  1. I suspect someone misheard. Hull City are run by Adam Pearson, who is near to finalising the new manager.
  2. Must have missed something I was sure DBP was 19Canteen or whatever his previous user names were. He certainly seems to have issues with MLT like 19C did, not many others do.
  3. Thought we liked roundheads actually
  4. No thanks, assuming I have correct Fallon, he was the bar steward that finally crocked Marion in a preseason friendly a few seasons back. Never forgive him for that. [if not him, then sure would be a good signing, lets get him in].
  5. The obvious choice if Dickson gets injured was and is Mills (assuming Harding is at RB), the next choice would be Seaborne. We had 5 LBs before today, at least now we only have 4. Very unlikely there will be much incoming before 1 July. I'm sure AP has some targets, but he will start pre-season with whats left of the squad and introduce others as and when needed, up until the end of August. With the exception of Antonio and Papa we still have the team that was as good as anyone in the league at the end of last season, but of course we need to plug some gaps in the squad.
  6. I suspect the club are waiting for the World Cup to finish before announcing the new signings. AP may still be weighing up whether or not to sign Rooney, after last night's display he may be having second thoughts, and may have now dropped the idea of signing Lampard. Its more than a week until July, and then another 5 weeks to the start of the season. We basically have the first choice team from last season, minus Papa and Antonio, which is more than capable of starting the season with a bang. I would think in the next 2 weeks there will be some action on the transfer front, but if not I won't be too worried. I do hope though that DC will sign up, he is class at least for this level.
  7. On this point you are completely wrong. Liebherr would not be here at all if it wasn't for Cortese. If Cortese goes, Liebherr will go as well, there is absolutely no doubt about that. This is Cortese's project, Liebherr provides the funds for his friend, business partner and confidante. I admire your persistence with the instalments thing, especially when it does not necessarily directly affect you, but in the end you continue to overlook one simple fact. Whatever instalment scheme the club puts in place does cost the club money to run. The cost is in the administration by an employee of the club in providing information to the finance company. Employees cost money, when times are hard their time is valuable and the business sees better ways of using their valuable time, or doesn't employ them at all. There is also the cost of providing information for the web site and so on. Sure, these costs could be passed on by the club to the customer, sorry supporter, but someone has probably done a study and determined that this cost would be unattractive to the majority of customers who would be interested in such a scheme. The valid point you do have is that the club withdrew the scheme with no notice, thus meaning that those who do have to save had no advance warning to start saving for their season tickets. This to me is the only valid argument against the club, and does come over as not very customer-friendly. But then we have become used to customer-unfriendly service from our previous leader for many years, this is certainly no worse than what RL would have done, unless we want the good old days of Super Mikey Wilde back then this is probably how it goes these days. STs are not a great need for the club in its current position either financially or in the league, and so not seen as priority, which would be promotion and the investment in the club facilities. When we are back in the Prem and tickets are hard to come by with capacity gates again, and the club is trying to live within its financial bounds again, STs will become important and instament schemes will be reconsidered, in my opinion. Maybe sad but its harsh reality.
  8. Check out Burley's win ratio with and without Glyn Snodin, then you will see how good Burley really was.
  9. and then realise the flag is up for offside
  10. But its not is it, otherwise we would have more players representing the first 70 years of club history. It is clearly a (failed) attempt to represent the iconic figures of Saints history. I see Shearer has now gone, but no sign of Big Ron making an appearance. I'm sure someone has a picture of Ron that would be appropriate. By the way I wasn't going to criticise the design, but having now used the forum a bit more, it really is quite clunky, slow to load, and scroll, and the way of replying is a bit odd as well. Still its only a forum.
  11. I posted this earlier (or similar) but for some reason my post has disappeared I'm not going to criticise the banner design, very much personal taste, and as StuRomseySaint mentioned, who really cares its a banner for a forum. BUT, I like others have to take issue with the omission of Big Ron. Not really bothered who else is there, but I think Ron would be one of 5 iconic players for Saints over the years. There are other favourites, both old and new, but if you put players in a banner then if it does not feature all of Davies, Channon, Paine, MLT and Bates it is in my opinion a poor reflection on the hostory of the Club. People can argue about others, but these 5 stand head and shoulders above anyone else. Shearer and Keegan may be well known players, but are hardly Saints legends, and really much as I like him, Rickie does not even come close to an icon.
  12. Would need a good imagination, most people have no idea what he looks like.
  13. No we didn't, that was bull**** being peddled by the fecking awful ITV commentator (Tyldesley). Trying to cover up the fact that apart from the first few minutes there was very little inventiveness or spark in the performance. I assume Tyldesley is Heskey's dad or something, his fawning every time the donkey touched the ball was frankly pathetic. Hopefully things will get better, first games in WCs are always boring, menaingless encounters, and clearly this wasn't the worst (France can take credit for that) but to say we played well last night is just plain wrong.
  14. The away kit is just the same but without the sash. In 1885 sashes were often only worn to distinguish from the opposition.
  15. I think half the team will play with the sash going right to left, and half left to right. That would be in keeping with tradition. And the keeper's shirt will have a roll neck.
  16. Perhaps he just wanted to get Lucy Pinder back again
  17. Difference is we currently have a squad that is the best in the division. We do not need new players to START the preseason or even the season as things stand (Harding can play RB if necessary with Mills LB). I'm not belittling the situation of course we need a proper RB or 2 and CM and we also need another lead striker (backup to Rickie) but to compare this situation with the shambles that was George Burley is frankly a complete and utter joke and you really should take a long hard look at yourself and consider why you want to continue making yourself look so silly.
  18. There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's MasterCard (or any other 0% Credit Card) 1960 in answer to your question...
  19. Are the Asda delivery drivers on strike? Empty shelves, hard to believe.
  20. Could be, but if we're back there in 2 years maybe we won't be too unhappy, especially those who see the PL as the Holy Grail (I only want to be there if we can compete, not make up the numbers and avoid relegation). If its much longer than that then maybe £40 will be a bargain depending on inflation. How's about we cross that bridge when we come to it, instead of slitting our wrists now about something that may never happen.
  21. While I largely agree with your sentiment, in fact a lot of people cannot get a credit card, either due to their age or their credit rating. I think you may be surprised how many this would impact. Getting a 0% credit card really is not an option for many people.
  22. Why? No mortgage and no interest charges, and crowds averaging more than 21k? The break even point last season with mortgage was said to be 15k I believe. OK, our wage bill has gone up, but our income has also, and our other outgoings have reduced dramatically
  23. can't believe you wrote this. What this says to me is just the opposite, and we have an owner who is wealthy enough that he doesn't disclose to the rags how wealthy he is. Not sure how the programmes issue could be seen as an indicator or not of wealth, just a ****-up with an advertiser or copyright. What is does show is that we are not going to be fed tittle-tattle every time something insignificant happens.
  24. feel sorry for the lad, especially after the Sven fecked him about 4 years ago, but frankly anyone who is surprised clealry has not seen him play recently. Lots of pace and threat but appalling decision making and final passing. No surprise at all IMHO. Although I disagree with those who say he has not improved since he left Saints (because its total balls), he really hasn't developed his football brain as much as he should have done.
