We already have Dyer and Wright-Phillips for that don't we?

Who said anything about pulling it down? You could build a LIDL on the green bit in the middle... Sort of "Middle for LIDL" if you like...

Too busy monitoring this board to find out what's happening I would guess

True but I think Stephen Fry is not likely to be our manager, even though he is related to CB.

As I suspected, the rivalry does go back to the very early days, now I know what I suspected was close to the truth. Cheers FF. Far more of a "rivalry" when I started than Pompey were, sadly in the last few years most seem to have forgotten, but some of us still remember the real rivalry that existed, even if it started a little bit before our time.

Lowe makes an even bigger mammary gland of himself...

Surely it would only be irony if it was against S****horpe

I suspect the rivalry goes back to early days as DiS says. When I first started supporting Saints as a nipper in 66 Spurs were the main rivals, Pompey hardly ever got mentioned. The Chivers saga didn't help, but I think that came afterwards. Maybe it goes back even further to the old Southern league days when Spurs and Saints were real rivals for being the top team in the South, I'm not old enough quite to recall those days. But for some to claim there is no rivalry is to not understand our history. Many supporters followed both Saints and Pompey certainly up to the 60s, going to home games alternate weeks, the two teams hardly ever being in the same division, and therefore not really great rivals at all. Whereas for many years we did play Spuds regularly. OK, these days and perhaps since the 20s Spurs would look on the Arse as their bigger rivals (they are local rivals, as opposed to just rivals), Spurs were our real rivals (if not local). The later issues with Lowe and the North London Yobbos events in my mind simply added weight to a long-standing rivalry we had always had.

Bloody well said, best post on here for ages.

Probably why Kean is leaving Coventry

Perhaps we could host the Hockey World Cup as well, I'm sure we used to have someone connected who would advocate the use of our stadium, just can't remember the name...

Anyone notice any Hammill ones? Some of us need XXL

One of the few who came out of last season with any credit. He would be on my (very short) list of 1st team players that should be kept if at all possible: Davis, James, Perry, Saeijs, Gillett. That would be it as far as I'm concerned, all the others should be shipped out as soon as possible (I would be OK with Euell staying on reduced wages)
-
I was a bit concerned about his comments about watching/monitoring the play-offs to see how the teams played, Burnley v Reading and Sheff Utd v Preston. I would have been more impressed if he had mentioned watching Leeds v Millwall and S****horpe v MK Dons. We will be playing 3 of them next season. Burnley, Reading, Sheff Utd & Preston are history, for at least a year, really don't give a damn if he watched them or not, they are irrelevant.
-
Really can't think of many that I would be upset to lose in reality. Davis, Gillett, Perry, James & Saeijs are the only ones I would really like to keep, and I'm realistic enough to realise that at least 2 of those are unlikely to stay.

Well said. Lawrie is shocked that only 4000 tickets sold, seems a fairly inocuous remark to me, yet some so-called supporters on here lay into him like he is the anti-Christ or something. When looking for villains at this club, some people here have a remarkably stupid view. There have been some real villains, Wilde, Lowe, Askham, Hone, Dulieu, if people want a hate figure, choose from any of these, to make ridiculuous innuendo about people like Lawrie, is not much different than blaming Channon, Bates or Le Tiss for our troubles in the minds of most right-thinking supporters of this club.

Lots of skeletons coming out of the cupboard now..

Excellent, seems like a vast improvement on Rupert's vision, at least it includes a football ground -
begbies Traynor are not charging the club, they are charging SLH (the plc), unless of course you are Mawhinney in disguise.
-
If Rupert was astute, we would not have a 10 point penalty next season.

Thats what having a proper manager/coach can do for a player -
This is absolute rubbish. Crouch did not oversee transfers, he was a minority on the board when Wilde and his gang were in control and seems to have been sidelined by them completely, ending in his being forced from the Board. The only time he had this sort of influence was between Dec 2007 and April 2008 when he was attempting to reduce costs by loaning out the big earners (rasiak and Skacel) and planning th corner closure and bus service cut backs which were kater implemented by Lowe. I think like one or two other misinformed people you are confusing Crouch with Wilde. Crouch is not entirely innocent, but he is nothing like the criminal you seem to imagine him to be.

Newsround says we fold on Monday if no deal is done Probably a better source than many.
-
Quite why he would leave Swindon to join us who will start the season 10 points behind Swindon is beyond me. You do know that he is being touted around for teams in the Prem. Reality checks are needed by some, we will be in Division 3 next season.

Aged 38, I know thats a bit younger than me, but bloody old for an outfield player.
