  1. Thank **** AP was sensible enough to play our best available team and not what some "fans" thought we should do. If we had lost today we would have been the headlines, because there are no real shocks for the pundits to talk about. That would have been so embarrassing. Always thought Luton would be a tougher prospect than Northampton or Torquay, or for that matter some L1 teams. They should be a league club and are on a good run. Still good to see we will be in the hat for R4, and will be the underdogs almost certainly.
  2. Think you'd lose then. Looks like basically the same team that beat us, but without O'Toole and Lisbey due to suspension/loan agreement.
  3. Its what comes of having to change the defence and bringing Davis back in at the same time, can't see the logic of starting Davis for this one, would have started with Bart, who has proved he is as good as Davis, bringing Davis back in when needed/fully fit.
  4. Although 5 places behind today's opponents, who have a smaller capacity.
  5. Kids today, huh! When I were lad we didn't have roofs.
  6. Fulham will have to sort that out then, no need for the other lot they won't be there much longer.
  7. While Lancs did have a poor game that night it would be grossly unfair to blame the defeat on him. I was at the game, and we were a shower of ****e than night, and AP was incompetent. Much has changed since then, thank goodness.
  8. It is a sad reflection on football at the higher levels that there are 2 League 1 teams with higher average attendances than 7 Premier League teams and all but 3 Championship teams. Even with us as the 3rd best League 1 team, there are still 3 Prem teams below us, not just Pompey. 15 of the 24 Championship teams have inferior home average attendance than us!!! Just shows what incompetent management of certain football clubs can do and that point deductions primarily hurt the supporters, not the ****s that cause the trouble.
  9. Think you may be seriously underestimating Luton Town. They may be in the Conference but last season they won the JPT. 30 point deductions make a mockery of the term "non-league". Think Luton will be stronger than several teams we have played this season, and I don't just mean Torquay and Northampton.
  10. Anyone who thinks we should play the reserves in this game needs to read AP's article on the OS: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1920178,00.html Some "fans" may not realise the significance of the FA Cup but fortunately our manager and players, and now our owners as well have a proper perspective on the positives that come out of a good cup run and will be fielding a strong team in order to make progress in the competition. Well done AP.
  11. Perry, Jaidi & Thomas. I read after I posted that Jaidi is a doubt, still allows for Perry and Thomas without the need to actually play Lancs. Lancs will be on the bench though.
  12. Doubt he will play, will be on the bench. We still have decent 3 CBs without Trotman.
  13. I think its best that AP picks the team. This selection would lose, absolutely no doubt, and then we would have the disgrace of going out to a non-league team (albeit one that should never be non-league). Saga will not play, he is leaving, Davis is not match fit, and anyway better to keep Bart in goal to keep his confidence up, Davis will be backup if anything happens to him. Trotman won't be allowed to play, if he hasn't already gone. Molyneux is not good enough. Don't care what anyone says we should play the strongest team available, the only one I would leave out of the starting line up would be Connolly, but havehim on the bench. Anyone who thinks we should just throw away the FA Cup game against non-league opposition clearly has no udnerstanding of the meaning of the Cup to not only real supporters but also to the players and management. So there are 7 games in January - we employ professional players who are capable of playing twice a week, and anyway with the transfer window open tomorrow its not like we would be stuck if someone got injured - that would be more of a concern in February.
  14. Not in the stats of "goals scored for Southampton" he won't (of course he will in stats for goals scored during the season)
  15. Clearly he was referring to goals for Southampton, so the Rovers goal does not count in this context.
  16. Clearly they have forgotten they also had Pulis Junior then. At the end of the day, if Pardew thinks he is worth having then so be it. His judgement has been pretty good so far, and is worth more than the judgement of many on this board who condemn a player they probably never saw play, or at best witnessed 5 times during a time of turmoil. Admittedly it would seem Pearson did not get the best out of him, which is unusual for the man, but still must have seen him as worth a punt. I still doubt that this is a genuine interest though, VP would be well advised to stary where he is at least until end of season if he wants to rebuild his career and get back into the Camerron team.
  17. Quite laughable really the reaction of some to a possible return of Pericard. Yes maybe he was woeful for us when he was here at the end of the 2007/8 season. But he is getting rave reviews for Carlisle who are in the same league as us THIS season. The guy has a chequered past and it was not really a good time for hime in 2008 when he was loaned to us by Stoke. But unlike lots of you Pardew would be more interested in his CURRENT FORM. Whether VP would want his career to effectively take a backward step, which clearly being understudy to Lambert/Connolly is another question, he harbours thoughts of getting back into the Cameroon squad and playing games is what must be important to him. As for the seemingly ludicrous suggestions that Aliadiere might be a good prospect, dream on. The guy is class and should be playing in the Prem, he will not be looking for a step down into the 3rd division. I think some folks need to get some perspective and remember where we are and where in all probability we will still be next season (though I still have hopes of scraping into the play-off lottery of course).
  18. Think it is even more likely now that he will go back to Preston. Was probably almost certain anyway, but a new manager will want to see what he has got and is always likely to get loan players back. Think we can probably get better anyway, whether it be a loan or a permanent signing. I expect AP has got something up his sleeve (other than his arm).
  19. Unfortunately crystal balls are not infallible. You can only pick a team based on who you think will play
  20. Nothing of any significance received so far, just a brief note from my broker to say the shares are no longer being traded, or something to that effect.
  21. No, last season we had a dickhead of a Chairman who thought the only way was to appoint inexperienced foreign managers who had no idea how to work with young players, no idea about the English football league and no idea what it took to win games consistently. Playing youngsters was an option that was chosen, but was not the only option. The money problems became largely a consequence of this short-sighted pig-headed attitude. There are plenty of clubs around with less resource than we had who understand how to work the system getting in players on the cheap, and utilising the talents of young English managers who know the game inside out. Thank goodness the stench of last season is now long past and the fresh attitiudes of our new owners are showing what can be done without ridiculous spending.
  22. Think Forecast will be on his way in January. After all it seems like Michael Poke is 3rd choice given that we would not let Torquay play him in the FA Cup.
  23. On the contrary, one of Burley's smaller mistakes. The bit that doesn't add up to me is that his contract expires in Jan 2010, so expects to go out on loan. This is nonsense. If his contract expires he is a free agent, no-one needs to loan him out. Suspect he already has a new club lined up, otherwise he would not be stating the bits about going up north. I suspect that there will be several comings and goings in January - new RB, new CB, new MF and new striker as back up to Lambert being the priorities coming in, and several players moving on - Thomas, Saga, Lancashire, Molyneux, Pulis, Holmes, Forecast for instance. This is not due to their wages but because they are either not good enough (Lancs, Molyneux, Pulis, Forcast) or because they don't fit into AP's plans (Saga, Thomas, Holmes). None of them will generate any funds but will allow extra players to be brought in who want to play, are good enough and can be coached as part of a proper sized squad.
  24. Everton have flirted with relegation on several occassions in the Premier League, but have often put a run together at the end of the season so that the final table would show otherwise. Under Moyes they have really only had one bad season (05/06 I think) but before that they finished 17th, 15th and 16th and in 97/98 they only escaped on goal difference. They do look vulnerable this year though, hopefully this will be the year when they go down, always disliked them
  25. Think he also won the Norwich game for us, or at least made it into a positive draw
