sweat shops in Vietnam, just putting a stupid designer label on them means some people think they are better quality. More fool them.

Is it possible to stipulate that they are of the female persuasion as well, or would that be considered sexist?

Saints in "working the same way as just about every other club in the land (except when 'Arry is involved)" shocker

This is good news, though not unexpected. Arguably when fit DC is our best player. Makes no difference to the need for a backup to RL, we all know RL and DC are completely different types of striker. Clear also that we have in place the 1st XI and some backups that mean we are as strong as last season (albeit with Harding playing RB), now we need to strengthen the squad in a couple of key areas (RB, CM & RL-type striker).

As long as Ricky manages 90 minutes for 46 league games I would be happy with that.
-
We have signed Pahars, Tin Man and Killer :-)
-
Another thought, perhaps it has something to do with Mary Bates' passing away, perhaps something is being organised following a request in her will or something.
-
Thun and Sochaux both play in the top divisions of their respective countries, Switzerland and France, so suggest AP has done no such thing.
-
Antonio signed new contract at Reading and Papa is registered with Fiorentina.
-
We have signed Bastian Schweinsteiger in exchange for Pulis.
-
Gross, no thanks, and I wouldn't fancy seeing the Spice Girls naked either I think it is more likely that Paul Allen is taking over the Club and that we will be signing Rudi Skacel.
-
If you truly belive we would not be f*cked if Cortese left then lol@u as well. No Cortese, no Markus, seriously.

To be honest, the Paine Club may attract the wrong sort of people, or the right sort depending on your outlook i suppose.

Another Insight into NC's decision making?
VectisSaint replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
I realise NC is Italian but was not aware that he is into concrete overcoats. Fascinating that NC will be able to deal with Stu in this way, and that he will be sure that the concrete goes hard before carefully lowering him into the Solent. Now was anything mentioned about installment schemes. Mechanical hydraulic shuttering sounds interesting as well, more details please. -
Suspect this is not the correct ground. No way does that Lido hold 10300 snorkellers Still could be good training for the heavy pitches in the English winter rather than using our billiard table

No, Alpine does not have a point. We already have the best 1st XI in this division, and have made 1 signing already. What we are looking at now is boosting the squad. We have a team in place to start the season. I would be interested to know if DC has signed though. Of course we will need to strengthen the squad, but we have the players to start with, and i doubt that much will happen to replace replace what we already have (possible exception LB, but Harding is more than capable of starting there). The transfer window closes end August, I doubt we will see more than a couple of signings before then, and probably only squad players (backup for 1st team). Only other prospect is to get Antonio or Papa back either on loan or permanent.

Former Saints who could/should manage England fred...
VectisSaint replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
Redkrapp is not suitable for England, no transfer dealings to line his pockets, and he is a poor coach. Hodgson is the most suitable candidate if a candidate is required. Don't agree though that England manager needs to be English, in fact this would simply be an admission that England have no ambition other than languishing in the mediocrity of the current set up. To me Capello is still (one of) the best options, but he needs to build a team that does not include certain players, Terry and Lampard for a start. The other ex-Saint that will probably be touted in the future and who would make a 1st class assistant to Hodgson would of course be Pearson, but maybe he wants more club success first, though why he thinks he will achieve that at Hull is beyond me. -
Its a forum, it really doesn't matter what it looks like, if I had to choose I would say the new style is slightly better. But it is clunky compared the old one, scrolling is really poor. Biggest gripe still though is missing Big Ron from the banner. Sacrilege.

Disagree completely, that way lies the path to absolute ruin, less great players, and even less good English players. You would wait for ever for the English players to come good, actually what would happen is that they would feck off to Spain or Italy to continue to be paid the ridiculous money they are already on. And as for the coaching bit, please, how many players in today's German team play in the PL? You could say the same about Argentina (OK, Teves) and Brazil. Fact is we were dire today, against a team that was mediocre and will probably go out to the Argies in the next round (they will however be a force in the next WC when they have matured some more). On today's perfroance I would say Saints would have given England a good game, maybe have sneaked a win, but thats the difference between the pinnacle of football, i.e. club football, and the shocking spectacle that is international football. And thats why I really don't give a toss about England FC, international football in general sucks (hardly surprising given the lack of time to prepare). I don't care because in the end I support my Club, club football is what matters, its where it all started and will for ever be the pinnacle of football. You can call me unpatriotic if you like (who cares, nationality is just an accident of birth), but I would argue just the opposite for rugby where the club game is frankly rubbish compared to the international game. Roll on August and some proper football.

Lets not forget Alf Ramsey as well, though of course he was a Saint long before 66.

Presumably Wilde is a bit short of cash these days then, having to sell up. I wouldn't think this would suit our Markus, bit too showy and ostentatious (cheap and tacky, bit like Mikey). Still Burley is a top place (Dad was born there, not in the Grange I hasten to add, more likely where Grandad used to work as a gardener).
