Thoroughly professional- I cannot give higher praise than that.

We won, we didn't play well, this is generally accepted as a sign of a good team! In truth I thought we were poor for most of the game. Couldn't pass or keep the ball for very long, particularly in central midfield where we really miss Morgan. We need to sign another cm who can do the simple things well or we could find ourselves struggling against the better teams. Thought Harding was very good and another clean sheet is excellent. Whilst we keep clean sheets the team do not have to play well for 90 minutes or even 45, a 15 minute spell will be good enough to win us games. the auto promotion spot is within our grasp now I have to hope I can get out of work early enough to get to Carlton.

RIP Dean. Really shocking and sad news. So young. Really good defender.

I want us to win- I want Arsenal away in the next round!

Still feel confident we'll score

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do hope you're being ironic!

Get IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A draw would be a decent result tonight but we have set a standard way above decent in the last few games, let's hope that continues.

We need to keep the existing squad, including Puncheon and Guly and sign a good CB. Yes, we have CB's who are good enough for this league, but ideally we'll get another who is 'too good' for this league. I think that should easily see us winning the league. Then during the close season we can start looking for players who are 'too good' for the Championship!!

Saints vs Manchester Utd - 4th Round FA Cup Draw
saintpat replied to saint_bert's topic in The Saints
I'm sure Adkins will make sure they understand in no uncertain terms that any lack of effort or commitment(or pulling out of a 50/50) leading up to the game will leave the player watching from the stands for quite a few games. -
Saints vs Manchester Utd - 4th Round FA Cup Draw

Great draw, as people have said, a win-win situation. I'd have preferred Arsenal away but this was my 2nd choice draw!! -
I'd pretty much go with this- although I might go with Guly if available.

We're playing well- however I very much doubt Blackpool will be shaking in their boots! 1. I doubt they care much about the FA Cup(and I don't particularly either) 2. They are at present a mid table prem team, we are not in the same ball park. However with us at home and what is likely to be a 2nd string Blackpool team, we must have a chance.

The sort of game that will show if the team/squad/manager have improved since last season. Saints aren't good at these sorts of grounds/pitches. A win tomorrow will show that there is more belief, strength of character and adaptability in the team than last season. If we lose or draw, it'll just be another of those games which brings out all the doom-sayers- but it won't be catastrophic, we just need to forget about it and move on- However I believe anything less than a win is really points lost but I don't expect us to win by any more than 2.

no!

Real mixed bag today. Thought Dickson and Butterfield looked good buys. Harding had a truly awful 2nd half. Kelvins distribution was shocking- the worst I've seen. Puncheon looked way off the pace, needs a severe kick up the arse. Jaidi is slow but he generally reads the game well. Good to see Lallanas cameo and he showed what a class act he is. The front two worked hard and either are a good partner for Lambert but are not good enough together. With Antonio or Papa it would have been a different result, even without Lambert and Lallana. Plenty for Pardew to work on, but we were by far the better team particularly in the first half and we should still finish in the top 2.

I was in a queue for food at the Green Man- a balloon came over my head and I pushed it away with my hand- forgetting momentarily that I had half a pint of beer in that hand!! I apologise now to the man who was standing in front of me and who had lager dripping down the back of his jacket- I was too shocked/laughing that I didn't do it at the time. I thought the guy behind me was going to wet himself with laughter!! I also had to explain to my 14 year old son how it had rained on his head when there was no rain!

I generally hate Mexican waves-generally futile and pointless- however that was the first one I have ever joined in!! And I actually thought it was GOOD FUN and the right occasion for it. Not planning to ever do another one- but then if we're ever winning 3-0 at Wembley again and we're cruising- who knows?

And I admit to a small wetness around my eyeballs when we lifted the trophy! -

Just Magical- after nearly losing my football club 9 months ago- just to go to Wembley, even in a tin pot cup was beyond belief- to win so comprehensively and be sat with 44,000 fellow Saints fans- priceless!!! -

I think we strung 3 passes together twice- all night!!! Yes the pitch was poor and the ball was moving very slowly everywhere apart from on the wings- so what did we do- ignore the bloody wings- although Lambert spent the whole of the first half on the right wing!!! We looked like we were running in treacle- not a poor pitch, our lack of speed was almost laughable. We failed miserably to use Puncheon- how many times was he open but the player in possession failed to look in his direction. The fact is- he looked the only person capable of controlling the ball. Lambert was shocking IMO(although to be fair he did looked tired)- he obviously has no idea where he should be playing whilst Barnard is in the team . Papa gave us some speed and enthusiasm up front, if he could just learn the off-side rule he would be a possible game winner. Thought Wooton was OK- certainly no worse than Hammond. Why did we defend everyone of their corners with all 11 of our players in the box, whilst they had 3 standing outside? Surely even the poorest coach must realise that we need to have someone to hold win or challenge for the ball in the midfield area if t we manage to defend the ball successfully ! We have I'm afraid turned into a team who consistently HOOF the ball, with no concern about even hoofing the ball in the general direction of our own players. Lambert must get fed up chasing lost causes- and if you only pass the ball to the feet of players like Puncheon and Lallana once or twice in a game, then it is almost a waste of time playing them! Yes we missed two sitters but Kelvin pulled off two fantastic saves. Wycombe were more organised and much quicker than us- but they are used to playing on a ploughed field- we are not. It seems to me, we forget too often to play 'our game'- when we play footballing teams we play football, when we play limited skill teams, we play HOOF ball. It is time that we worried about OUR GAME and don't play our opponents game. Yes we haven't lost in the league for a while now- but with the quality of our team- we should be winning far more regularly. My first visit to Wycombe and although the pitch was poor, I felt it was far from a poor ground. I thought the announcer was very amusing-especially when trying to pronounce Papa's name. The stand was more like a stand of my youth, and the acoustics in the away stand are fantastic- unfortunately we failed to use them to our advantage for much of the game.BUT THERE WAS NO BEER!!! OK- whinge over, come on Saints, we are FAR better than this performance.
